To me his sadness ain't funny but as a man and how my daddy and the rest of the stand up men in my family raised me my pride and dignity wouldn't allow me to act out that type of scene and I got 3 sons how you gone explain that to your sons?
That is heavy. I actually can't recall any other male actor admitting that there was something they regretted doing in a role. I appreciate and respect his honesty.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think people said that the guy who played the Joker had a really hard time after that role. Taraji P Henson didn't like her role in Empire and was planning on leaving. The shooter in Boy Z N The Hood decided to take his role too seriously and after the movie cut, he was basically still in character and led a life of crime. I think more actors and actresses go through it, but for some reason they're not really outspoken about it.
Jail ain’t something to play with. Especially prison. I did 2 years and even in women’s prison it is bad. Thanks for not doing crime because you’ll never forget your first experience.
That movie was horrible. When I watched that movie, it completely caught me off guard and it took me a minute to shake it. I can't imagine what it was like as an actor.
Bro may not realize his power in the character he played. He saved a ton of young people from doing wrong because they didn’t want to go to prison and that end up happening to them. It’s acting and as long as it’s acting there’s really no harm to it homie. Look at the bright side of it all. You helped millions of people change their direction in life. Acting is powerful!!💯💯
@@weloveurickey Hell man, by the sounds of it he didn’t do it either. He said they were nowhere close to each other when they did it. Lol..he was like dude was over there across the room making the noises 🤣🤣..but to answer your question..hell naw I’m not even faking like it. That check gone have to be where I’d never have to work or act again in my life. Lol..even faking it from across the room.
All these terrible comments about how he wanted it or whatever deep down.. he was just dedicated to his craft and now recognizes the power of the scene and the metaphor behind the visual
This movie traumatized me because of his scene getting rapped. I never wanted to see it again. I cried so hard; mostly because I knew this happens to many people in real life. I never forgot about it and I’m not surprised that decades later the trauma he portrayed in that movie is still impacting him today. #VicariousTrauma
I literally just posted this movie because on fb somebody asked what movie traumatized me. And I was 12 the first time I’ve ever seen this movie! I seen it once and it had me shook! Never sat down and watched it again.
Bro had no skin to skin contact and cried. Now think about how real rape victims feel. Take this shit into consideration. Some shit that never happened to him affects him, so when these people tell their stories, just try to remember this.
You are an iconic actor in your craft. You probably changed alot of lives showing young men where crimes lead you. Sorry how you feel later. I'm definitely your fan. 2023
There’s no amount of money you could pay me to do something I didn’t feel was right. The price is paid every time I look in the mirror and that’s a lifelong toll. This is one of the main things I’ve learned in life.
Those scenes even made the audience uncomfortable, genuinely hate them at the same time it gives you a different perspective of jail. It makes you rethink a lot of the things you do and people you hang around. His character was just a normal dude the was hanging w his boys while one of them was getting setup for murder. Granted they never should’ve even gotten sentenced but once in there his life was totally changed for the absolute worst. I give this man his flowers while he’s alive n hope he realizes he’s helped a lot of young men stay out of trouble from the scenes
Absolutely 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 he didn’t get enough praise & support for being brave enough to do that scene & it’s sad. I wish the interviewer gave him props instead of trying to make him feel weird & uncomfortable all over again.
I literally have only watched that movie one time and it’s because of those scenes with him being emasculated smh it just kills me to see someone getting taken advantage of no matter what race, gender, age or whatever I can’t stand it.
@@33GLOCK nah for one this video and my comment had nothing to do with BLM or “ALM” so I’m a lil lost as to why u even brought that up Queen but on the other hand like I stated I just don’t like ANYONE being taken advantage of. Idek u and if I saw somebody gettin over on u I would feel a way that’s just what it is.
I ain't gone lie my eyes got watery hearing him go back in that state of mind. Much respect for addressing that cuz I always wanted to know why he did that role.😢
This man is well respected & I hope he realizes that. It’s “acting” but this is something that made him uncomfortable & was traumatizing. I hope he heals within his spirit & i’m thankful he was vulnerable enough to share this w/ us.
It’s not just acting because we are energy and all it takes is visualization and repetition to make something a reality. It went against his spirit(the Holy Spirit within him really), so this makes it very real. Even the guy that played the original joker (Jack Nicholson) warned heath ledger about the role. It was a very dark role. Heath ledger also died after this role from a drug overdose. Michael b Jordan had to get therapy after his role in black panther because of the darkness. I think sometimes we don’t see how things are not as simple as we wish they were.
This is why Katt Williams said in his most recent interview with Shannon Sharpe that he single handedly CHANGED THE SCRIPT in "Friday After Next" from the rape scene, to him escaping. He absolutely refused to play that part, and after watching Lockdown and this interview, I can understand completely. God bless this brother and I pray the Lord heals his mind and spirit from the inner trauma that scene caused him. 💔🙏🏽
That scene made me cry… that scene is someone’s reality & it just demonstrated what goes on behind those bars. I hate that it had a negative impact on him because I actually commend him for being brave enough to do that scene, just to bring awareness
It was a scene where A white DUDE WAS DOMINATING A BLACK MAN! They OWN BET, knowing young black ppl watching, playing it over, and over, they know what they doing! ITS ALL BACK FIRING NOW.
If you ever get into a situation where you feel uncomfortable or something does not line up with your ethics or morals. Do not do it. Like this brother said you will live in regret.
I watched this movie last night and cried about his character. People in life or jail take advantage of people's kindness/friendliness and i think that was the message.
People are so ignorant it's sad. I just hope he knows that he told a lot of young men story in that scene. I'm sorry portraying that caused him so much trauma. But imagine how many guys actually had to go through such torment.
True. He understood the assignment. He showed the Audience what people go through in Jail. At that age he felt he was part of something doing the scene but as he grew older and saw nothing changed he regrets doing the scene
This was a movie that should have had therapist on site. It should be a requirement for all films. When you’re “acting” you’re taking on a character of someone else that millions of people have to believe and it’s through you that character gains life. All acting is method acting, if you’re seriously taking on the role. I really hope he finds a peace.
I appreciate his honesty. Me and my mom was talking about this today. The love of money is the root of all evil. Sometimes in life we think getting a nice paycheck and doors opening up for us. Means that we going to do something One time against what we know is right. But there are worst things than being short on money. That movie came out in 2000. He still looks troubled. He needs to forgive himself and know that God has forgiven him and forgot about that.🙏🙏🙏
There’s no excuse to sell your soul. Just accept the money or deny the proposition. Use your experience now to spread the message that people don’t have to sell themselves like this.
@@wooterrackz2699 bro stop the cap ain't nobody got to degrade thereselves for a fucking movie stop making excuses for lacking of self-worth and eager for money or fame y'all niggaz down bad
This is what you call dedication to his Kraft tho! I remember seeing that movies and his entire character gave me chills! He played the hell out of that role! He’s one of, if not the most underrated actor in Hollywood.
Not really. It put Ving Rhames career on the map. They know if you're willing to shoot a scene like that, you'll do anything, on film. He married and kissed a man on that 2007 movie. I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry.
As much as he regrets that scene somebody needs to let him know that that kept a lot of young men out of jail he needs to be uplifted in understanding with that seem did so he doesn't feel shame
It's so sad when you sell your soul then it haunts you for the rest of your life. I feel that brothers pain because the way he speaks about that role after all these decades later seems like he wants to cry about it right now. Lesson learned never compromise your integrity for money and fame.
I seen the movie Lockdown when I was in middle school. When I first saw the movie I didn’t know what it was about (I was a kid) I just put on a movie I found. Man when I tell you this movie scared me straight it’s the truth. I never wanted to do anything that landed me in jail. I had to turn my eyes a few times just from the brutality. Scary stuff man I had flash backs for weeks.
Aye deandre even tho u regret doing that scene I want to thank u for doing it anyway because I caught a case and got 6 years probation and that scene kept me on the straight and narrow to make me complete my probation and I never caught another felony again.rns
That’s crazy I’m 26 15 years later he come out with his side of the story and my first time watching that movie could’ve never played that character hats off to you Mr.bonds insane
He played the hell out of his part I only watched it once and that had me scared straight and I’m all woman ❤😢 till this day I still can’t rewatch that movie that was heartbreaking i’m glad he did the movie. It may have prevented a lot of people from being repeat offenders.
It’s kinda fucked up to see how uncomfortable the scene really made him but I can honestly say that the movie lockdown was so terrifyingly accurate at portraying prison life that it made a lot of kids including myself think twice before we did something stupid and honestly I don’t think the effect would’ve been the same without that scene💯
I never saw the movie, but I'm happy so many are commenting on how it changed their perspective. Hopefully, he can find some comfort in knowing it helped someone avoid that lifestyle.
The only two movies he did where their was any sus activity was 3 strikes and lockdown. But his character was violated in both films it wasn't consensual nor did he ever play homosexual.
I think he feels guilty now, especially how people are now calling all black men out accepting gay roles and wearing dresses in hollywood. He probably constantly gets flak from people in his circle and people he grew up around, to the point his conscience cant rest.
I can't even watch that movie anymore just because of that scene. It's heartbreaking witnessing a man being violated like that. Having some shit done to him, he clearly doesn't consent too
“Let that shit go let that shit go we both ain’t know no better “ how fitting he shot jus a new iconic scene that hopefully outshines this low light but the words are so fitting
And even tho … this man is sooooo respected and I get HELLA excited when he’s in something new !!!! I appreciate his vulnerability in regards to this particular role .. I’m sure many actors had this moment …. #respect
Hi Something I have been in search for quite sometime is a connection with somebody that goes beyond vanity. It's very hard to do in this day and age. People can be, somewhat very superficial. On my quest to achieve this I have learnt a lot about human nature. It seems to me that those who are not given traits such as beauty or being wealthy are some of the nicest, kindest and generous people. While the "gorgeous" and well off seem to be the most arrogant and greedy people out there. Of course that's not to say there aren't beautiful kind people out there. I've been in the process of change for a while now and I have made some decent changes. I saw your profile and it intrigued me. I wanted to learn more about who you are and what type of path you would like on in life. Can we talk?
DEEP!!! Because your a man of GOD, and your soul is true. This is why his spirit was vexed. That scene and every other like it was an abomination and disrespectful! Much love and respect Brother Aundre👑✊🏿👏🏿💪🏿💯❤️
I remember that scene. I was real young when I first seen the movie. It really put the fear of prison in me. Salute to the homie though, lesson learned. Keep head held high
Real talk.. that L.A Laker Jacket and matching hat is fire as fukk. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. Appreciate your honesty family and much respect on the GREAT Roles you played throughout your career as well as what you contributed to the culture.
