Looking forward to this vlog series. Another solo cruiser here - I left Barcelona the same day (October 29th) on Symphony OTS transatlantic, so will be interested to see how the T/A experience was on Virgin. Hopefully it was without the man overboard drama we had by 11pm on the first night!

So glad I found your channel. I’m considering doing the transatlantic in a solo cabin in 2025. The price is so cheap but I’m a little concerned about being solo for so long in such a small cabin!
Hey! Ahh, welcome to my little channel - good to have you here! So I didn’t go mad at all, but it is a SMALL space for a longer cruise. That said, it saved me a fortune and got me cruising for 2 weeks - I’d do it again in a heartbeat!

We’ve done 2 transatlantic cruises on Virgin. Barcelona to Miami is best since you gain time. Virgin is the best! Love your channel bc my husband is from Scotland 😊
Hi Fraser! Looking forward to this series as our first VV cruise is imminent. We have booked our restaurants this morning for Resilient Lady. We are very excited (for old people) 😂 VV is definitely different. So good they have improved the solo provision.
Already I can tell that ergonomically the solo cabin on Virgin is better than NCL. They have a normal closet and shelving system with the hangers facing the proper direction. Also your TV actually faces you as opposed to being off to your side and the shower is contained inside the bathroom where it out to be. I never got comfy in the NCL solo cabin.
Hi Sheri, good point! Personally, I think there are good and bad things about both, and a combination of both could be perfect! Interesting you mention the hanger direction - that’s my biggest annoyance with NCLs solo cabins 😂

@@FraserAtSea LOL, I can so seriously imagine myself on the hammock, enough so that I'd wreck my finances a bit to do that. Excited for the Pearl, very close to the Gem, nearly identical. Gem was my first cruise ever back in December 23 Transatlantic. Love watching your videos. I learn a lot and it keeps me entertained between my own adventures 😊
Fraser, I hope you enjoyed last Halloween onboard Valiant Lady. Unlike me, you must have a good sense of direction, navigating Barcelona to Valiant and her decks. I’ll be on Resilient Lady in 3 weeks’ time to Bruges for our annual hen night with my own party animals, ie Lucy and co, in a cabin like yours again. I have unfinished business with Valiant for not being able to taste everything wanted. I’m determined to sample them on Resilient this time. June

@@FraserAtSea I didn't laugh that much in months!! Maybe 1 tip, it's easy to have something like a silly bucket hat (it's foldable) or cap, and a tie for such themes, it fits in small luggage and easy to wear, can be reworn many times again
Is the wifi on a transatlantic sufficient for zoom calls? It would be great to be able to work while travelling. Thanks for all your videos. Really enjoying them
Good question! I found it to be totally fine when sailing on a ship with a Starlink connection, but not when the ship still had an older provider. To be honest, crossing the Atlantic with Virgin didn’t give me a good connection, but I’ve had great connections on their ships in the Med and also the Caribbean. I thought this was due to it being the Atlantic, but I’ve since cruised on the QM2 from NYC to Southampton, and had great connectivity throughout! Thanks for watching, and for your comment!
Virgin were running a promotion recently with faster broadband, laundry etc included. It was advertised as a package to work from the ship and we chatted to people onboard who were on for 4 weeks!
I will say that one depends! I am a happy introvert and apparently a weirdo. I looove curling up with a glass wine and a novel in my cabin, occasionally looking out at the endless ocean. My happy place. I love a balcony but also happy to stare out of a window marveling and how amazing and beautiful the ocean is. To each their own!

Entertaining video as ever! Honestly, I’ve watched a few Virgin vlogs now, and people seem to love the experience. I guess I’m just too much the old fuddy duddy because the constant parties, drag queens and, heck, red lighting is my idea of a prison ship. And all those stupid, clunky wristbands - I’m surprised they’ve not given out Ann Summers handcuffs… what’s wrong with a plain old keycard? (I hate things on my wrists…) And making your room a gift shop? Too much. Speaking of your cabin, Virgin really should’ve given you a decent price on a balcony upgrade. Now, how is that very regular old pizza box a plate? Also, that was a very lopsided pizza so far as the pepperoni was concerned! Anyway, I hope you had a great time, bring on the videos!
Hello! Thanks for watching - what an entertaining comment too, so thanks for leaving this, ha! The wrist thing is actually totally fine - it surprised me too, as I usually don’t wear much jewellery at all! The pizza box splits into 4 triangles to operate as little plates - quite clever actually!
