We all have bad days. . Fair play for being honest! I’m the same I broke a small cable last week.. turns out throttle control signal.. it went through the bulkhead .. all sorted in the end
You are a person to trust, owned up when most wouldn't, credit to you, also credit to working in an area full of dog hairs, personally I would have walked once i saw the amount of dog hairs in the boot area, customer should have cleaned it for before hand in my opinion, hope the bill for the bumper is not to costly for you .
A lot worse could've happened there. You could easily have been crushed between them so I'm glad to see you learned your lesson well. It was a bump. That's why we call them bumpers and they're easily repaired/replaced. You on the other hand are not and you absolutely nailed that fault, fair play. Stay safe, pal!
It makes your heart sink when something happens. I dropped my meter in a ford and in trying to catch it broke indicator stock. Your video are the best on RU-vid.
Hi ! I'm French and I hate electric handbrake ! it's always shit ! I watch your videos and it helped me find my intake circuit temperature and pressure sensor fault ! No crank on my automatic convertible peugeot 207 when the outside temperature exceeded 30 /31 degrees centigrade . You made a video on another car model and it guided me in my troubleshooting . Thanks for this video . I'm an electronics technician . Hello from France .
Honest People are hard to find in Motor Trade. You are clearly very honest and that is brilliant alone because Customers know they are in good hands . Accidents happen . This honesty just reinforced my faith in your buisness
Thanks Baz, You are correct it could have been alot worse and not having my van infront of the car would have resulted in the car rolling on to a busy road Wheel chocks always from now on 👍👍
I really liked your honesty. Mistakes do happen and I’m glad your customer understood. Top marks to you sir for not only showing it on your video but in explaining it to your customer.
Shows what an honest guy you are. I wish I knew you a year ago. I took my car for repair to a youtuber after seeing all the good comments he had, turned out he had been dishonest, had my car for ages, whenever i chased him up he would say he had other jobs to do, he then damaged electricals in my car causing a non start issue but would plead ignorance that the car was a non runner in the first place even though the car started up fine before. he then charged me for trying to fix his mistake which he didnt even do. This experience still angers me a lot but seeing honest people like you has restored my faith in humanity.
I am so so sorry to watch the car get damaged. But good for you for being pragmatic about it. Shit happens. Always will. If you get a moment, what are those piercing probes you have. They sound like something I need. Love the channel. Keep up the good technical content. Auto electricians that understand the job are rare. Best. Ted
Your honesty is a credit too you ull gain more customers and reputation by sticking to honesty than trying to hide it ive been in trade 30years and thats best way bud accidents happen
Totally gutted for you when the car got damaged. Also being in the trade I know how you feel when something like this happens. On the upside your creating some great videos, I always look forward to watching your content 👍
Great video and info. I have had little accidents on jobs over the 40 years I have worked on cars. Maybe have a dozen times and always owned up, and easily sorted. They never happen again .
Respect for not hiding the damage. But out of interest, do you know why the handbrake released? Is it one of these electronic ones controlled by the network? If so, could your probing of the network circuit have been the cause? Or was it a case of the handbrake just not being fully on, and you moving around in the back was enough for it to cause the vehicle to roll? Just would be interesting to know for the future. Luckily your van was there to catch it, otherwise it could have been a lot worse by it rolling out into the road.
Don't beat yourself up too much Ryan.. Ironic that you weren't working on anything connected to the braking system when it let go ! It's only a bit of paint and it could have been a lot worse. Brilliant bit of diagnostics and use of the scope to check the network.
It’s a horrible feeling when you accidentally damage a customer’s vehicle it’s happened to the best of us and you were right to fess up we all watching can see you were upset about it and so would the customer car will get repaired and your reputation will remain intact 👍
Oh my god I feel for you ! But unfortunately these things happen, And you're an honest guy who owned up, weird why the parking brake came off! Great video, you certainly know your job👍
Did you know that car has a recall from vauxhall for that exact reason.. I know this because I have same car and rac came to do firmware update on handbrake all through vauxhall.. ask see if that car has had its recall done .. not your fault mate
A reminder to keep yourself safe, safety first. Its easy to forget when your working alone. Just take extra care for that reason alone. Enjoying the videos very informative.
Another great fix mate, did you have your crystal ball out on the way to the car to know it was going to be that fault 😂😂 also not your fault with that handbrake disengaging 👍🏼
I did on the way mate, Sometimes not the best thing to do tho 🤣 I only knew as i had a similar fault last month on the same make and model, Autoparts has lots of these units in stock so that says it all really 😆 Cheers for watching mate I look forward to watching your next upload 💪
Had similar happen on an insignia, I revved the engine and it released the handbrake....cost me a bumper respray and a new rear light. Shit happens but most folk are ok when you own up and cover the costs of repair.
great diag Ryan , i use the topdon scope on my topdon plus , so im pretty sure it will work on X LINK, I WOULD USE TOPDON SCOPE ON YOUR TOPDON PLUS , THAT WAY YOU CAN USE YOUR NEW SCANNER ALONG SIDE IT ...
Had an electric handbrake release on its own with me finnished up with me between the the car and the house that hurt luckily car was fine and house was always chock them now
Damn man sorry. Stuff happens and really just bad luck. Goes a long way though owning up and will work out in your favor. Respray should fix it up as good as new.
I'd be slightly more worried why the electronic handbrake released having watched the video you appeared no where near it. Any ideas.. And like genuine people are saying in the comments, to me honesty does a long way because these things do happen.
Nothing worse scraped a car taking it in as somebody had parked a van with a bike rack with a handle sticking out and I had to do a clutch and was raging the whole way through the Job
Well, it is a Vauxhall, you're lucky it didn't just spontaniously catch fire...🤣🤣🤣 I hate those automatic handbrake thingys, give me a good old handle that I can rip up. I always, always, park in gear just for extra piece of mind, even when I did have a proper handbrake.
@@mrautoservices7354 No bother, loving the content. You do some excellent work 👏👏👏 I also hate this whole stop/start system, there have been several times, in different cars/vans, when the light has gone green, I've shifted into gear and released the clutch to go and the engine is just starting up so stalls, making me look like an a-hole who stalls out. I guess I'm just too quick off the mark for start/stop to keep up.
Vauxhall have had handbrake problems for years on both electronic and manual versions on all their models , you were very unlucky on that one , accidents happen . . When I was doing my apprenticeship I managed to drop a ratchet on the wing of a Ferrari 412 when I was changing the battery ! . . Whoops
@@mrautoservices7354 I qualified as an auto electrician in 1983 with Lucas service . . Cars are a lot more complicated now ! But please keep posting your videos , I'm still learning ! All the best . . Pat from Bristol
i had my daugher insignia on ramps when the same thing happened to me fella 3 bloody times it happened just as well their were no other cars around and i was'nt under it doing the broken nox sensor at he times it released..i actually thought i must have being doing something wrong for it to release..
i was about 75% 'up'the ramps so the car was able to roll backwards when it some how auto released..staring at me otofix scanner i did not even have a clue until i shockingly seen the 'pavement'move..this is so so dangerious,it has to be a fault with these estate models..and i definatly did not touch the throttle and or clutch pedal when it released..
In fairness you never caused it, and in a fair would you should not have to pay for it. But reputation is worth more then not sorting it. Just hard luck.
