This is so true I have experienced it myself. Now I make sure to recite Astagfirullah atleast 300 times in a single prayer. How i do it? To my way to masjid. 150 going to masjid 150 on return and Ive seen things changing around. What benefits have i seen by far? 1. This habit keeps you away from Haram. 2. It Can be the reward for you at the time of your death as youre consistent in zikr. 3. Positivity starts to happen in your life

I'll be 50 in a month. Believe you me, you will only facr your REAL life test after you're 40. I faced my biggest test at 45, I've been saying Istighfar for the past 4 years, & I still need to be more patient until Allah gives me the solution to my problems.

@neossans I have not heard him imply any of what you've accused. I have only heard him analyse spiritual and psychological truths and link it back to the Quran and Sunnah, using them as his standard (as every Muslim should) There is nothing wrong with accepting knowledge/spirituality/psychology, as long as it doesn't contradict the Quran and Sunnah. It is very true, carrying yourself with guilt and regret only programmes you to be more self depricating, more vulnerable to repeat said bad habits and receive said self inflicted punishment regardless of circumstance. The way you act, the lack of self confidence, lack of eye contact, body lang etc. - people can sense the guit you carry because of this, and they will act in the way you allow them to act towards you. And with that uninviting attitude, you only signal to people not to approach you, not hire you, befriend you, take you seriously. How can they, when you do not even take yourself seriously? Befirend yourslef? Are even happy with your own existence? It is like law of attraction. You manifest the way you see the world and yourself, regardless of how it actually is. This can become a self fulfilling prophecy and an endless cycle of degradation. The inner and outer is an interesting topic though. If we could understand it, maybe we can change our unconsciuos thinking that inform our real lives, and build a better place for ourselves.
The story is of ibrahim ibn adham and he was visiting Masjid al Nabvi (saw). The baker would say “bismillah” whilst putting the dough in the oven and say “alhamdulillah” whilst taking it out.
It was indeed the story of Imam Ahmed and the baker and I don't think it was only astakhfirullah but the baker was engaged in all form of dhikr including astakhfirullah.

Can't help myself not to put comment here, you're absolutely right about guilt, whenever I try to read Quran It makes me fell like I'm supposed to leave my life just to scare from god and ask for forgiveness constantly, never made it to good massage like you're talking about.
