Howdy everyone! Welcome back to another week of Dropouts! This week we talk about Alyssa's super fun and special birthday surprise extravaganza and why it was her best birthday ever. i liked the movie as above so below. it’s supposed to be found footage/research film about a woman continuing her fathers search for the philosophers stone in the catacombs of paris. it’s a psychological horror type movie but it’s really good in my opinion

Zach, you’ve probably seen this movie already, but in the off chance that you haven’t, you should watch “King Richard.” I know that you used to play tennis, so you should like it. It’s about Venus and Serena and their rise to becoming pro. Also, idk if you ever watch shows, but I recommend “Dark” to almost everybody because it is the best show or movie I’ve ever seen. It’s a mind-bending sci-fi mystery thriller that spans across multiple generations of families in a small town in Germany.

Hey zach. big fan of dropouts since the beginning. i really appreciate you guys honesly you bring a lot of joy to my week. I felt very bad when you talked about how you don't feel happy anymore and i was thinking if you have ever tried meditating i know it sounds ridiculous but it gives you a peace of mind i know a lot of people who have been in very dark places in their lives but meditating helped them get through it. I hope you feel better love you guys and love the podcast ❤

You get that childlike joy again when you have children. Taking my kids to Disney and seeing their face light up is one of the best feelings. Watching them open Christmas gifts is magic. Just don’t run out and have kids cause every other day sucks 😂

Oh damn. Views going down? Tbh, I started watching dropouts because RU-vid was suggesting me the dropouts shorts with Tara in it (at that time I didn't knew who Tara and anyone else on dropouts was). I found Tara to be very funny. Also, Zack's interaction with others were very good aswell. Very dark humour and sarcastic. Although it seems like not many guests are coming on dropouts these days. I suggest you should get one more person on dropouts who is lively as well as funny. And also invite more guests.

I have a suggestion for Zack because I had the same issue at one point, not feeling anything (also coming from a single-mom family). I didn't end up using medication, but my friend who studied psychology told me I needed a good psychologist who is specifically PHD and practices "emotional therapy" or "psychotherapy". Those sessions helped me express my childhood pain in a healthy way. You may think you're always aware and thinking about those pains and that should be enough. But thinking is actually can be defense mechanism when overdone (this is proven btw). It distracts you from feeling. And for those who are not used to feeling feelings (and unfortunately are smart too), you can distract yourself from it so much that at one point, you hide all your emotions without knowing. That's when you start feeling numb and not knowing how you ended up getting here. There's a whole thing behind it. When parents can't emotionally help children be able to in a healthy way express themselves, they end up having a lot of emotion that makes them, in a way, disassociate from reality. And as a defense mechanism, they trick the psychologist and others into thinking they are ok. So, I think make sure to see someone who is 1. PHD and 2. practices psychotherapy. The point of sessions would be to cry and just experience your childhood and that would slowly open up your emotions for today. Just make sure to write down your emotions after and on a daily basis to see progress. A lot of people who do psychotherapy think it doesn't work because they just sit there and cry. But if you look at their day to day, you see their emotions actually opened up. Usually, they are so unaware of their emotions that they think it happened by chance, and they stopped going to therapy too soon, and that's when they go back to their old habits.

Zach, before medication and therapy and whatnot, you could try to watch some videos on getting your dopamine levels back to baseline. Andrew Huberman has some good ones. Also, maybe try getting your testosterone levels looked at! These play huge roles in our emotions as men & I think it could benefit you the same way it did me. Much love to the whole crew

A movie that I saw within the last few days that turned out to be really good as well as funny and very impactful was a movie called Emergency. The cast has RJ Cyler in it from power rangers and Sabrina Carpenter, Donald Elise Watkins. It came out in 2022 has a great story about what is like being a black man trying to do the right thing and being in the wrong place at the wrong time. i really do recommend it to anyone that has not seen it was a really good watch!
