at University, our lecturers told us something really useful that I think would be useful for you? “You can never master anything in art because there’s always something more to learn” which was something that I found helped me with my art because I was also, a perfectionist who wanted to ‘master’ everything.

you don't have to be confident to do an art challenge! it doesn't have to be super perfect or anything, especially if it's for improvement~ it might even be good coz if you constrict yourself to only working on a prompt for a day, you won't be able to dwell on it for a long time

If you want to do an easy-ish anime human drawing/sketching challenge, I can recommend the 30-day quick sketch anime people art challenge by the youtuber Art Senpai. It’s probably a good exercise for beginners because it’s supposed to be a quick sketch for 30 minutes and not a full drawing, and he posts reference images and his own sketches and you can see other people‘s work in the google drive folder. I do it too (didn’t upload yet tho, I restarted the challenge yesterday bc I kinda misunderstood what a quick sketch was) and it’s nice.

My adhd makes me meltdown from time limits too, so I got by the checklist idea - it’s not 30 days, it’s do/finish this checklist of 30 things. Completely frees up my mind, and I end up finishing early usually haha.

This gives me motivation to do a 30 day challenge! I've always been deterred because "I WONT be able to finish it in 30 days. I dont have THAT much motivation to draw every single day." But this just tells me, take your time. You dont have a time limit. Even if you do 1 prompt a month, that's fine. I've been meaning to get back into art, and this really gives me motivation :)

I know you are probably not going to see this June but I saw this video and thought “ I should do this. What could possibly go wrong “. I went a head and did a rough sketch for a lot of them and then got to the backgrounds parts and thought I was going to die because I might hate it and never want to do background again and when I tell you I did two sketches I started to fall in love with backgrounds now I can’t stop thinking and drawing them now every drawing is going to have a background and I love and hate it. Tbh you finishing the 30 day think even after the deadline was long past is super motivational to me; i easily get frustated when results sdon't come fast and wind up not finishing a LOT of wips and plans just because i get sad with my lack of skill, but sometimes you just gotta be sttuborn and do it anyways.( and you did so many backgrounds too, golly gosh, backgrounds take a lot of effort) Those longer painting/drawainng videos are just super pleasant to watch and hear you thought process. I didn't know your channel before this video, and I'm really glad I do now, because you're such a good vibe 😆 When I saw this video, I decided to do the challenge myself. I was not looking for improvement or something before, however I started it two weeks ago ! I'm also more into drawing characters, so I was really impressed by the difference it makes on my backgrounds too !! Like, I'm only halfway there, but I can really feel the growth and I'm so proud of me now ! (And drawing backgrounds is no longer a torture 😆) For all of that, thank you a lot !

I genuinely believe this video helped me improve on my own art. Seeing someone's step-by-step process, or even just a timelapse of it like this video helps me see how anatomy is formed, how all different types of poses and features can be drawn easily if you just take the time to study or even just reference. This video helped me so much with my anatomy, seeing you break it down into sections before lineart helped me figure out how your anatomy style is structured (I was always into a cartoon-ish anatomy while still looking realistic, if that makes sense. This helped me so much, thank you.) edit: just realized how repetetive this was, so sorry about that.

Challenges are so much more fun when you're able to go at your own pace. Sometimes I can do one in 5 days and sometimes it takes me months before I even touch a challenge. I'm glad you got to grow in the areas you wanted to with this one! Backgrounds are fun but they are TOUGH when you haven't built the muscle. I mostly get my practice in through comics and the once-in-awhile full illustration. Congrats on completing the challenge! :D

I THINK that the negative space one is supposed to be that the "Focus" of the piece is entirely blank. Like, having a silhouette inside of a bunch of leaves on the ground or something. I'd like to try this challenge myself just to try that piece specifically.

I get so excited whenever you mention Zero Escape!!!!!! It completely changed how I think about writing stories and characters!!!!!! And how you draw Junpei and Akane makes me ugly sob (but in a good way)!!!!! I love them so much!!!!!

The fact that someone with art as good as yours feels the same kind of perfectionist pain as me is so shocking. Like, the level of skill and mastery you have compared to me is insane. It's like a teeny tiny little ant compared to the fricking world itself (I'm the ant, you're the world). It shows me that even big artists feel insecure about their art not being good enough (WHICH IS INSANE BECAUSE YOU HAVE SO MANY OF THE SKILLS I WISH I HAD AND YOU'RE SO AMAZING GRRR-). I have mad respect for you because even despite your troubles, you're not giving up and hiding from your art like I am with mine. I love the zero escape series so much. Virtues Last Reward is my favorite, but 999 is also great and has its own charm.

June!! If you need to take a break please do! Your mental health takes priority and I can understand not having enough personal time to complete personal art, taking a break can really satisfy that, and if you EVER need to take some time to yourself just know we will always support you :)
