"Every game should have a few minutes of time before getting stuck" Me starting in Links Awakening with nothing but a shovel, i.e. the only possible check is digging in the doghouse. Next thing i got sent? A hookshot. Which gives 1 (in words ONE) other check, the beach sword spot. Everything else is still locked behind bushes.

A number of other roguelites (Slay the Spire, Risk of Rain, Rogue Legacy) have implementations. You just keep everything sent to you by other players between runs.

1:28:45 Yes, this is certainly happening on some level, I can say from personal experience. The cross branding is strong. The youtube and tiktok chatters look very foolish every time.
