To the chat member who asked, "Why isn't this guy a Fate servant?" Because the entity that chooses Servants knows he'd kill the asshole who summoned him for daring to try to enslave him. And that's if he didn't kill the entity itself for choosing him.

@josephschultz3301
@josephschultz3301 Год назад
@@Marcharound Untrue. And here's why: Mary Sues are 100% _perfect._ Meanwhile, this actual American Legend went insane later in life, almost got killed that one time, was widely hated by a lot of (admittedly evil) people (but still, Mary Sues are _always_ loved by everyone [yes, even their antagonists, usually in some weird jealousy sort of way]), and he died without getting resurrected by the Dragon Balls because he did what he wanted to do and didn't need a second try. See, Cassius Clay is what Mary Sues _wish_ they could be: Fully-realized, actual people that come-off as "too awesome to be real", but definitely were real and definitely changed the world with the awesomeness of their actions. Cassius. _Motherfucking._ Clay. The Greatest Kentuckian, Duelist, Lawyer, Orator, Army Officer, War Hero, Politician, Journalist, Publicist, Diplomat, ABOLITIONIST. Try fitting all of that on a fucking business card! *[Drops mic]* That was my time, I yield the podium. Peace.

@Marcharound
@Marcharound Год назад
@@josephschultz3301 Don’t celebrate yet, because I thoroughly disagree! Not all Sues have to be 100% perfect. People have tried to subvert the Mary Sue archetype by creating the now tropes “Jerk Sue” and “Villain Sue” (though the latter usually goes unnoticed) whose names are self explanatory. These are still Sues despite having flaws. Plus, losing it was you get older isn’t even really a flaw, that’s just kinda what happens as you reach late 80s. As for being hated, the people who hated him still clearly recognized his skill and knew they couldn’t take him in a duel. They didn’t destroy his printing building while he was sick by pure coincidence. They did it because they recognized he was better than them and they couldn’t win in a fair fight. Even when he was jumped by 6 armed dudes and beaten to near-death, he still won and described the experience as merely annoying. None of this even mentioning the fact he impressed the enemy so much that they release him and his soldiers from capture! They actually admired him. That is pure Mary Sue energy and you cannot argue otherwise! I don’t even know what you’re talking about with resurrections. The fact that he did all this without needing to be resurrected is even more of an argument for his Sueness. The only reason he’s a fleshed out character is because it’s real life, and he cannot have it any other way. That is why Major-General Cassius Marcellus Clay is the closest thing to a Mary Sue (or the male version, “Marty Stu”) we had on this here earth! P.S: If you want to learn more about what makes a Mary Sue a Mary Sue, I’d recommend Overly Sarcastic Production’s Trope Talk on the subject!

SO, question #1 is why don't more "teacher" use this method? Question #2, There are many more stories like this, that should prove that we all are closer together, but they are never published or shared like TFE did for Cassius. We are all Americans pulling in the same direction. This is a huge army on You tube, can we go find other similar stories to help bring us all together? Though I wish it on no one, there may come a day when any one of us will be under the threat of those who oppose us so fundamentally that they want nothing less than for us to die in order to get out of their way. He nearly died for it multiple times. As embarrassed as I am being a Kentuckian because Kentucky was a slave state, I'll always remember that this dude was also a Kentuckian and, when everybody else was too busy being fucking evil, he stood up and said no, fuck your entire system, I'm going to dismantle it, and you fuckers are going to _watch_ me dismantle it. Also fun fact: black slaves were the minority. The slave trade originated when Muslims enslaved Slavic people, which is where the word slave is derived from. The vast majority of slaves around the world were Irish, Chinese and English. Also, the civil war wasn't over slavery, it was only a small part after the fact. It was over the secession of the Confederacy from the United States to try and create two separate countries. Most American slaves were actually Irish, and there were black slave owners. Irish slaves built the White House. They weren't captured from Africa, either. When African tribes conquered rival tribes, they enslaved them for labor or to eat them. They sold them to other countries for trinkets as small as watches or foreign coins. All in all, it's great that slavery is gone, as it's an abhorrent practice, but it still heavily exists in Africa, with the current minimum number of 700,000. It's sick. Maybe one day everyone will be free.

He tells it with such passion and clarity you know he not just hyping up his favorite historical figure, he's hyped because he knows this thing is awesome and we need to know. I knew of Henry Clay, but Cassius made me realize how nutty our politicians used to be and his hilarious how almost anime he makes it sound with how much the dude accomplished in his life.

Its not that suprising that the bullet was stopped by a metal sheath, it was most likely a black powder pistol and depending on how much powder you load into the barrel will determine if itll stop or not, the rounds were also pure lead and soft when heated so, mixing slow projectile with soft material kinda adds up lol

People underestimate the importance of critical thinking and intellectual curiosity- not just accepting what you're told at face value, and not just accepting that what you're told is the end all and be all of what there is to learn. You note one of the biggest issues here- information is always colored by the perspective of the person sharing it, so when you hear what they are telling you, it needs to be with the caveat that their analysis may be colored by both unconscious bias and willful manipulation in service to an agenda. Every writer enacts an editorial agenda, determining what information to include and what to exclude, and there is a whole lot of the world that gets left on the cutting room floor, especially when it comes to things like textbooks. That is why schooling cannot stop with the classroom; instead, that must be the basis for starting to learn, and hopefully it will encourage people to go out and seek out more information.

Cassius Clay: the IRL Main Character with anime-protag grade plot armor. Recommendations for TFE (that haven't been recommended in the comments): For more serious topics - Battleship New Jersey sinking an island, Iowa-class Battleships, USS Barb, The Last Warchief, McNasty, America has no chill on Christmas, USS O'Bannon, America stole a German submarine, USS Texas, USS Nevada. For more US Military culture topics: Unrolling history, Make a hole, E-4 Mafia, PT Belt, (watch "The Fat Electrician Reviews: Seabees" prior to this for context [only 3 minutes, 5 seconds long]) The Great Seabee Train Robbery, The Knife Hand: America's weapon of Mass Instruction. For more America being America shenanigans: (you have to watch these two in THIS order or they won't make sense) Weaponizing Ice cream, America's Secret Underground Cheese Bunkers, America blew up a 1,000lb whale, Marine Corps Birthday, Toys for Tots, Nuking the Moon. I stumbled on you (probably) through TFE and RU-vid's algorithm, so that's the reason I have so many recommendations XD

Extra note; freeing slaves could actually be more difficult than you'd think. If you owed a bank too much back then you wouldn't be allowed to free any slaves, you'd have to pay the bank bank the value of the slave before you could think about freeing them. So not only would it cost Cassius Clay in value given up, he would have to be completely out of debt to do it. If you owned banks money they would not allow it. White Hall is a really pretty place to visit, they maintain it as a museum and there are reenactors around the property to show how life was then. There is a lot of Cassius' old stuff there, including a pair of cannons, and they decorate the place for various holidays in the style and with decorations from the era. It's free to visit the grounds, tours of the house cost money but it's not too expensive.

The confusion about the Brits and France not recognizing the Confederacy is understandable. Most people, especially in the USA, don't know how the Brits were actively looking for ways to affect the outcome of the Civil War. They were making ships for the south, but they had some funky details to them in that the Confederate sailors had to take possession of a ship when it was out to sea to prevent being obvious in their assistance. They didn't fear the Union, but they feared the Russians as they actually had ability to wage war on England and France. Keeping them 'neutral' allowed the Union to maintain its blockades of southern ports, preventing any large amounts of trade cargoes from coming in and out that would have given financial benefits to the South.

So Cassius Clay didn't get mush historical play, because the the majority of the Abolitionist movement was Quaker, aka pacifist, as were many of the people writing the histories. So Clay proving violence was the answer didn't sit well. They often avoid talking about Lincoln's violent duel filled past.

1) In Cassius Clay’s house, which is a museum you can tour, is a plaque commemorating when he met with a foreign dignitary named “Mohammed Ali,” which is what inspired the boxer (who had converted to Islam) to change his name. 2) very few sources still talk about about Russia’s role in the U.S. civil war. It was actually quite significant in keeping other countries from stepping in on the side of the confederacy. 3) Lincoln only reluctantly made the war about slavery as a strategy, so without Cassius Clay there might not have been an end to slavery until sometime after the Civil war ended. 4) The “come and take it” flag with a cannon on it was inspired by C. Clay’s stance against slavery in general, but also his resistance against the sheriff at the end of his life. He actually had a cannon at his house “to deter mobs.”

Fat Electrician is a treasure. He started as tiktok with short 2-3 minute clips. He had to get as much info in as possible and no mid-roll. Then he added those to YT as backups. Then he got some sponsors and following enough to make some longer videos. It's been cool to see him grow as a YT channel. Start back at his earliest shortest links. They are some of his most witty and he made a lot of t-shirts based off the little comments and utterance in those. They also explain why his little duck logo explodes and why he sometimes calls himself quackbang.
