Just 4 countries? I know it’s out of there control but I would want a refund to be honest.

Thats what travel insurance is for. Its not SAS's fault. They still had to pay staff and have pre arranged/paid for itineraries in each stop.

@@Sam-fg9lf Yes I read it. I agree. It was out of thier control. I just don't agree that they should refund everyone. (Maybe partially once all the other expenses are considered).

Sam you have to use that money for staff rooming and food it’s not their fault and it’s probably already committed and can’t be refunded

For those asking about getting money back- we’re getting money back on a prorated basis for room and board for the month we weren’t on the ship but that’s it, for most I think it’ll be a couple thousand dollars but it also depends on how much financial aid and scholarships you got too

I was following some of the other people and I never really got a true insight to the real environment on the ship during all the uncertainty. Thanks for really diving in about how. You guys dealt with the bouncing around and uncertainty.

It’s a cruise college they need money to run everyday and they can’t go to countries and risk everyone on the ship just because you want to go to other countries

Hey there! I was on the fall 2018 voyage and I was following the spring 2020 voyage all semester and I just want to say I am so sorry it got so messed up. I know it sucks. However, as you said, you would give anything to be back floating in the middle of the ocean again, I feel the same. Those days on the ship were the highlights for me, that is where I made the connections with people. And even with your voyage being cut short I know (as well as all other SASers) you stepped off that ship completely different people, you all grew so much, and really learned how strong you can be.I am really sorry you didn't get to go to all the ports and it was cut short, I hope you get to go again, and even if you don't you all always have those friendships. And all other SASers are in your corner, the big saying on my voyage (not sure if it's always used) was "SASers lookout for SASers." believe me, it holds true.

Thanks for posting this, Alexa. It's very interesting. What were some of the more interesting social customs you saw or learned? What was your favorite Port o' call? Your favorite city? What were some perks/benefits of being on the ship and traveling by sea? What things did you miss most from landside while at sea? Did you learn any languages? What countries had the friendliest citizens? What was the most interesting food you tried?

when you get on you sign a contract where you agree that anything can happen because even if they didn't dock at all countries they still need thousands to run the ship everyday

They get quite some money off the next few semesters and a little bit less up untill 2022 I think it was... And I also think they said that you could give that offer to a family member or a close relative

Hi Alexa-first I’m glad you are home safe. I follow SAS, as I would love to do it one day (albeit as a Life Long Learner at this point in my life) As I watched the pandemic unfold, and started to realize what that meant for all of you, my heart went out to all of you. I think you have a great attitude about it...for many reasons not something you will forget. I think part of the experience is the people you meet along the way-as well as learning to deal with the unexpected in life. I do hope you get to go again, with a full itinerary. Again glad your safely home 🏡

Did students end up leaving the ship early? Did some students actually book a flight home?
@Everyting99
@Everyting99 4 года назад
smileyfan16 hi I was on the voyage :) so yeah after we left Vietnam all the different itinerary changes hit (canceling Malaysia and India/booking Seychelles and extending Mauritius, then canceling Seychelles and Mauritius and adding Mozambique, then cancelling Mozambique and heading to Mauritius) and during that time we had 14 days (or so) getting from vietnam to Mauritius, so it was a LOT of itinerary changes thrown at us really fast and a lot of people got super fed up with it and decided to leave early in Mauritius, there were about 10 student who did which is actually a lot

Hi! I was on the voyage. The day that they announced that we weren't going to the Seychelles and Mauritius anymore, I decided that I didn't want to risk being stuck on the ship for who knows how long and decided to get off when we had one day in Mauritius. I had two days basically to get everything sorted and packed up, and because it was such short notice my place ticket cost $1300, which was essentially the last of my money. :/

I was on this voyage. For the love of god, do not make assumptions on people. My family is not rich. We struggle very much and live paycheck to paycheck and my parents are in debt. I worked my ass off to do this program, and I took out a LOAN of about $15,000 too pay for what was left after the scholarships I applied for. Obviously, a lot of the kids on this type of people are gonna come from a wealthy background, but not all of us, and there's literally no reason to be rude to people for losing out on the experience of a lifetime, $30,000, and everything that we worked for to get there. Lose the damn cynicism.

I agree. Yes, they are entitled to be sad, but when you sign up for something like this, there's always a risk or a chance of events happening. They also need to put it into perspective during a frickin' pandemic...people are dying and they're crying about not being able to ride elephants in India or whatever.
