I think it's really nice and at the end of the day it's your car so anyone else's opinion doesn't matter. The only thing I'd do differently is don't even grace them with a reply - you don't need to explain or justify - if they don't like they shouldn't watch. Keep up the great content 👍
Ahhh but we love him justifying his videos 😂 and it adds to the fun and cheerfulness 😁, plus this 11:11 minute video would only be 32secs long without him justifying, explaining and telling us we’re all idiots lol , I love it because normally I only allow my wife to call me an idiot 😉 so it’s a very refreshing format said from an idiot 😂 me not him Ofc👌🏻.
Any P6 is joy to behold. Having daily driven a '72 2000TC in the eighties, I can attest to that. Still miss that car. Give this one the love it deserves, and let her write the next chapter.
I love this car and if I could I would most definitely fit a 3.9efi 4.6efi and five speed gearbox. You are a very fortunate man to have the chance to look after these cars. You do put a lot of time in finding these too 👍🏻. Please keep it up 👌🏻
I had a 72 Tobacco Brown 2000 SC Automatic in the 90s. I have to say that the 3 speed Borg Warner gearboxes weren’t the best in the world more modern ZF 4 speed makes a sensible upgrade. Don’t listen to the trolls mate you have a super YT channel 👍😎
G,day Sheldon, my 3500s has the Sd1 5 speed and ive just bought a 3900 to put in it, i will put a carburetor on it and do away with the EFI ,I want the old school feel, i love your new car im jealous, people are jerks so stuff em, enjoy the car bring it out on special occasions, get a beater p6 to thrash around in, you can park in the street and not worry about. Anyway Godspeed old chap👍 Geoff from Adelaide Australia.
That will be a joy to drive and a classic head-turner when it's up and running. I used to live a stones-throw away from the Triplex factory by mine, and you know how Triplex should be pronounced when you see the three X's on the stamp XXX
Well done on setting the record straight. I admire you for that. For the record, I am not against modifying P6 Rovers. Over 14 years of ownership my estate metamorphosed into a fuel injected car with Interceptor wheels with non standard carpets and exhaust. I was one of the very first people to fit the LT77 to a 3500S and through the P6ROC offered advice on the conversion. I too was an expert on these cars having been a P6ROC committee member and technical advisor. What I said about modifications was in the context of your car being an experimental car. As it isn’t then crack on and enjoy the experience ! Good luck with the restoration of what is an interesting car, albeit one which is not historically significant. BTW, there is no jealousy on my part. I chose to walk away from the P6 experience 22 years ago when I sold my estate to fund the purchase of a 3 year old Lotus Elise S1 which I still own. I have an eclectic stable of cars now and have little too no intention of returning to P6 ownership unless a very nice S1 TC happened along.
Hi Sheldon, Greeting from New Zealand, you were very good to make a video to answer the critics but your car is special and unique the last owner changed the car to improve the vehicle but in a tasteful and respectable way . I wonder if people realise what the 3.9 v8 engine is developed from? The seats in the original U.S. speck modrel had leather seats but different head rests , your seats look Awesome Beautiful finished. With regards to repowering the Rover P6 British Leyland Competition Department did this themselves creating the 4.5 Litre Traco -Repco Race Car version definitely not the original engine ref Sports Car World July 1971 artical. The car is structurally amazing mostly just some rust in the doors and for the bonnet fins they are Awesome and this is totally 100% original and gives the car a real purposeful appearance. Never seen a North American version in the flesh but have copies of some of the original articles concerning them. Hope one day when visiting the U K. I could get an opportunity to view this Awesome car. Thanks again for the video , love seeing this vehicle don't let the negative comments get to you , the car is something very special.
Purely personal taste Sheldon, I really don't like the look of the bonnet scoops however your P6 is a beauty with clever updates which makes it a more attractive package for modern roads. Enjoy it mate, best saloon car in the world was the Rover P6, just love them....
I have got a mx5 mk3 automatic the black sheep of the mx5 range and do you know when I am driving with the roof down in the sun I do not give a dam who and what people think it’s mine. When you drive and the car makes you smile it doesn’t matter what the rest of the planet thinks stuff them and keep smiling.
Great car, needs to be painted black though I reckon with some period style Revolution type wheels and red (or white) band tyres. Congrats on owning something very usual. Ignore the stupid haters. I'm sure you must have mentioned this, but why is it RHD but for the American market? Sorry if I missed that part and congrats again! 👍
Hi Sheldon, rise above these so called experts trying to tell you you're wrong. You will always experience jealous dickheads who have nothing better to do than point out things they don't agree with on a youtube video. I, for one, really enjoy your content and look forward to a new video from you every time you upload one. That Rover looks solid and you know what you're doing with them. Fuck the haters and rise above it 👍
I might be wrong but I think you've got yourself a bit of a headache there, rear o/s door looks a bit scabby too, i bet every panel has some sort of rust scab on them of some sort, I think the beige car is a much better car imo, best of luck with it
Aron have you been told the original reg plate for the factory registered NADA car that this car, at least partly, is? i don't know how much of the current car is traceable to it, but we did identify it some years ago.
Its a great looking car. Plenty of people have modded all cars across the years and it makes no difference whats been done just so long as its safe. Better a classic than a Euroblob
Your car, your rules. If you love it ( you seem to know your P6s, probably more than most, then the keyboard specialists should watch, learn and stop "nit picking") then that's all that matters. I bet if they had the opportunity to get hold of a car like that you'd be trampled in the rush. Enough said. I've owned every variant of P6 except this version. So keep doing what your doing and remember the 10 degree rule.......???? Tilt YOUR head forward 10 degrees, and let it all go over the top!!!!🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Thanks MARK
If you love it that is all that counts. We watch because of you and your passion for cars (and other stuff). No classic is completely genuine if it is used as it is meant to be. The purist will always moan but it is absolutely pointless - cars are for driving.
The gearbox in my late Father's P6, 2000TC failed after a very few years, so improving the reliability of the gearbox has to be a good thing! As far as, I am concerned, if the body of the car is kept looking original, there is no issue improving the mechanics using later Rover parts. I'm less keen when engines etc from other brands are used. People need to get over themselves!
Well done for clearing that up.The car has an interesting history rather than being historically important. However, people in the car world have different standards and opinions and the fact that they dont make videos saying they are a specialist doesnt mean theyre stupid or jealous, this type of attitude will only alienate people in an already fractious community. As for the car itself, maybe an unpopular opinion but the 3500s auto you did the engine work on would be my choice with the interior and maybe the roof panel from this car.You seemed a bit adrift with changing the pishrods and lifters on the other car so maybe park the idea of engine swaps for a 4.6 etc and just end up with a nice running driving 3500s with a Triplex roof and a nice interior and some rare options.
Going to tell you something you are already aware of, I'm sure. The sun rays through the sun roof will damage the leather and other bits if not covered
@@classic_britain Think it would be a good shout to have it tinted or mr personally it would have the chameleon tint film applied just to make it look different ❤
Was there a known reason only 15 cars were made with the Triplex roof window? Too expensive? Too hot on a sunny day? Withdrawn after a brief period of availability?
A Rover club member in Melbourne has one with Triplex roof and as far as I know that is the only one in Aus. It was originally sold in Aus. as far as I am aware.
A word of advice (if I may), don't listen to jealous naysayers who will criticize you and everything you do - it's just a symptom of the Green Eyed Monster. You belittle yourself by justifying your passion for this (these) cars so don't stoop to their level because will never placate these people. Keep doing what you are doing Sheldon, honestly cannot wait for the next video with David. Stay safe.
Original ? Not Original ? Rusty or non rusty ? Great engine or really naff one ? Who cares ? Will it stop me watching ? No Ofc not , will it stop my enjoyment ? No Ofc not because he is one of the WORLDS most renowned experts on Rover P6s 😳 yep 40+ of them gives him that right to say that 😁👌🏻.
Everyone’s an expert on social media!! 🤮🤮🤦♂️🤦♂️I had it loads with the Capri. Absolute jokers mate. Take no notice of the keyboard warriors, they can all just do one💪💪✨👌 your cars the nuts mate, absolutely love it and I know that you’ll get this one spot on🙏🙏✨👌💪take it easy. ✨🙏🙏
So wat some people are so stupid and got nothing else better to do don't listen to the 💩 your happy with the rover and all wat matters don't let them get to you 😡 your going to get a bit of rust it's a old P6 rover your going to get the work done mate 👍
Where’s Kismet? That car was truly rotten, but you seemed to love it, and at the time, be spectacularly unaware of just how badly these cars can rot! Did you ever do anything with it?
My p6 had a 3.9 v8......a lt77 gearbox and (shock horror) a 4 barrell 500cfm carb and electronic ign...it went well...did 34mpg on a run...... Original manual v8 gearboxes are soft. Only weak part is the rear end!!! Only reason I got shot is couldn't afford to run it. I'm sure efi makes them run better than sus. Sus were never really the right thing for the v8 which was designed for a downdraught.......we just made them so they were fitted. Only reason I sold mine was money and mgb is more fun to drive. Make your car how you want it....its for you. Don't listen to anyone else....their opinion isn't relevant
It’s your car now and you can do with it as you please. Arguing over what is original what is not will only extend the anguish that you feel over such matters. My advice would be to simply disable the comments functionality if such things really bother you.
If it was a NADA car would it not be left hand drive ? can you not take criticism without calling people haters ? I stand by my comment that a re-shelled car with a new engine has lost it's originality, I also stand by my comment that it's a nice car but not some rare beast, just a common car with some rare parts bolted on.
@@classic_britain If you say so 😂. Nice car but your gilding the lily a bit calling it rare. My MGB has a Les Leston steering wheel does that make it a rare car ? No it makes it a common car with a nice steering wheel 😉
But what will you do with it ? Are you going to use it as an everyday runaround ? Given the engine size, it's going to cost you a fortune in fuel, not to mention the insurance.
Hey up mate the worst thing about your car is that parking, very shoddy, super nice ov the kiwi fella sending scoops, don't listen to the naw sayers its not their car
I had a similar situation with my TR4a with an idiot ! Mods like TR6 servo and master cylinder which work well ! After a few minutes of his jibber jabber bolox I asked him what cars and bikes did he own, he walked away, because he knew I was going to verbally destroy him on the spot ! Most ppl are lovely and I often let them sit in it for a pic. Same goes with my Harley ! Mums and Dads with kids enjoy looking at different machines ! 👍🇬🇧
