I do Amazon flex as well. I choose my blocks carefully and my experience as a former parcel delivery van driver means i usually finish early. In most cases 40 mins ahead
@@gs2365 I rarely take low paying blocks always look for the higher paying ones. I am fortunate because I have 5 Amazon warehouses within reach and the nearest to me is 6 miles the next is 9 miles that is driving on B roads. The others are motorways and the furthest is almost 1hr on the motorway. I don't do those ones lol. I will only consider them if by some miracle Amazon ordered a 4hr block for say £140 lol other than that I try to stick with the max 9 miles and look for better than standard rate i.e £70 (in my area) for 4hrs instead of £64
50 quid for 20 odd parcels... thats insane. I work for a DSP delivering 250 - 300+ parcels a day, 180 stops and Im on a flat day rate of £99. I guess you have fuel to think about and the drops are probably more spread out. But its still crazy to me. Great video nontheless 👍
Trust me, you do not. Dirt roads, no upkeep, especially in the winter, can be a LEGITIMATE safety concern. I've been on dirt country roads that go through forests in the pitch black. No houses within 15 mins. If my car were to break down, I would have had to more than likely camped out the night. Not worth it at all.
Just all hit and miss, usually the later blocks are same day deliveries, so they arent as compressed as others, i wont accept anything less than 20 p/h for them ones
@@justinjames3760 Because I worked there full time id just take them back the next day an hand them in at the start of the shift, it was never a problem.
Great great content, I do Amazon flex I’m not the fastest of people but I do try to keep the pace up , and sometimes if I have rural routes and go over time now that does stress me a little , Can we see more of these vlogs please and how do you pack your car . Many thanks
Be very wary of finishing early. As I'm sure your aware they'll have teams analysing the data from the routes and final scans etc. Before you know it you'll have unachievable workloads for each block. Great content though.
Yea, no doubt they're constantly analysing when people finish blocks, but unless I purposely delay myself, not much we can do about it except enjoy the short blocks when we get them!
The hilarity of that statement is how Amazon run the lorry side of things, had 4-5 hours sleeping as they’d cancelled a leg. Or better yet, driving up and down the country with no trailer at all as the loads were cancelled when I’d turn up. Or taking 3 cages in an entire trailer if there was one… was and probably still is a joke. 😂
@@LiamStroudy09 I can imagine. But network is usually run like it's still the 1980's in my experience across different jobs. No idea why. But its often very old school by comparison. However there's always a very high focus on the larger volume of staff delivering. Maybe just driven by younger admins or techies trying to justify their jobs. It was just a shout to others who race round like idiots cutting corners, speeding etc to finish early. They'll wreck the job.
I do, but tax is unique to each person, so including it in my videos is irrelevant. It doesn’t change what the apps paid me for the work. Thanks mate! 🙌🏻
I have just started Amazon flex. Did my first delivery lastnight. Please could I ask for your help on how you do your spreadsheet. If you could also assist with tax, I would be really grateful. Thank you
How can you get the boosted rate? They come only to the last minutes before the block starts and absolutely no garantee you get it. I never get it and recommand don't ever wait for boosted rate as you lose other blocks.
It’s odd, at the Exeter depo you’ll see blocks of the same length, for the same day in the future, at different rates. I’ve seen £58, £61.50, £63.50. These aren’t boosted because they’re close to the start time (like I said they can be blocks 2-3 days away), it’s for another reason but not obvious what that is.
Cool video and a good insight into what's expected. Is it realistic to be able to do this in between school run 9am-3pm? I'm doing uber eats at the moment but it can be slow and i want to supplement it with Amazon Flex as it seems a bit more consistent.
If your area has blocks between those times, then for sure. In the south west, the block times are a bit shit - we get 7am blocks, but the next after that is 2pm. Never seen anything in between. It’s to do with the coverage from DSP drivers in the area who do all those mid-late morning deliveries. We don’t get nice 9am, 10am blocks, nothing like that. In other areas I’ve been blocks starting at all hours of the day, so I think it mostly depends on where you are!
I love your videos, they’ve helped me to feel less anxious about starting my delivery journey. Silly question, but what insurance company do you use for your Hire and reward insurance (for when you do your food deliveries, not Amazon flex) ? As I am looking at becoming a self employed courier for Amazon flex and food apps, and I’ve found a fair rate for Amazon flex, but the food delivery insurance companies it’s double the price per hour for insurance!
I'm glad they're helping! I use Zego for my insurance, I pay monthly for the 30-day plan so it allows unlimited work all month, don't have to worry about topping up. It also includes your normal social, domestic and pleasure insurance so I no longer need another insurer for my normal car insurance. Works out a lot cheaper on pay monthly if you're doing 20+ hours a week. I found Flex pay hourly (with Inshur) to be the best value, you're right. I'm not sure why food delivery quotes are so much more expensive. This all contributed to me switching to pay monthly.
be careful don’t count it as income, because they can just terminate your contract. It happened to me i had good ratings always completed my round early. And whent back to the depo to wait. Anyways one day just terminated my contract and that was that, tried to appeal it but was pointless as its a robot that does it called up support no one could help.
No I don’t - tax and NI are things everyone pays, self-employed or not, they aren’t exclusive to delivery work like fuel and insurance which is the point. I’m calculating the wage as if it was being compared to a normal job.
Tyres are a one off and for these kind of cars it’s cheap and fuel a full tank you can make £300+ from so u work it out and repairs all that is one off charges so don’t know why u deluded people always think negative.
@@autohustles thank you for the reply, I am working part time at the moment and looking to go into doing Amazon flex 2 maybe 3 days a week. I understand you need H&R insurance witch my main cover doesn't have but you can purchase supplementary insurance to allow doing delivery work, only issue is my main cover policy doesn't allow supplementary cover so I'm not 100% sure what to do. Any advise on this ?
Think areas vary massively with driver demand - luckily in my area there are blocks that are in the app for hours on end and no one takes them, can pick up blocks same day or in advance no problem.
It's cars only. With some of the rural routes we get and the countryside, pothole-filled lanes we get taken down, you wouldn't wanna be on a bike, trust me!
Why does Amazon use Flex for all 8-1 & 6-10 ‘same day’ deliveries for parcels? During the day the vast majority of parcels leave at around 11am and arrive in an van and nit car
I'm not sure why, but you're right, Flex fulfils the vast majority, if not all of the same-day orders. Sometimes we get the daytime normal routes too, but I guess it's just a decision made by Amazon.
@@autohustles You might have to add what you want to the page through the customize channel option on your channel homepage. Not sure if this will help but just thought I would let you know. Really enjoying the videos by the way, thanks for uploading.
