The amount of breakdowns I have over my major is so sad😭 like I’m so miserable with my Biology major and I’ve came to the conclusion to transfer to animal science cause that is my true passion. My calling.
i think i came to the realization this morning that i need to change my major. ive been telling myself that i have to stick with it but im not happy. im currently majoring in diagnostic medical sonography, but as i did the prereqs it only made me realize how much i actually dislike science, specifically anatomy and physiology. i decided to do a gap semester this upcoming spring (currently a sophomore) and i hope i can figure it out by the summer. i dont even know what i want to do anymore and being a first gen makes it worse but this video did make me feel better so thank you
yes it's definitely hard, I have one semester after this and sometimes I still question my decisions but we live and we learn. Hopefully you find something that you love doing!
This is so crazy because I'm starting college this fall and I had planned on doing sonography but now I'm second guessing it because I too don't like the science (anatomy, lab,physics) part of it and those are really important things you have to know plus sonography programs are hard to get into because they only allow a few. I don't know if I can do that job every day for the next few years if I graduate from it. I just don't think I have the motivation to want that type of career so now I'm looking at other majors I can pursue that will potentially make me more happy

No, the way chemistry classes have been stressing me out. I’ve had to repeat chem II twice and and last semester Organic Chem 1 didn’t go well. Since the beginning of college I didn’t have a strong love for science I actually hate it but I thought I might have classes that I like. Every science class I’ve taken so far I hated it. I began to doubt if pursuing a pre-med degree is for if I can’t get pass these basic classes. Now I’m in this weird place where I still want to be a Doctor but the classes needed make me unhappy but I don’t have any interest in other things.
Omg same!! I’m majoring in bio because I plan on being Veterinarian. But now I’m gonna major in animal science because as much as I love science chemistry is kicking my ass and I am so unhappy. For animal science major I’ll mainly be taking ofc animal science class and some bio but I just now I’ll be way happier cause literally all my classes rn are chem bio and math which is stressful 🤦♀️
My whole life I’ve wanted to be a musician for my career. But now I’m in music school and realizing I’m miserable and don’t know what I’m doing with my life. I don’t enjoy playing piano or writing music anymore because there’s so much stress added to it now. And while my professors think I’m wildly talented, if I keep this up I’m going to have a degree that I don’t get a job for because it’s making me miserable. I’m thinking about majoring in EC-12 Education and getting my masters later on to become a librarian. I love books, I love reading and writing, I love inspiring kids to enjoy reading and writing as well.
It’s crazy because this is exactly why I don’t wanna major in music, I’ll completely lose my love for songwriting. Because the second your hobby becomes forced and academic it just sucks
Omg this video and the comments made me realize how not alone I am!! I changed my major for next semester. I was hating everything about my chemical engineering major because the classes were SO hard and I wasn't doing well on any of them and also I was having so many mental health issues because of that! I also realized that I didn't wanna work as an engineer so I changed my major to psychology (which is what I wanted from the beginning). I want to focus either on neuropsychology or research psychology. Must say my dad's not thrilled *at all* but I'm doing this for myself and I'm excited for this decision! It was time for me to finally make the decision for myself and not for what other people think I should do. I'm so excited for this new chapter of life!
Why is this literally me? I'm so irrational when I think I've fucked up majorly (and that's how I'm feeling right now). I just make irrational decisions left and right, I view everything negatively, I think everything is out to "get me" and I just want to curl up into a ball and mope. Why am I like this and can't think rationally?
Hope your doing better, I recently did too when I realized I did not like my major anymore. I didn’t really think too much about what I wanted to major in and made a rash decision. Now, I’m enrolling in a different school for social work and I am beyond excited
i chose to study accounting purely because my parents wanted me to study something related to math so badly and i just thought it was something i wouldn’t hate that much but was i wrong… my first semester is ending in about a month and i am absolutely terrified of exams because i hate this major and im not good at half of the subjects … i want to switch majors so badly but im scared because theres a whole process and id have to change unis too … there’s also the problem of what my parents would say though and honestly also the problem of what major im supposed to pick. i still dont know what i want to do… update: i still study accounting and i think ive grown to love it ? its just … the thing i like is that im good at it and i think id like a job related to it at least so. yeah i might go into audit ? but anyway im here to say that people make picking majors a whole personality thing when in reality its really not a big deal. sure, it helps for ur future job but u dont have to have such a big passion for ur major? they make it their whole personality when its Not. u dont have to have a big passion for what u study as long as u can enjoy it. and im saying this for people who DONT think they have anything theyre passionate about ! just choose what appeals (?) to u and if u like the way classes go then its ok! i love u and u can do this !!
Literally going through the same thing I am going into my second semester and I feel so unhappy continuing , but my parents want me to continue studying accounting... literally stressing me out every day 😪

I started college right after graduating high school. I honestly went with my teachers suggested of education major. I loved and hated the class but the teacher certification became so much I was having panic attacks and having depressed episodes. It lead to my hand swelling up from the stress. I knew I wanted to teach kids but I didn't care for teaching in Florida or even America. I looked up teaching abroad and it sounded great. I am changing my major to general studies just to graduate and apply to program in Korea for me to just teach and live in Korea. I had to think about it and honestly I was like oh okay I just want to keep moving forward with another plan.

Last year I changed my major from landscape architecture to biology. But now I'm overthinking again if this is the right major for me because I don't know if I'm passionate enough about it, but I don't want to change again, so I had a mental breakdown too. But your positive energy really helps because I think I always make it too heavy in my mind. For now I will go on with studying biology because I think that the advice to only make drastic decisions after your mental breakdown is pretty smart haha, thank you!!
if its okay may i ask if u still regret this decision ?I'm currently a 3rd year architecture student and I'm constantly having mental break downs due to thinking that I'm not "talented" or "creative" enough to be an architect ,my grades are fine actually they r great but i feel like this isn't enough cuz its not about grades its about having passion..i barely can sketch// , i feel like I'm forced to do double the effort to catch up with my friends
@@hail4712 are you still in architecture? One thing I’ll tell you as an engineering major is that desire is all that matters. We all suck at the classes and fail them, but as long as you have a desire to be an engineer that’s all that matters
I was a major in accounting but I hated it. So now I am gonna go into communications because I actually enjoy it! The only thing that sucks is all the classes I have to take now. So I hope I graduate on time Also that is so true not making decisions when having a mental breakdown. Currently I am having one over registration because I have to pick my classes and how many classes I gotta do for the comm major. I need to start an internship as well. Watching this video made me feel a lot better because I have decided to change my major in computer science to art. At first i wasn't sure what I wanted to do and I thought it would be interesting to learn all about computer science but then I discovered I wasn't really passionate about doing it in my life. I discovered art is my true passion and it's what i want to do for the rest of my life.
I have a serious question. What are you going to use that degree for? The only thing you can do with it is be an Art teacher. Art museum curator? Those jobs are so coveted they usually attended Harvard, Stanford or similar. Do you want to be an art teacher is that your dream? If so by all means go to school for it.
i literally hate anatomy and physiology and my major is nursing. the class is stressful theres tests every 2 weeks and i felt as though it was controlling my life all together. i couldnt even complain to my friends because they dont understand how hard the course is. halfway throughout the semester and now im thinking about changing major.
I hated it too girl ! It was so boring , hard, I stressed we had to learn 4 chapters every exam , terrible 😭I changed my major to elementary education but now I’m thinking of healthcare administration because I’m currently a secretary at a hospital, girl idk what I’m gonna do like I love to help people but the science classes and the poop, vomit, puss 😷 no thanks
This is me currently cause I was about to apply to the nursing program to only realize the my TEAS score was just wasn’t enough and so I’m deciding to change my major since I can’t allow it to get me to the point where my mental health is so low
I’m in my third year for my bachelors and I’ve changed my major twice. It’s so stressful… I thought I wanted to neuroscience but started taking classes and it was too much and I ended up hating it. Now I’m in business and I love it I can talk to people that have the same goals and future career goals. I’m a person that doesn’t want one thing so I’m a business major with an entrepreneurship minor. Definitely want to go to fashion school after that and work with big brands and travel the world. All I want is to be happy and travel and be in places that I couldn’t be with other jobs
I’m a sophomore in college and still don’t know what to major in. The semester is over and literally I’m still doing anatomy trying to get it done it is literally way too stressful for me I don’t think I can actually continue doing classes like that. I don’t wanna do any further anatomy if it gives me that much stress. Im better at chemistry although I’ve only taken gen chem. Wanted to always get into PA school or nursing school or med school but now cause of all the breakdowns I have I absolutely do not want to anymore. I took anatomy and physiology TWICE to get into the dental hygiene program at my school and now that I’m in, I’ve realized I HATE it!!! Took a year of gen ends to get accepted in just to hate it three weeks in. Total mental breakdown. Needed this video, so thank you!
I feel like we all need to go through our little bumps in the road to figure out what works for us, anatomy definitely made me cry MULTIPLE times haha, but without going through it I wouldn’t have know what I like and what I don’t. I hope though all those classes you found what you enjoy doing!

I’m changing my major to idk what bc I can’t seem to pass anatomy. Look at program requirements but I need a C to pass to get in and I just can’t pass it

I’m thinking about doing this. I’m unhappy with accounting and marketing seems like a good field. It wont pay as much but it’s a growing field and gotta work up in it. Thank you for your thoughts. I appreciate it. I could always get an associates in accounting and a bachelors in marketing to have that background anyway.
criminal justice to business admin for me so happy i changed, all my credits transferred to be electives since business degrees are flexible and i’m almost graduated now and i feel like i’m learning more skills that will give me better opportunities to get a good job you can use a business degree if you are unsure on what to study
I'm in my 3rd year of pharmacy school (5 year program) and I want to quit. This career seems so wishy-washy, most end up working in retail, after SO MUCH studying ughh. I thought I could do some science, lab work, research, but it's so hard and so questionable, and my grades are pretty bad, so yeah... I've had really bad anxiety for the past two years because of my degree... I hope I muster up the courage to change my major, it's hard cuz I would have to start over, and I'm 22 and not from the USA.
I am in a similar position (I will also have to start over from the beginning & I am also 22 years old) I am currently two years in Accounting program and I am filled with regret over my choice to the degree that I wake up with anxiety and regret over it often. I thought I was "crazy" for changing after two years but it somewhat feels good that there are others who are in a similar position. It felt like everyone else around me was so sure of their majors. Yes girl, how is the college experience like at BYU-I? I feel you, Anatomy was a BIG OOP- but we got through it and now I want to take another course because we have a cadaver class at our school! (but in the moment the experience was not pleasant)
I don't know what to do 😭 I'm studying English Language Teaching only because I'm good at English (finished my first year), but my dream was always to to go to med school (it's free in my country, you have to score really high on a national exam tho). My goals changed to engineerig in the last 2 years of highschool, but then it changed to not knowing what I want at all💀 then I just went with English Language Teaching cause I scored good for that. I want to go to med school, but I'm scared I'll get crushed under the workload, while as an English teacher it'll be easier to me and my job after graduating will pay me probably a good amount. So I'll be content and financially fine, but not taking the leap to go to med school would always nag at me in the back of my mind
And I would like to teach English in elementary, middle school, and high school classes after graduating, but I hate literally all of my classes in university right now. I'm gonna go crazy learning about academically English Teaching. I love learning about human biology, but a lot of doctors in my country talk about not being payed the amount of money they deserve considering the amount of shifts they have to take
I totally get where u r coming from. I have always wanted to be a dentist for the longest time. However, my grades were unfortunately not high enough to get me into any of the public colleges which aren’t only cheaper but also give you an international certificate. So, i had to apply for private colleges where I got accepted in pharmacy which I am not the biggest fan of. I decided to major in English so that I could become an interpreter or a teacher. Nevertheless, i hate my university and the whole college experience. I am a very introverted person and i just don’t enjoy people. I am about to finish my first year with high marks, no friends, no experience and overall mental instability. Again, i just want to be happy.
I wanna do photojournalism bcuz I'm really into photography and what's going on in the world. But instead I'm doing physical therapy and honestly I don't even wanna do it bcuz my mom wanted me to do it. I start in 6 days and I'm considering changing it pretty soon bcuz getting everything set is already stressing me out 😭. I'll give it a few weeks and then I'll change it. I'll update within a few weeks.
If someone wants you to do a major you have indicated you don't want my advice is to cease communication with them. This isn't the only thing they are giving you bad advice on. Now on the flip side of that Liberal Arts and Interior Design, Basketweaving etc aren't real majors, real major being defined as it's realistic you will get a job related to it.

Interaction design / new media design maybe? Is usually has a programming as you are doing mobile apps and web apps, but you are creating and designing something everyone can see.
