You were way kinder to the Swan, than a lot of reviewers. Despite them putting a bad taste in your mouth right off the bat. That price is way too much for gimmicky garbage.
It was a struggle but I tried to be objective to give the viewers an honest perspective of the product. It did actually work, so throwing it in the trash didn't seem genuine, or fair, even though in my head I did devise a few ways for destruction. Even though I wasn't treated well I thought it better to be professional rather than to stoop to clickbait level.
The specs on the Hequavtech page says the "flight range" is 35-40km but it also says the "remote control distance" is "3-5k with no obstacles". The 25 miles is probably how far it could fly on one battery charge if just flown straight - but you would need to swap in a different control system.
It's a little creative, but I think it could get there and back according to the specs only. If it is traveling 50 MPH, and it hits a Geofence at 25 miles, turns around and heads back, it should be less than 60 minute flight time spec'd. That being said, in reality it would be a stretch, flight time of 60 minutes is nowhere near what I saw... Creative marketing for sure. 🤙
Great review. I purchased the swan voyager, for our high school drone program. It has had some issues. Question for you, where do you set the transition altitude at? And what about the position switch, top left switch on the controller? Mine has three positions, and the manual is not translated very well. Thanks for your help
Thank you for the reply. I have had very polite Chinese people in customer service responding, although they are slow usually 2 to 3 days before they respond. I did have one zoom meeting at 9 PM at night because it’s their 9 AM in the morning and it lasted for four hours. We also reprogrammed the HEQ, flash software Change all the settings but to no avail. Finally they agreed to send me a new flight controller board and that did work. My image on my HQ screen show the drone upside down although my drone was sitting right up on the table their flat controller board was incorrect. I’m waiting for a response but it’s a little after midnight Eastern time, they usually reply of anywhere from 2 to 3 AM. I can fly it and have flown two flights, but it is so nerve-racking and I’m a grown teacher at a high school I have my part 107. Most of my students are part 107 licensed we fly RC planes and drones every day, but this thing is a beast. Not a message for a flight because it’ll transition to flight and it’s going out of sight before we can bring it back so we’d have to hit return to home. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t the last flight we had last week the battery was critically low when we saw it coming in the site and it landed about 50 yards from the takeoff point because the battery died, even though we set the Geo fence limit to 600 m it flew almost 2 miles away and like I said I do not get the red circle although I do get maps but thank you for your reply. I love your channel.
Worse customer service ever. 1st they sold me the wrong model. I paid for the dji air unit. They sent me some analog trash. I returned it and a month later they sent the same unit back with another analog camera and they botched the soldering. Now the camera doesn't work and I had to pay a local drone repair company to get it right.
@@AlienDrones I mean I have the version that has the DJI vision system. I've had this model since it came out. They have some work they need to do on it. Hopefully they've done it in the 2nd version but I won't be buying it.
Could you help please? I am located in Florida, and am on the second Swan Voyager. This is a little different model than yours, up the first one would never connect to GPS satellites . Returned it to China, they shipped me an up dated one, it got seat’s, it would not allow me to calibrate as the controller showed the drone upside down, after many text msgs and phone calls to China at 10 pm, they sent me a new controller and a flight control board to swap out. Now we can fly, but my min altitude to transition is 20 meters and it keeps flipping back to hover, geo fence does not work, neither does RTH. 😩 As I type this at 11 pm I am waiting on Chinese customer service to reply to text about this issue. How did you get the red circle to appear for geo fence? Did you connect Wi-Fi as I was instructed to do? I have been using my I phone hot spot. Any help will really be appreciated. Oh by the way this is for a drone class at a high a school. Thank you
Howdy! Last thing first, the geofence circle showed up once I shrunk it down in the settings, but as you see in the video it never would display the maps, just the circle. I also used the phone as a hot spot but honestly it was one of the most frustrating experiences with a product and a company I've ever had. Not only technically trying to figure out the convoluted setup, and calibration, I had to completely reset the operating system on the controller, format it and reload it from the ground up, program by program by driver until I got it to finally work. I was lucky as I had 2 at the time so I walked through the first one so I could figure out where to go with the second one. Also the support, which was downright rude and disrespectful, but that could have been just my local reps and not the company as a whole. I did have a whole video planed on how I was going to start with a garbage can and a can of lighter fluid and give these things a proper send off, but in the end decided to take the higher road. Wish I could be more helpful but it's been a while and honestly I blocked most of the experience from my memory as a coping mechanism. Hope you get it figured out! 😎
My drone class also wanted to video us setting it on fire and taking off out in a remote area, we were so frustrated. We had to figure out the programming also and finally have it somewhat flyable. We paid over 2,000 for this “THING”
Yeah you're right, it really doesn't have enough advantages and way too many disadvantages to be worth even more than a good drone. The video didn't seem that impressive either. Plus to have to kneel down and give it a calibrated blow j is embarrassing LOL. Also I was wondering about in drone mode with that big wing if the wind was directly on the wing it would be difficult to handle I would think. One would have to make sure the wing was sideways to the wind. Thanks for the look at a different type of flying machine.
Indeed, it is a different experience and it was actually fun to fly. It automatically turns itself to fight the wind, kind of makes it look like it's out of control, but it orients itself to keep it from being flipped by the wind. The programming for this is pretty decent, once you figure out what it is doing. Yes, blowing on the pitot tube is a little odd, and actually takes about 4 times longer than I showed, awkward for sure. Flying in the sunshine though, all in all not a bad day... 🌞
