"Instruction manual: Don't Fall"---Now THAT's my kind of instructions. I HATE heights after I fell backwards off a bale stack as a teen; I finally worked my way back up onto single story roofs but oh, I don't like it one damn bit. Anything higher than that, I'd probably puke, cry, and fall down so I wouldn't have to move. So you did darn good! :) Can't believe you didn't make Pete do the trim work.....shoulda.....I know I would have, and taken pics from the GROUND, thank you so much!
your job seems so stressful man. i couldn't imagine the anxiety of having to fix peoples walls and ceilings after taking care of all the bees. some people are so picky when it comes to drywall work. you do good work and i hope people pay you well.
As a railfan, i really appreciated that shot of the passing train. Keep up the good work. Yall r crazy messin with bees. Buts its sure fun to watch. Lol
Now that’s a hive removal! I miss my bees and the taste of real honey. Unless you’ve actually tasted “real” honey you’d never know the difference. I wish the video was in Smell-o-vision, I love that smell. I hear ya on the height thing. Just had a windstorm blow the gutters off the back of my house, 2-1/2 stories up. Money is tight, but not tight enough that I wouldn’t hire someone to fix them. 20 year ago, I would have been up there myself hanging them. I did hang them 20 years ago, maybe why they came off? Just remember, it’s not the height that kills you, it’s the sudden stop at the end. Happy New Year, buddy.
I had a mosquito in my room biting me while I watched this. It was a very immersive experience. Add that to my goosebumps because of the tall heights and huge hive.
I just thought I'd let you know I really enjoy watching your videos. They're not only entertaining but I've learned a lot from watching you. You got a really good sense of humor too. Thanks for sharing☺️
Man as a disabled individual I couldn't even to pretend to do what you do, But I can dern sure watch the hell out of your videos. Much appreciated; Keep 'em coming.
Randy, your videos are so much better than those of anyone else. I don’t even have bees (yet) but I have learned a great deal from you and your family. It has been a fun experience. Thank you. 😊
LOL, I got my fear of heights from falling off a hay loft in my teens. Tried to cure it by joining the Army, went into "Field Communications"...which requires climbing telephone poles! Ironically, I gaffed into a knot-hole, gaffs slid and I bounced all the way to the bottom, wrecked my knee. Man, my pulse got to racing on your behalf when you showed the view down to the A/C units--darned near soiled myself! Good job!
Impressive video. You and Pete did a nice job removing those bees from the column. (And the bees tolerated your burglary very patiently.) When you found that swarm, I began to think that you have some of Mr. Ed's good luck. Good job !
Btw first time commenting... Last time i had anything to do with bees was way back in high school...yess we had hives several infact and did a full year course on them as part of animal husbandry class...yet ive been hard binge watching your videos...i find the relaxing watching you do what you do so thankyou from a new random viewer from Australia!
Ya know. I found this on pure accident. Which is funny since I am down right terrified of bees. Yet I find the removals and the stories behind them rather fascinating.
As I go back further into the history of your past videos, I can see why I gravitate towards your videos so much. You do things like I would hope I would if in your place. I was completely taken over by attention to detail during my time in the Marines, you would have made a good one. I don't say that in a lighthearted way, I mean it. Even if you were an undisciplined hellion when you were younger, I was too.
I love watching you work! I even used one of your videos to help my son get over his fear of bees. Also your video editing/camera skills have really improved through the time I've watched you, congrats on being multi-talented!
Im so proud of myself lol, i spotted that Queen on the ground on the bricks before you said anything and before u picked her up..Ive been watching ur video's for about a weeks now and have gotten a custom to knowing what the Bee's and Queen look like..lol
Such a well established hive. I can see why they wanted you to come over. I'd be s are hanging over the side too. If you had to access from the out side it would be horrible. I'd like to see the owners face when they find out the columns are hallow. More than one queen?
The very outer column is probably solid the other two are just for aesthetics, it’s going to be a bastard to repair the whole side needs to be redone on that column
Rooster, I enjoy all of your videos the only thing wrong is you don’t post enough of them. lol I really don’t know why you are afraid of falling from heights because the fall won’t hurt you, it’s the sudden stop that hurts! lol. Just trying to be funny while waiting on spring!
You are the LAST person I'd say was avoiding work/afraid of working hard. You don't have to justify that. I'm terrified.. well.. not so much of heights but the 'falling from them' thing scares me silly.
@@628DirtRooster Like that old saying, "If at first you don't succeed, sky diving is not for you." :) I'm not jumping out of a PERFECTLY good airplane or off a perfectly good bridge. Just like those people that run marathons or run for fun.. I don't get it at all.. I run from rabid dogs, angry hives, or gunshots, that's about it.
i was shocked when i discovered years ago ... you can be afraid of heights FOR OTHER PEOPLE!! See someone standing on a ledge and your stomach drops out just as if it were you standing on the edge.
Have you ever seen a young child fearlessly look over a cliff/waterfall? It's terrifying. What do you do? You can't risk rushing to them, or startling them, or grabbing for them. That's the day I learned that even the most cautious children don't know what to be afraid of.
I used to remove bees a while back , here's a tip for locating where the combs are. Carry an old wire coat hanger or 12 or 14 ga stripped copper electrical wire about 2 feet long. Grab your 3/16th inch drill and make a hole where you suspect they are and insert the wire. If you hit comb you will see it on the wire. It can save a lot of unnecessary destruction and save a lot of time. Cheers!
Hi dirtrooster I just want to say I really like when you and Pete work together...y'all always have me laughing till I bout pee myself lol...and only am I allergic to bees I'm deathly afraid of heights...so those bees would be there indefinitely If was the only pest control person person on earth...thanks for y'alls work on these jobs...
I took a fall off a 16 foot deer stand. Got to the top and was pulling on the sides to stand upright and the sides both let go. Man was that a scary trip down. Was wishing I had a parachute on the way down. Surprise of surprises I landed just right and only bruised my left leg when I landed. I hobbled around for a few weeks then was good as new. I contribute my good landing to the thick layers I had on and am happy I survived it.
That painting you said was how you feel about the whole thing is a painting my wife remembered her grandmother had when she was little. All my wife had was a picture took during Christmas when she was young and the painting was blurred in the background. I attempted to recreate it based on that fuzzy image while researching "french clown mime clown paintings with blue backgrounds" and finally found a photo of it online. My recreation was WAYYYYYY off to say the least, lol. So i have been working on a new one for her. When my cursor went over the thumbnail of your video I almost crapped my pants!!! What a strange coincidence. One of my favorite Bee You-Tubers comes across this painting on a removal..... Thanks again for sharing your experiences and all the hard work you add to all your hard work by filming and editing so we can learn and be entertained. I hope one day I'll have the opportunity to try my hand at bee keeping.
Wow! What a coincidence. I had to go look up the artist. :( He did some cool work. My grandfather was in the Shriners and would clown in parades and circuses. He had all kinds of art stuff like that. My brother got some of it.
@@628DirtRooster Whoa! So my wife just gave me the details - Her grandfather was also a Shriner and her grandmother was a Lady of the Eastern Star. I guess they gave that to her mom as a gift. They had lots of art about clowns from various artists.
@@tomasjosefvela1 My dad got into it for a while in the early 80s. We used to go to some of the meetings but that didn't last long since most of the group liked to drink, a lot.
One other thing dirt rooster, when I was around 17 and that’s been a LONG time ago we’d fill columns that were solid concrete and it’s what it meant...SOLID concrete...maybe they changed the term nowadays that solid concrete beams means doing it this way which was only meant concrete was just enough to make the home owners thinks it was...what the builders wasn’t counting on was Bee’s busting their lies out...and it sure seems that honey Bees today are a lot more aggressive than years ago Bees...maybe they ain’t but it seems that way....
Love your video on your bee husbandry. I have been trying to purchase some of the honey that you collect. However, when I get to your website, it is sold out. The next time that I am back at home, GPT, I will be looking you up to get some honey. I will probably be there in August timeframe and by then you will have had quite a bit of product to sell. Well, at least I hope so.
Yes brother in Christ, I am.having inner ear problems and I can feel.the slightest movement when Im upstairs. Good thing is that Messiah moved us to a solid, brand new complex with hatdwood floors so I am in a more stable place!!
How long does it take for bees to build that much of a hive? Some of the jobs you do seem so big that it makes me wonder why it took the owners so long to get someone in to remove them?
Wow!! What a great video!! I laughed so hard when your partner took out the instruction manual for the safety harness!! I can relate to you DirtRooster about heights. I feel the same after suffering 3 head injuries, one of them messing up the 4th nerve of my right eye which really has messed up my balance. That was a huge hive too! Did the Assisted Living folks like the honey?? About how many bees do you estimate were in that hive? Enjoyed the video! 😊
Ilay heavy odds that Mr. Ed's ears went UP when you accidentally got that swarm. NICE hive and glad gravity didn't overtake either of yall. Bacon nand plenty of it! Thanks, Buddy! GBWYall!
I was just thinking thankfully the bees r where u can reach them. And then u said it lol they knew u were coming Pete so they didn't make it very sweet lmao.
At 10:17 that's the song of my people! \m/ - I love this episode of Stuntman Pete and Chicken Little! Speaking of chickens, we have not seen your yard birds in a while, how are they holding up? Personally I am a fan of the Plymouth Rocks, or oreo birds as we used to call them when I was growing up on a farm.
Thankfully you didn't need a JLG because they don't make safety harnesses for folks like us. Lol. What can you do with bee's wax besides putting on new frames?
Do some bees get left behind when you relocate them like this? Surely they're not all home when you're vacuuming them all up? What happens to the bees that arrive home later to an empty house?
as a climbing arborist, i have to giggle at people who are afraid of heights. thank god i'm not. working at mcdonald's would suck. i guess having to climb trees for a living if you're afraid of heights would be worse than working at mcdonald's 😂
Randy you waited a year to stand on a balcony and remove a hive?😱😱😱. I bet Mr Ed would stand on that handrail to get the bees!😀😀😀 He might even dance the Watusi while up there😂😂😂
SO MUCH TO LEARN! I watch - but info is not retained. = [ {{sigh}} That's planned, i bet - so i'll watch more. ! = ) Really Amazing Job! Just cutting ~ How did you know it's construction? Thanks!
That was crazy. I'm not a fan of heights either so I know your pain. Interesting at the end though, you melt the stuff down? What happens after, you have clean honey? How do you get the wax out?
