Does anyone have a full performance? To those who complain, maybe the used uploading DOESN'T HAVE the whole thing. If you'd rather not have it at all, because it's not complete, than DON'T WATCH! I'd rather see some, than none. BUT if someone's got the whole thing, BRING IT ON! RIP, Mary... Thanks for your wonderful gift!
Peter Paul and Mary were my favorite band a few years back and this used to be my favorite song and R.I.P Mary and thank you for being a part of a band that really changed my life, you will be missed
Is there any rock star or singer more beautiful or sexy than Mary in her prime? Her energy and looks added so much to the group. And she always seemed to be sharing a secret with Paul while they were singing in this song and many others.
@ricdeed: Because it is. They're being backed by hand drums and what sounds like a bass. But I do think they're actually playing and singing and not just lip-synching, I just think they have a backing track with the rhythm instruments.
This clip was taken from a documentary on Peter, Paul and Mary I just watched. The documentary showed this part and that's all, that's why the poster can't post the rest. They give a full, and a great, performance here - watch?v=TrXXx9706tc A very clever song, written by Paul Stookey. It has a message. Listen to the lyrics.
I met with ppm 45 years ago. I got to know how to enjoy the music, and beauty and life from them. And I am one of ppm fans who is continuing seeing them since then. My band covered the music of ppm 40 years ago. If you are interested, please click ID of mine. and Please listen to "i dig rockn roll music・・・
@1968RYS: It's just partly perception though. You remember all these great artists from the 60s, but do you actually go out and seek out great music from today? My guess is probably not, most people decide that music can't hold a candle to the music of their youth and so they don't ever bother searching for good bands. Good music is still out there. Check out the Avett Brothers, Alexei Murdoch, Iron and Wine, Azure Ray, the Softies, Bell and Sebastian.
travelmanxx - It's "Peter, Paul and Mary", get a clue, they sing together!!!,.....though you alway have the option of buying one of "Mary Travers" solo CD's if YOU don't want to hear the other fine voices.
and by the way, they weren't making fun of the mammas and papas. They were paying a tribute. In the rest of the song they imitate Donovan and the Beatles as people who made beautiful "roak and roll" music.
@1968RYS Hi, PP&M had good taste since this song is an hommage to the Papa's and the Mama's (namely and by reference to Michelle and Cass). What happened to the music ? Well at the time they sang love, and now the songs are rather poor due to bad subjects and trash attitude. Music was, and still is, good so long musicians dreamed. It seems they awaked in a dark world with no more inspiration nor hope. Fortunately, mankind invented magnetic tapes and LP discs...
Some people are trolls. I wish YT would make some kind of change to the "thumbs-up&down" function to keep people from abusing it, or maybe it should just be gotten rid of altogether. The same for marking things "spam" - that is SO abused by idiots! When scrolling through comments, I often give thumbs-ups just to counter negatives, when they are unjust.
I since found it by simply searching for the title (without including the artist name). Sometimes you have to be creative (both the uploader & the one searching), to try to avoid being detected by the "copyright-police"! Here it is, just put youtube(dot)com in front: /watch?v=TrXXx9706tc
1968 was a pivotal year..a transition to the drug culture in music..PP&M stayed conventional.."Like Me older and Wiser"..not influenced byt Timothy Leary or Charlie Manson or Height Ashbury..They sought of peaked by then..Like Elvis..washed up. Times they are a changing..
hirdyk6: that was quite a harsh response over a mere statement of preference. I was only stating my opinion and not bashing PPM's version. You, like most everyone else on RU-vid, like to talk tough and cuss people out for no reason online and say stuff you wouldn't say to them in person. That's just a manifestation of a one dementional (SP?) mind that can't get it through their thick skulls that there's a person on the other end of your comment.
