Love your reviews Steve!!! Already have the Verum 1 and it sound fantastic for $350. I have also been able to EQ to very bassy levels using A Mojo2 Dac Amp. It has enough power and is super clear!! I will definitely be ordering Verum 2! Thanks!!
I picked up Miles Davis - Panthalassa: The Music Of Miles Davis 1969 - 1974 at Discogs based on a mention you made in another video. Great stuff! I have a lot of Miles Davis but I hadn't noticed this one. Do keep mentioning great music in your reviews.
Hi Steve! I love your reviews... and this one continues the high standard you have already established on your channel. I particularly love the fact that you include a few music reviews for the products you have tested. Any chance we can have a seperate music channel from you for each of the tracks you have already published?
Thanks for comparing these cool new Verrum 2 headphones to your older Audeze LCD2s! That is what I listen on. I just spruced mine up with new ear pads and upgraded to a new carbon fiber & leather headband. You just made me glad that I did! 👍🏼😀
I've two sets of 8Ω Verum-1's powered by custom built transformer coupled triode gear that sound quite good indeed. Very pleased Igor is moving up to 12Ω models that'll interface with a wider variety of HP amplifiers.
Isn't a Sansui TU-717 a Tuner. It was part of the AU-717, TU-717 combo...Integrated amp/tuner. The AU-717 is actually a well sought after vintage piece for its dual mono build and sound quality. That late '70s thing that some love and others scratch their heads. I have an AU-517 the smaller less powerful but still twin-mono integrated. 65 watts x 2 and over 36 lbs. They don't build them like they used to, lol.
Correct. I kept the tuner and sold the companion integrated au717 and have been kicking myself ever since. It was/is an absolute beast with really outstanding phono section
Hey, just found your channel and I've been looking for the right set of headphones and have been struggling to find an answer for about a year now. Apologies if this isnt the right place for the question. The best headphones ive used are GSP 370 headset from Sennheiser's discontinued EPOS Gaming line and have been enjoying it, but im looking for an open back option. Would you be willing to suggest a great set of headphones with an almost jack of all trades approach to audio performance? Use is primarily for playing videogames which focus on cinematic experiences. Everywhere i look focuses on competitive experiences and advantages, which tend to drop a lot of the richness of the more story driven games. Something that works really good for movies would be what im looking for, and while i like a strong subwoofer i understand a headset wont provide that type of response and im open to alternative suggestions
fortuitous timing for me. I had seen a very complimentary review of this brand and lost track of it , and then this review came along so I didn't have to search around to buy something I wanted anyway while supporting the Ukrainian economy. I was once talking with a local girl in Odessa, at that time under Russian rule, who enjoyed practicing american style English with me verses the british style she learned in school. I asked something about her opinion as a Russian, she stopped the conversation right there , got a pencil and a small paper from her purse , printed "Ukraine " on the paper and pressed it into my hand, so I would remember she was not russian.
I bought headphones from Amazon that have super thick cushions (and very comfortable) that sound amazing. And they cost $40. They also have removable cords that come with 1/8" and 1/4".
I don't understand this review. For most of it, you were gushing and glowing about these headphones. But at the end you said "they weren't very full..." Does that mean they're thin sounding or bereft of bass? I was warming up to these. Now I'm not so sure...
How did you obtain your set of your of the Verum headphones? I ordered a set of the Verum 1s back in January 2023 and I'm still waiting for the them to arrive.
I knew a Richard Burton when I was around 70. He claimed he was some kind of actor. He was afraid of a wolf. But not Virginia Wolf. You must be the most patient guy ever waiting that long for a headphone to come. Do you really still have hope you'll get it? Isn't Verum that company in Ukraine? Does the factory still exist? Do the people who are in charge and the people who work at the factory still exist?
@@1Uriahheep1 as recounted in another kickstarter , they sell profitable merch first, to afford sending out the kickstarter stuff. plus there is a war on.
Yep Headphones strip away the acoustic effects of a system in a room ... both the negative effects as well as, unfortunately, ... the positive attributes.
I am off topic but: Could you create at show and tell about PHASE? I am a longtime audio enthusiast. Lately I keep hearing people talk about phase. I have always understood that it simply meant keeping the red and black speaker wires attached to their corresponding red and black connectors. Can you provide more detail if it is relevant? Thank you.
Sorry Robert, I think the whole phase fascination thing is BS. Because it varies so much from one recording to the next, or even with a song. Engineers don't follow any particular rule set, so you can just make yourself a little crazy trying to guess which is the correct phase. More important things to worry about in life.
Phase and polarity are often interchangeably used ... which tends to muddy the water unnecessarily. The OP is referring to polarity. Steve's right ... there's way more important things of which to concern oneself. iirc, Chesky included absolute polarity samples in an early test disc (back in the 80's when this was hashed out).
The only thing preventing me from buying these is the fact that I already own a large collection of both earphones and headphones, none of which are used regularly. :p
Yes it's a little confusing, on the right side of the page you'll see where it says "Support" and then just scroll down with the inner slider and you will get to available rewards. That's where you buy them. Hope that helps.
@SteveGuttenbergAudiophiliac I would love to buy one, but unfortunately it takes months before it arrives. That's what is holding me back for now. One day, maybe. It would be a nice addition to my collection. Everyone is always so enthusiastic about the Venrum. I'm willing to spend much more money, but this is such a bargain.
@@D1N02 How about we give him credit "for helping with the booking of all remaining rewards and completing the KS campaign?". The reserved rewards may be a few, and I got one of them, so I am grateful to Steve :).
A tuner does receive radio, though. I never understood why a receiver is called a receiver !! In French, we call it an amp-tuner, which is much more logical to me. A tuner is a tuner, an amp is an amp… A device that integrates both should definitely not be called a receiver !
@@joso5554no way! It’s discontinued now, you can probably get a second hand one for less than $200. It’s replacement, the A2m is just $280… plus they’ll give you a 10% discount.
I just got the last “early bird first 100” at the designated price. Note that there are more for slightly higher amount of euros though. Slava Ukraini!
Ukraine, not “the” Ukraine. “The” implied that Ukraine was a territory of the USSR. Ukrainian’s feel “the” subverts their independence and sovereignty.
@@eaustin2006 I think what you meant was “using English well”. You should be choking on irony. The function on “the” in the USA is entirely different than this case. Would you say built in the Canada? The Brazil? No. He was actually using improper grammar, based on what is widely accepted.
@@eaustin2006 obviously you wouldn’t say built in « united states of A »… Because these are THE united states, all of f them, not « some » united states. On the other hand, you wouldn’t say built in the America. Nor built in the Texas. So you should definitely not say the Ukraine. Formerly it was « the SSR of Ukraine » as part of the USSR. Hence « the Ukraine » revives bad memories from Soviet dictatorship rule to the Ukrainians… Hope this explains it better.
I haven't heard of any proven cases and know personally of well handled warranty etc cases. Of course a one man company in a warzone will struggle with time frames at times, but I don't believe it's fair to accuse of bigger issues. There's also a lot of people that hate him for some stupid things he said so undoubtedly there are some false negative reviews as well.
Following the threads, I haven't seen any scam accusations, but he did have several posts in the past, dropping N bombs. He apparently apologized, but that stuff doesn't just go away. There was another thread where he threatened a reviewer who did a bad review, but I didn't get to see those actual posts. Seems more and more manufacturers are willing to go after reviews they don't like.
