Fun fact, the next video is chosen BEFORE you dislike and clicking next outweighs the dislike because it implies you still like that content. If you want it fair, you should dislike, go back to the homepage, and click the first one.
@IonRubyIf you think that comment is poorly written, then get ready because you’re going to be in a world of annoyance trying to find kids with perfect English skills.
I’m pretty sure dislikes don’t change the algorithm because one time I got cringe gacha life videos on my fyp, and I started to dislike them, but they kept coming, then I chose the “don’t reccomend content” button and it worked. Medium sized story short: You’re using the wrong button
You should try this but with the “Do Not Recommend Channel” button. It should stop you from getting a video from the same channel, making it have more variety.
@@Mr_Tophatt I used it on one of Lankybox’s videos to get rid of Lankybox, the scourge that plagues this platform and drowns the iPad kids in their endless loud noises and editing effects. I can confirm it works.
If only there was a button that actually stopped RU-vid from recommending a genre of videos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please do a follow up where you use the not interested button (the one in the 3 dots)
the reason why the algorithm works like this is because of three things: reference starvation, engagement recommendation, and continuation videos. reference starvation is when you start a new youtube channel and you have no watched videos. thats why it gave you that error at the beginning. if it has no references to previous videos youve watched it has no idea what to recommend you. contributing to this, views only really seem to matter in the algorithm's mind, and if you dislike a video, it wont matter! contributing to THIS factor, youtube will recommend continuing videos (via integer or upload date with a similar title) made by the same channel at the top of the next up list. all of this makes it so that you could get stuck in a loop as long as how many videos a channel has uploaded. hooray!
I was watching casually until I noticed one of my videos in your recommended! (16:13) Also, great video as always, with this content I can see you blowing up as a creator in the future!
The Next button will almost always be related to the previous content you consumed, especially if it's a list in the series. The best method to actually "dislike" every single video would be to individually click "Not interested" on the RU-vid homepage on every video, refresh, and then keep doing so until you find the most obscure videos. The dislike button doesn't do much of anything to counteract the fact you keep on watching the same videos as well (especially since hate-watching is a very real marketing tactic). If you never click a video, it won't know what to recommend you, so avoid doing so at all costs after you are forced to watch the first video. TL;DR, use the "Not Interested" button on every video on the homepage, refresh, and keep doing so for as long as you want for the best results.
it's because you keep pressing next, which clicks on Disney videos so as far as the algorithm knows, you desperately want to watch every Disney video but hate all of them
the problem with youtubes algorithm is that it can start you off with reccomending you some video but then you could get sucked into a rabbit hole that feeds you that exact content forever so youll never escape that type of content unless you actively search for other things
So when I like a video, RU-vid stops recommending me these types of videos, but when you dislike a video, it shows you the same stuff over and over again.
I never use the Next button. Ever. Turns out it was a great idea. The recommended videos section under the currently playing video works well enough for me.
Eleven has that doctors handwriting. Also... you know that the play next button plays the next video that is most similar to the video you are watching right now...? To get the algorithm to work, you need to refresh the home page pick a video from the then go back to the home page and pick a vid from there and so on and so on.
Fun fact, if there is 2 videos with numbers in their titles (for example "videotitle1" and "videotitle2"), it will automatically play the 2nd video when you hit the next button. When he was stuck in the music loop, it thought the years in the titles were the numbers of the video. Therefore it just kept playing boogiehead's content.
here's the summary of the phases: phase 1: duck song phase 2: disney pixar phase 3: 2016 ballerina phase 4: disney channel phase 5: international disney channel phase 6: return of the disney phase 7: classic youtube phase 8: most recognizable songs phase 9: taylor swift phase 10: music playlists phase 11: music edits phase 12: k-pop phase 13: mr beast phase 14: dude perfect phase 15: operation despacito
I think that the button you were using to go to the next video was a button that would first show the channels videos and the go on to an another channel
youtube doesnt care about the dislike buttons. they recommend your videos based on which type you spend the most watching and the one you click on the most. since you kept clicking at the same type of video it thought you wanted to watch more of these videos but then you sometimes got lucky and got something slightly different
how youtube legit works: ok so when clicking the dislike button i dont think its gonna do nothing but if u go to the home page when theres alot of vids recommended theres like some dots and when u click on them u can click "Not interested/Don't recommend channel" so like u should go back to the home page and click not interested each time or smth idfk
try not staying on the video for so long, shortcut to skip a video is shift+n. Just keep your mouse on the dislike button and speedrun 1000 videos and see where you end up. You can always talk about the videos after. Just dont give some videos more watch time than others or youtube will start recomending those more.
i dont know why but i thought disliking every video would make youtube recommend videos from the weird side of the platform, y'know, the same videos you'd get recommended when you typed "." in the search bar a few years ago
Bro forget dislike doesn't work at all It only see viewers want by watching it will recommend you more the more you watch the more you get the same recommendations that's why there's sometimes loop it
i think youtube think that you are angry or something if you dislike a video and the human brain for some reasone like anger or something so youtube still recomends it (just a theory ig)
Yeah, I do think it is ignoring your dislikes when clicking next. You're expecting it to work like TikTok, except the next button counts as a scroll. That RU-vid is creating a feed of videos to keep you mindlessly engaged. But RU-vid's algorithm is not like that. It's based on expecting people to choose which video they want to watch next. And you are picking the next recommended video--the top one on the right column. That's usually a related video. So it thinks you really like videos like that. It expects you to go back and pick a different video from your Recommended if you don't like a video.
