Best of luck to you Richie. I came here 25 years ago with 500 quid in my pocket and now live in Isaan in a house that feels like a resort with a wonderful wife and life so it can be done. Follow your dream and never give up.
Good honest interview Richie don't go partners with anyone wait until you can go it alone it sounds inviting but nearly always ends in tears just my 63 years experience
Love Richie and Maybelle. Have been following Richie's channel since he returned back to Thailand and travelled to Phi Phi to meet up with Maybelle three and a half years ago. Very genuine guy and a great couple.
@@ThairishTimes indeed. Also, good to see you back in Thailand. I know the decision to leave Thailand, and also to leave Ireland can't have been easy, but you do look happy, and many congratulations on your wedding. Nune looked amazing. All the very best for the future for you both.
Excellent interview with great advice and wisdom. I'm married to a wonderful Thai Lady who is educated and has her own assets. She treats me like a king and has wonderful family. Always pick your woman wisely whether here or back in the West. Take responsibility for your own happiness.
Problem is most men that go to Thailand are not romantically street wise even back home, and they ain't prepared for what awaits them, lambs to the slaughter. Most I met were either married at young age (early 20s) then divorce at middle age and no clue with women, the other type are mammy's boys never been in a romantic relationship, mummy dies and they come to Thailand in their 50s-60s ready to crash and burn, and usually lose the inheritance mummy left them 🤦
I really liked his relationship opinion and advice. I live in Sukhothai province with my wife. We've been together for years. All you seem to hear on the internet is if you're in a relationship with a Thai lady it's always some kind of con. That's not always true. Be smart and feel things out. There's lots of good hearted Thai women out there. I'm with one.
Richie we love your place because it’s off the beaten path and is a peaceful beautiful garden atmosphere. We will come see you guys soon in December take care and stay positive live your best life.
I saw Richie's video after the interview and he said that he was nervous and later you both talked without the camera and it would have been a better interview. I would be the same. It's good to see everything coming together slowly. Lovely couple.
Lovely couple , I married a Thai lady , 2 beautiful teenagers now , after 14 years divorced, still have a great friendship with ex , my life is good with regular travels to Thailand. Richie has stated several warning signs regarding his business , location location is critical, seasonal cash flow risky , hardly any people ? RU-vid is his saviour, determined positive attitude keeps him moving forward and a good hard working partner! Enjoy the birth with Maybelle Richie ,life will change forever!
Entrepreneurs like Richie often leverage social media and RU-vid to enhance their business visibility. A strong digital presence can significantly contribute to a business's success, especially in a tourist-driven economy like Phuket. Entrepreneurs often face challenges such as cultural differences, language barriers, and adapting to local business practices, which can be crucial aspects to manage for successful integration and business operation in a new country. Go Richie!
Followed Ritchie from day one and he made COVID lockdowns more enjoyable. Visited his cafe as well and really loved it, especially after following him. Great video, love the genuine and honest point of view. So easy to say that everything is awesome and pretend.
Kodos for re interviewing Richie , When I am in Phuket I always stop in for breakfast and have a chat , be back in Bangkok as my base for a long trip as I love travelling around around southeast Asia.
I hope he gets a huge high season ! Defo not an easy road. Long hours but what a lovely spot. Living the dream in Thai... well we all heard the saying "to earn a small fortune in Thai you better arrive with a big fortune " I hope the season is big this year for all. ❤❤
Nice interview. I follow Richie's channel. He is an interesting guy, very authentic. No risk, no gain. Many startups fail, but Richie has the odds on his side with a great partner, work ethic, positive attitude, business smarts and his outgoing nature. I hope he sees continued success.
Needless to say ....another authentic, relaxed and personable interview Pete . It's takes a lot of courage to do what he did. Very admirable . His feet firmly on Terra earth. Can see him being a great ,protective father too, with a wealth of life experience to steer that paternal ship. He'll get that car park and aircon. 😉😊😊☘️
Have had quite a few different ventures in Thailand and seen a few friends try the usual things ,but for me anyway its fine to have an business or something to keep you busy but better to make money back home and just enjoy yourself in Thailand without the pressure or stress that can come with relying on a business venture there.
It’s hard to be living the dream when you are working, but living a better existence is possibly what it’s about. Then later hopefully you start to live the dream. Good luck to him!! If you don’t try, you’ll never know.
Wow, doesn't time fly? Hard to believe that it was 18 months ago when I watched you interview this guy. This guy is great and his success will continue to grow through his hard work and perseverance. He seems "awkward" as in a Chris Parker Tee Shirt type of awkward, but he has a clear notion of what he has to do to move forward. Top Stuff. I should get one of those 'awkward" shirts myself :)
Great interview. I have been to Richie and Maybelles place several times. I have nothing but respect for them both, they have both worked very hard in difficult times. They are building up a business very well. They have tried to do other stuff, some successful some not - thats the Branson way! I really hope they go from success to success, I will be back there next year and will be getting to the coffee shop for sure
Good video Pete, 3 camera angles.. Geez! Next level editing 😂 Love Richie and Maybelle, they'll do great I'm sure! Will pay them a visit when in Phuket.
In my opinion, this place should also be marketed as a co-working space for digital nomads. It already has wifi so to start he could offer free coworking with a minimum spend on food/drinks. This would boost revenue during the afternoon and off peak season.
I opened up a business in Thailand. Lost a lot of money on it, unfortunately. Not trying to say that it's a bad idea-whoever really wants to try doing it should do it, BUT.... With the economy being more and more controlled by a select few (governments and central banks) through inflation, people (no matter what country they're from) have less purchasing power. It is like the free market is getting squeezed out more and more with each passing day. It doesn't breed the easiest environment to have a small business in by any means...
It is everywhere. People are spending so much money on phones, mobile games, takeaway food, Netflix and other subscriptions that there's not much left for other entertainment.
Only a fool would leave the west to open a business in Asia. You will always get the short end of the stick and the odds are stacked against you. And there's no real market economy in Asia. The west is where the opportunities are. If you don't think so it's because you're a failure. Failures in the west don't do so well in Asia.
3rd world countries for me are where you go after setting up a business not somewhere you go to set up business. Success rate and returns are likely to be much higher in your home country.
Good luck Richie. I remember you saying you had property back in the U.K. that obviously a big help with a solid rental income keeping you going in Thailand.
@miD12000 Certainly does. More you earn the higher the tax bracket you're in. Freedom is having no assets and making black cash. That's true freedom. A simple house still requires land taxes. Don't pay and you lose your asset. Tell me that's freedom.
Another great one Pete, I subscribe to a few podcasters, some of them I found through your chanel, Tims Newton, Steve Ross with an E and a few others. Not one of them comes close to the talent you have especially when it comes to interviews. Just glad your back 😎
💯 percent right what he said about falling in love with bar lady's, becaufull, But most want out of that life and are looking for love, but not a ideal way to find a women...
The only way for a working class person to get into a comfortable financial position is to buy assets. Ritchie needs to put his GF on a high monthly income, 100k plus baht per mont. Six months down the track, send her into the bank for a mortgage to buy a commercial property that will double as a home and a coffee shop. The rent (dead money) he is currently paying for a house and the coffee shop will easily cover the costs of the mortgage. Then on top of that, deprecation on the commercial asset and every thing that is bought for the cafe kicks in. Working class dont get wealthy on selling coffee, they get wealthy on owning the property they sell the coffee in.
Well done to him I hope it goes well. It makes life better in Thailand when you have a good wife. All these guy’s going on with bar girls ends in disaster.
Been waiting for this for a long time! Nice one lad!. EDIT: Pete I noticed you have the white strings on your wrist. I still got mine from my ceremony "asking the ancestors for permission to live under the same roof". Class! Apparently you need to take them off after 3 days.
@@ThairishTimes fair play! I keep putting one (of many I received) on my wrist every 2 or 3 weeks. Coal fire in ireland keeps getting it dirty. The plan is, once I run out of them, I should be back in Thailand. Lol!
10:15 'Thailand, Thailand, and what about you?" I like his attitude. A very sound approach to life in Thailand and not only in Thailand. You can only enter into marriage voluntarily, so if you pick the wrong spouse, who`s to blame?
The flights are expensive, probably one reason for lesser tourists, and when the flights are cheaper, it's like 13 hours in transit in between airports
I'm one of the guys finding the diamond in the rough with a bar girl. Best lady ever, married over 5 years now living in California. Have her daughter with us too. Life is perfect. 👍🙏🤟
Even the best of relationships arent guarenteed. People change...try to change together for the best. Material things dont keep you together. Sex and babies dont keep you together. Love yourself, live in gratitude and you can weather any storms
Worked many years in hospitality. But problem is: today your Hot, Tomorrow your Not. People want to go to the latest venues and hippest places. So they go around and you can do nothing about it. Anyway hope he will work towards his dream!!!
I was one of those who said using a credit card to borrow money was unwise. Well I'm glad he has proved me wrong. But Jesus it seems like you live on your nerves and pray for a good high season. 🙏
Sorry I missed some of your videos. I would like to see how you angled your work permit to establish the business. If it was in your wifes'name was there a problem with her using your foreign money? other hudles to start up?
Great film mate and good support for a great couple with a lovely Coffee Garden. If you are still on phuket, feel free to visit us Nui's Kitchen at Karon Beach. Would be great to see you 🙏🙏👍👍
Richie needs to think outside the square. He is paying rent & wages for half the year but not earning enough income to cover outgoings. He needs something else to be bringing in income during the quiet season?
Good interview. Sounds like a really good & genuine guy, but I saw a lot of stress in his facial expressions. My initial impression was worry that everything is in her name. That seems like it could potentially turn into an untenable situation. She's on board now, but what about in the future if things go south? That said, I truly wish him, his wife and business all the very best success, now and into the future!
Followed @RichieAndMaybelle from the very beginning and they are an inspiration. that first taking a risk with the 24k savings has paid off with hard work and effort.
“If you pick the wrong wife it is your own fault!” He must have magnificent judgement and vision and should probably be publishing books on hoe to achieve - his business shows his talent is something we should be in awe of! So any of you lads who have been conned listen to the voice of strategy - it is your fault!!! Be like this guy - a 47 year old success!
ah cool, I was wondering if you two knew each other or would do a collaboration video... follow both of ya.. have you moved back to Thailand Pete? where's Nune? you didn't leave her in Ireland did ya? lol
Thank you very much for this interesting interview. May be he is happy, but he seams to be very stressed ... Happy, who is fare away from all businesses - Beatus ille qui procul negotiis
