is anyone else like " where are your cats?" lol.... of there we go FINALLY i hear they have a cat sitter. this has plagued my life for a week LOL (ive been home sick forever sorry i dont have much else to think about) LOL
@@jenniicaroline1218 I’m sure she has people checking in on her cats. But also sometimes cat are capable of taking care of themselves. I have a cat and sometimes my family and me could leave for days and we’d come back and our cat would be fine.
They used a mirror for self portraits- a lot of people still do, it’s harder than working from a photograph but it also can make the painting feel more lively and less staged
The vagina painting is actually called “The Origin of the World”, it’s by Gustave Courbet, he was really famous for being extremely problematic and controversial, and also for being an avant-gardiste of realism. This painting is absolutely great in terms of the harmony of its composition and the colors used. I just wanted to add a little bit more about it :)
Absolutely, he was one of the first painter to oppose the Académie's methods and created the Salon des Refusés since he had been rejected by the official Salon. He was one of the only painter willing to go beyond the soft, censored, acceptable nudity imposed by the Académie, and The Origin of the World was one of the biggest scandal there was at the time. He's by far one of my favorite painters 😘
I love how she captures these peaceful everyday moments, like reading on the grass, or an intimate family meal, it makes it look like still art. Really peaceful and just a vibe
Something very cool about Van Gogh’s Bedroom in Arles being all about showing how lonely and isolated he was, and Emma being all about spending time alone and enjoying it. It’s like the 2 sides of being alone
@@joshentertainment2 because of money, I was at the Van Gogh museum in Amsterdam last weekend and it's a little disappointing that they don't have all his most famous paintings
The paying for being able to use the bathroom is very common in Europe. But you’re actually just paying the lady because her job is to clean the toilets throughout the day. So thats why you pay :)
Cos the local councils are too cheap to the cleaner a proper wage, even though they surely make enough money from tourism. Having a sanitary and private place to go to the toilet without being charged should be a basic human right, just like having clean water to drink should be.
@@A-Milly-A yeah agreed, harmful capitalistic practices arent unique to the U.S., i mean what do you do if you have to go to the bathroom, but have no money? Just shit yourself I guess? Or like, don't go out in public or something?
@@leilanidrennan1767 there are free public toilets.. just don't poop into a museum or into a big mall idk.. americans don't understand paying the person cleaning the bathroom, and europeans don't understand paying the waiter. both should be the job of the employer indeed
@@A-Milly-A well they also make you pay (much more) in prestigious places cuz they don't want for the homeless people and poorest people to mix with the high class tourists and parisians ! (which is outraging obv)
I’m proud of Emma for admitting that she doesn’t wanna go home. I think Emma should keep up this Paris NY lifestyle because she can afford to. Many of us can’t and I’m proud of Emma for exploring new things
Self portraits were usually done with a mirror in front of them. It wasn’t the norm to take a photo and paint it so they had a mirror set-up in front of them to make painting easier. Or sometimes they paint themselves from memory.
I love how she doesn’t “clickbait” she could have easily named this vlog “LOST WALLET IN PARIS” like other RU-vidrs would def take that advantage to reel us into watching their video. This is why I love Emma. She’s so effortlessly real.
As a young Art History teacher trying to get my high school students interested in art and using the correct terminology to describe aspects of the piece is hard sometimes. But ima just describe a piece next lesson like, “Another Van Gogh painting that’s just a fucking banger.”
as a senior in high school who took an art history class last year, the best thing my teacher did to get us all exchanged was expressing how interested she was in the paintings and how excited they made her. it made me appreciate it so much more!!
I love how honest Emma is about museums, bathrooms, and all that when traveling. She doesn't try and glorify traveling and gives us such an honest experience.
@@moreadventure3627 I had bought Picasso's Guernica in a small print (like A4). From the museum shop at Picasso's museum.(at Barchelona, although the original painting isn't there, it's in France). Edit :in Madrid, thanks for correcting
Pro-tip: When travelling Europe, always go to the museum's bathroom. Usually free and very nice. Although covid restrictions might have ruined the fun.
@@Zzz3331 You are literally paying for someone to keep them constantly clean and stocked, no one works for free, and the French don't have to pay taxes to cover it :)
I just turned 60 in August and not even remotely what would be considered to be in her demographic viewership, but I just like found her yesterday and just two days in I find her vlogs to be so amazing and oddly calming ... I so glad I found you Emma... Such a fan now.
Whats so sad about Van Goghs self portraits is the fact that in order for him to do then he spent the little money he had left to buy a mirror, it’s so sad🥺🥺 this also explains why in his self portrait after he cut off his ear the bandage is reversed and appears on the right side, because that’s the way he saw it on the mirror
No but they actually had cameras back then! But most of them used mirrors to do self portraits.I study fine arts in college and we talked about that in class today
Hey Emma, I have a fun idea for you: TRY TO PAINT THE BEDROOM BY VAN GOGH and put it on your wall after!! That could be so entertaining!! 👏🏼 you wouldn’t have to buy a replica and you would have something made by you ;)
@@indigrey5533 lord....the original poster meant that she thinks Emma would do well outside of LA. She's not saying Emma has already left for good. She is saying that she should move away.
What do you even know about living in LA? She literally has the same life whether or not she's in Los Angeles. LA isn't the cancer that fuels her depression and anxiety, it's likely Instagram and other social medias that put pressure on her to look and act a certain way. The same pressure will be applied to her wherever she is because her job in on the internet....
Emma and her dad at the end of the video eating, made my absolute day. For me, I don’t see my dad and seeing that was so wholesome and I replayed it so many times and just something about it was so heartwarming. Love them both
the way shes filming is like shes capturing all the perfect moments that go unnoticed because they aren't some big display, like the shot of the lady feeding the birds and the cellist they werent extraordinary but it was just kinda perfect idk how to explain but yea
It actually is a mall... Le Carrousel du Louvre is a small shopping centre underneath the Louvre Pyramid. It has shops such as Pandora, Nature & Découvertes, Printemps and Pylones :)
@@margotmcdonald7585 oui mais du coup c'est pas un centre commercial comme les autres lol comment elle l'a dit ça fait vraiment random ^^ d'ailleurs le fait que ce soit le Louvre explique que les toilettes soient payantes je pense
@@zoeymcilwain3499 The Louvre is the name of the museum, but they built a shopping area right next to the museum (where the toilets were haha) so its technically part of the same building
Even if the LOUVRE was a place where you bought things ... Wouldn't that basically be just a mall. Calling it the "Louvre" doesn't make it anymore than it is !!!
I love how she literally is so mature in any situation. Also, her confidence in herself is so inspiring. Just the fact that she doesn’t care about what anybody thinks of her is awesome.
I’ve noticed that she has grew to that point during the past year or so. Before that she wasn’t that way to me. I actually enjoy watching her way more now with her more mature outlook on life. It feels personal not just entertainment, you know?
you're literally the best friend everyone wishes they had. Every video is full of so much nostalgia in a way & I'm so grateful we get to see you grow & experience things others can't.
my parents travelled the world together in their 20’s and it’s the biggest thing that they’re glad they did. You learn a lot and most people regret not travelling so it’s normal to feel like u do right now Emma !
i’m so obsessed with this girl it’s so crazy how far i’ve watched her grow as a person and i’m so glad and just thankful i’ve watched her grow and has never lost her personality love you so much emma
@@MichaelJCervantes if she is quote on quote “over rated” why are u watching this video? And why are u obsessing over her in the comment section? Almost every comment I click on to see the reply’s your replying to the comments and saying something negative abt Emma. Just admit your obsessed with her already
The way you described museums is exactly the way everyone should feel in museums. I wish I could tell my 10 year old self I would one day enjoy the fuck out of museums. Would have saved me a lot of pain.
As someone who has dark circles like Emma’s, seeing her rock them and look gorgeous makes me feel like trying it out. I haven’t left the house without concealer in basically 11 years (since I was 14) .. even getting the mail without it I hide my face.
People still use mirrors for self portaits😂 pictures aren’t as good of a reference because it makes everything flat and then your painting/drawing will also look flat. Most people use both mirror and photo tho
This video made me get out of bed and not in the “today is the day to succeed” kind of way but in a “today the sky is pretty” kind of way. So thank you so much for the encouragement ✨
@@kxtns yeah the environment is definitely different from each state and also cities because certain states are more rural and some more urban and even the cities are different in architecture and the transportation which makes the lifestyles different.
This might sound really weird, but I can only imagine how proud your dad is of you. Like, from what I can tell through my screen, you are such a genuinely cool person. He must be pumped to have you as a kid
THANK U for showing the annoying side of travelling too. There’s nothing worse than never finding a bathroom, losing shit, not knowing the local rules and getting scolded. Lmao 🤣 it’s a lot sometimes.
Okay...but can we take a moment to talk about how the camera she uses is an "older" camera but literary like if it was anyone else using this camera then it wouldn't look as aesthetically pleasing as it does in her videos!...love you so much emma!
There’s actually 3 versions of The Bedroom painting that Van Gogh did, the other two are in Amsterdam and Chicago. He painted the same bedroom at different times in his life
something about Emma and her dad just spending time together in Paris gives me so much joy. God knows I would love to travel with my parents like this🤍🤍
I got all excited to click on your channel when I saw Budgeting with kiara I was about to see home great videos on how to budget and dupes and such and …. Nope
there’s nothing wrong with buying a van gogh reproduction by another painter. you should do if you really love the painting- living with it, you get to know it differently
really thank you emma for posting these videos. they give me motivation to take a shower, put on a cute outfit, eat a nice healthy meal, try cooking something new. you have such an impact and i thank you so much
She’s so lucky that she wasn’t actually pickpocketed. Happens to so many Americans visiting Paris, if not careful. Kinda amazing to get that wallet back!
Visited both Paris and Rome. Haven't gotten pickpocket once. You just have to be a smart traveller and you won't get pickpocketed or scammed even. Always do research before travel
@@ariannawestley ofc yes actually my schoolmate got her wallet stolen in the metro but that's what u get for putting your backpack at the back. I was literally pregnant the entire Rome trip cus I had my backpack on my stomach at all times outside 🤣
Emma there is an art museum in New Jersey called Grounds For Sculpture and they have a room replica of your favorite painting that you can go in and sit on the chair or bed and take photos in!! not too far from NY :)
I am really enjoying the Laissez-faire editing style she and her crew have adopted lately. The final scene of Emma and her Dad having a last meal in Paris has the perfect melancholic music and lingers for just the right amount of time before cutting to black.

can we talk about how Emma's video cinematography is just chefs kiss?? The shorter shots of the city are amazing??? They capture the life of the city so well
lmao same, my dad went to france and got pickpocketed - but, he used a fake decoy wallet and the pickpocketer who stole it returned it right after she realized there was no money lol but my dad decided to give her $10 being the guy he is
I thought that was what the lady in the bathroom was doing hahahah like distracting her while she was getting robbed. Wow we gotta have some more faith in humanity...
that is indeed my favourite vlog of emma , something about this video is so relaxing , her voice , the view ,PARIS , art . everything about this video is perfect
The whole toilet situation IS horrifying and omg I would’ve been so dramatic and been like get away from me lady ur a scammer and I gotta take a poo HAHHAHA ily emma too iconic
Bestie, if you don’t wanna go back to LA don’t feel forced to stay just cos u just got a new house. You can put it up for rent and just go to nyc or wherever you’ll feel better.
Emma saying Coraline is her favourite movie makes me so happy thatit's mine because I've been laughed at because I like the movie but now I feel so much more comfortable with liking it.
I can literally feel the panic she feels while looking for her wallet like loosing something super important somewhere and you’re not actually sure if you left it there or like what if someone just stole it like it kind of makes you a little manic but then nothing compares to when you find it like that is true relief/ gratitude, for real nothing can get you down after that and you’re just happy you’re not going to have to call and explain this to your parents
I feel you on finding a bathroom in Paris. Pay bathrooms are notoriously common in Europe and it’s crazy that the concept of paying to pee is a thing. Supposedly there are free bathrooms but they are less clean and notoriously hard to find.
@@Hellojanoskians just cause it’s normal to Europeans doesn’t mean it’s normal. Luckily pay toilets were ruled as discriminatory against the poor in the US during 20th century so we don’t have to deal with that bullshit
I think it became a thing because a lot of people - including tourists - used to use the bathrooms in restaurants, coffee shops, etc, and not buy anything from there. So now, if you want to use the bathroom and not buy anything, at least you pay a small price to go in (bc we can not forget about the people who clean it, water, paper, soap, etc). At the same time, in a lot of places if you buy something they let you in for free.
Exploring Paris and especially art places with your dad is so cool. Seeing famous paintings in real life is a whole other experience. The brush strokes make it 3-dimensional and you can feel the painting and energy in such a different way. Also "I love you, I can't wait to use your toilet, I don't want to fight with you" was just perfect.
"Some man just looked at me like I killed his family" LMAOO I ALMOST CHOKED ON MY FOOD- I love her vids sm, they bring calmness and comfort when watching her and helps when I'm eating! Also one of my favorite movies is Coraline too 😌
