Lack of supervision…and tbh very suspect as GW being the corporate machine they are, I doubt they wouldn’t have approval processes for every single thing that the company puts out, especially with 40k as it’s their pride and joy
@@SewerSpratas a seperate army codex but they were well established in lore. And by all accounts, SoB were part of the “daemon hunters” codex years ago before branching off, same with the death watch but they are getting their codex scrapped now, point is even if an army isn’t “an army” until much later, there’s still lore that goes back further.
If the twitter statement and blocks were a "rogue intern without approval" they would have issued a retraction or at least unblocked. If you got blocked over this, and you are still blocked, then GW approved.

The article that she cited in the video in question who gaslit every true fan was way worse. Also just to clarify what are you talking about it's called access media and that why even before the "legacy media" started with the weird/non common sense takes people stopped taking them seriously because they knew that they were not honest for fear to lose the access to the next "thing". In this case now people and true fans know about the honesty(in an hobby were you litterally buy overpriced plastic with your hard earned money)of this channel and will reccomend to others etc. The channel will loose what? a couple of items for review but will gain pently of people and good faith from them... who will see reviews of other products from others (better) brands. Also just to end and already long post xD You can see the usual pettiness/attacks on the fans in the other medias how it working... AAA gaming it's flop after flop and layoffs after layoffs and mid 2025 start 2026 we will see the rise of AA and indies... @@redscope897 Valrak hasn't leaked anything. He's responded on leaks others have made. He does highlight rumors that he believes are true, and has had quite the track record over the last few years. Companies who cut ties with content creators just because they are being honest and using constructive criticism shouldn't be stealth blacklisted by eg GQ. They should take on feedback both good and bad and use it to make the best products they can.

A true and true hobbyist. Doesn't matter who she is, what she does, etc. matters that the hobby is the medium which unites those with the same interests in said hobby. Because soo much has become mainstream, we get tourists and invaders who just want to destroy. The equivalent of hearing that people like a restaurant and go there because they like steak and you go there as well, say that you have always been a fan but they need to remove steak from the restaurant because you don't like it because you are vegan. And there are way too many of them infesting everywhere to the point a hobby fan's voice is silenced instantly, funniest thing is most don't even contribute or purchase into the hobby.

It’s all too common; the “unknown intern” argument is used by a lot of companies. Any company as large as GW has multiple avenues of approval for everything, especially with how “corporate” they are.
The behaviour of GW needs to be called out here. Just because a RU-vidr gives constructive criticism and I remember from your original video about it, offering a solution about releasing more Sisters of Battle models (let's sell more plastic! Great idea) if they wanted to support a more DEI direction. If your content was promoting hatred and violence then I get it, saying that you don't agree with something, gets you ghosted, my god that company needs to grow a pair of balls and grow up.
I’m not saying it’s directly connected, but this rumor reminds me of something Rob (The Honest Wargamer) has mentioned once or twice on the Juggz podcast - he’s alluded to (seemingly at least half serious) that the main lore narratives of the Necromunda campaign books essentially criticize GW management and senior leadership, and so so blatantly, but that the author(s) get away with it because clearly nobody’s bothering to read the lore (amongst said leadership and management). If that’s true, I could possibly see an editor tossing in a lore grenade like women Custodes to prove a point. Or I could see someone hearing Rob’s comments and twisting that into a conspiracy theory that this is another thing that sneaky staff are getting past a GW management that fans assume doesn’t care about the lore.
I think there’s a distinct difference between lore than can be interpreted as criticism of the GW higher ups while remaining true to the source material, and the blatent “modernisation” attempt that was female custodies. One is made for the game and lore, the other is made for the person who wrote it; and no one else.

lore grenades... cool term, but sadly so indicative of the times... I'm not a true 40K fan. I read some of the earlier HH (basically a scam considering they're still milking it afaik) and I used to collect some Fantasy and 40K miniatures back in the day (like twenty years ago) but even I can see that female custodes are ridiculous and not needed. Politics aside, this was just unnecessary. There's already two massively respected factions in 40K that exclusively feature women. Also the IG/IA also has literally BILLIONS of female characters. This is so lazy or whatever it is. The Cavill Series seems doomed, even if it gets off the tarmac. I've seen some good 40K official animation, but it is paywalled in the worst way... 40K streaming lmao. They're already dealing with Prime, they should just produce in house and then dump it on Prime. They would get them so much more exposure. Anyhow with the success of Fallout's show, the inevitable march to a 40K show begins and you betcha it will be "modernized." Grimdark is a guilty pleasure of mine even if it is a little angsty at times. There's still so much potential with this universe after all this time. I literally just want to see some either animation or live action of Magnus the Red busting into the Throne Room in an explosion before I die, or Slaaneshi Knights, or any number of high level HH engagements, or Vulkan just murderizing people. The visuals alone are so great, and I really appreciate the psychological/existential/philosophical implications of manifestation and parallel dimensions. 40K lore was already rigged from the start though, and beyond the literal grim future of the franchise, it was always plagued with the lack of even potential for a happy ending or just a conclusion of any kind. It can be overwhelming to the point of turnoff and this current trajectory will probably only worsen my outlook on 40K. I wish we could go back to the 2000s when the lore was soooo damn fresh. Stuff has just gotten a bit played out even before this woke spearhead on Warhammer. I think the Primaris debacle also cheapened the tabletop so much... It was so poorly handled, just like this situation. Ew, GW sucks so much now. Not only are they fleecing their fans for generations lmao... now they are also spitting in their hardcore fanbase's faces... and with 40K the whole fanbase is pretty hardcore. I can tell you as a reader of comics for the last 3 decades, experience and understanding of the source material is not a requirement to be an Editor in today's world. Most of the Editors I see, act as if they can just make it up or read a quick page on Wikipedia. Understanding isn't necessary.

As a former GW MO troll and retail muppet I can confirm that absolutely everything HMBohemond is absolutely and unequivable false. I've been out of GW a while now but I've seen quite close up how the company operates and I could spend ages debunking all that hes posted, but needless to say that any response on Social Media has to be approved, there are no interns, GW has a paid social media manager and a senior management team that sets out the policies for it. GW tightly controls its social media output, just look at how they operate the painting teams. Any editorial changes made to a codex/army book in the studio have to be approved by multiple parties before its allowed in. Side note: one of my major pains with GW is that the Studio and White Dwarf teams are not allowed to communicate or share information. Its why you see so many mistakes regarding things like Chapter Lineage. Bohemond seems to make this nonsense up to suit whatever narrative hes pushing and will change his tune to suit that narrative. I do not trust him or value any claim he makes. I'm not going to post any personal info to confirm my history with GW (other than to say Jervis Johnston once swore at me in the old Fanatic office).

Well, GW is just a sh!tshow. They only do something if the profit takes a hit. Other creators of games deserve more attention. Like "The 9th Age". Have you heard from it? They released a new edition and it's really good. I would love to see a video of it if you like the game.

GW is a big enough company that you can have "left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing" and factions within the company that have different... priorities... than the top management. There's probably more people than the two mentioned but those two may well have acted on their own believing they had more support within the company that was the case. But if the CEO is "big mad" it shouldn't be too hard to have a statement issued that clears it all up.
Yea but publicity is a huge part of GW atm, they’ve spent a lot of time and money to achieve the image they have, so having a situation where the company wasn’t able to function or communicate effectively get out in the public is a huge boo boo and shows a lack of competence of the board, and the boardroom execs will do anything to remain there. Hence why I think GW memory holes the whole thing and quietly made it irrelevant in the public eye.

Old GW lore nerd here: the company (particularly the Black Library side) has been notoriously bad when it comes to QC editorial controls (typos, spelling errors, lore contradictions, you name it) for the last couple decades. An intern going rogue and slipping stuff in the codex that no one except the actual customers notice lore-wise is very, very plausible. As for the CEO being 'big mad' but not make a statement about it... 2-parts saving face, 1-part hoping that not addressing the issue will make it go away, especially since they're trying to get the 40k tv show deal with Amazon worked out.
The fact that they have done this to you, of all people - someone who has been supportive and passionate about their product - is disgusting and exposes their activist elements. The rumour sounds exactly as you say: a cover-up that doesn't ring true remotely in the way they've treated you and others. Please keep posting about things you enjoy and things you want to support as your content is great and there will be other brands who dont take it for granted like GW does.
an Edito may not be well versed in the lore or content that it is in the material at hand, an editor is a tecnician in lenguage AND in making the material readable. it means that, to a given extent, he has just to make sure the verbs are properly cinjugated, the sentences are properly structured and the punctuation is in order and paragraph and structure is used to draw attention to any iven passages in the writings that need attention. this is, more or less, the rule of thumb. then there are proof reader that check not only that the editor did everything in his purview properly but reconcile it with lore, history, bonduaries of what can (and can not) be published. there are also translator on two layer that does the same: first layer properly translate, second layer make it fly... as an Italian and former sales manager of a pubblisher (sales means long tedious presentation to distributors...) I have been subject to the shortfall of this process many time... Tom Clancy's book are wonderfuly translated, untill (and it happen very often) the author used some miliatry slang, at that point, the translator and editors fell short in their job and the proofreaded had no military knowledge, so the book is not as well written as it is in native english... so now we need to decide: either GW/BL is not properly staffed and they don't have the manpower to do their job properly OR they are pushing a message that may or may not be acceptable to their customer base AND they are not doing it to improve the lore but for pure political reason. Now, just go look at what they have done in other stuff, opening themselves to leagl action (serious ones). To make a long story short: GW lost an amazing opportunity to do the right thing, shame on them.
If GW higher ups weren't involved then they they would have immediately reversed the decision and issue a retraction at the least and unblocked the twitter users. This was in fact a GW decisions.
I gotta agree with you here @swordnsteele712 The feeling I am getting from all of this is that Games Workshop decided to be woke, I don't think it was one troll editor, or one rogue intern... That's a bullshit line. I think they tried to be work, when there was a backlash they figured they would go "all in" with their tweet in support of their decision and their lie saying it has always been that way and - it just backfired horribly. Now they are in damage control mode and looking for a scapegoat to blame this all on so they can say "no, it wasn't use, see that unknown intern? It was him, he went AWOL and we don't even really know his name!". I would have had much more respect for GW if they said something more real... "Hey guys, look, we know some of you don't like it, but it is really difficult to make everyone happy in the world today, we tried and it didn't work, we'll fix it and try to do better moving forward, thank you all for your input". Sisters of Battle is one of the coolest armies they have, if they want more women characters put more time into that!!!! Next they will introduce "Brothers of Battle" and say "No, there were always Brothers in the Sisters of Battle". UGH.
GW still hasn't fixed it. GW could have added a Noble house like House Escher and stated that since the males of that house are not fit to be Custodes. With every Noble House on Terra has to submit young males to Legio Custodes but since this Noble House's males are not suitable they send young females instead so the House does not loose any shame. This would have been a lot better than "It always been".
I haven't bought anything gw since. Got a 3d printer and have been having a blast with it. The lore retcon was sloppy and unnecessary. But that wasn't what sucked. What sucked was watching fans get gaslit and banned for voicing any pushback at all - even nicely.
I think it would’ve been more acceptable if constantine valdor would have to recruit a new army on far away planets with the strongest warriors found on the planets without following the normal routine out of necessity. To fight the threaths he encounters whilst fighting for the imperium.

Lets be real they're one of the worst managed companies on earth nowadays. They're like Disney, just active intentional contempt towards their fanbases. It is one of those things where I like what it used to be so much that I want it to die now to preserve what it was and let other games that aren't just hateful of their players thrive.
Being a fan of GW products, seeing them make record profits, then seeing them continue to hike their prices on their already expensive products, using FOMO, taking down Astartes, making a subscription service, no games in stores... No good thing their passionate fans do for them goes unpunished. It's like being in an abusive relationship. At least their sculpts are good I guess. Naomi, it sucks to see that they pulled the rug on you and no doubt your channel has taken a hit, but the fact that you spoke your mind is commendable and honorable and I think in the long run it will work out. Personally I have taken a break from buying anything GW, they have no honor, they have no respect for their fans, I have no respect for them, and I have enough pile of shame to keep me occupied for years anyway.
I believe this when GW official comes out and says "Since the first of the Ten Thousand were created, there have only been male Custodians." lol Ok, at the very least they have to retract the female Custodes official for me to give them any benefit of the doubt on this one. Cool video, it does seem silly. It is well known that Games Workshop cancel creators that have any criticism on there actions, it is pretty poor behavior.
The the more I think about this the more ridiculous it is. Thing is, even if this rumor was the absolute truth, what has GW done about it to fix it publicly? Nothing. Therefore its irrelevant because ultimately, it still falls on GW to correct the mistakes of the their employees and make sure the public knows the truth.

Yeah, back in the day they used to sell both male and female models of most of their early range, but store owners complained the females weren’t selling. So for cost and profit reasons, they created lore fluff as to why it’s a massive sausage party.
@@JedrekVRoscoethe same lore fluff they are gradually adding more female characters to, I’ve read a lot of the new IG and imperium books, a lot of women soldiers in there, not that that’s a bad thing imo, Minka Lesk is a cool af character, and the SoB and SoS are a thing too, so it’s way more diverse. And that was as you said “back in the day”, so the brand reflected the customer base, which is largely the same.
Which is why lore changes, retcons etc make no sense if isn't there to justify new model releases and there were no new models being released and none planned as far as I know, not even resin head swaps.

obviously game workshop undergoes the ideology of inclusivity and diversity just like the lord of the rings before him who wants to smooth out the lore or the characters as much as possible to create a blur and make anything and everything out of it.

There's no way the editor thought that the lore didn't matter lol. It'd be cool to ADD lore instead of changing it. There were so many ways to make the female custodes work like implementing new sisters of silence lore. But to contradict it completely? Blades of khaine are a cool example of this. Bad@ss ninja women who are one of my fav AoS factions could easily fit as a faction in 40k. Would be cool to see a full women chaos faction or something like that. So, as a primarily AoS fan, I find this whole tweet sus. While it's not as popular as 40k, AoS *is* the most popular Fantasy Table Top game out there right now. The Old World is doing well, but the money maker is still AoS on the fantasy side. DEI hasn't really affected AoS as there was already precautions in place for this. They don't have specific gender factions (Besides Orruks and Khaine girls (Fyreslayers used to be men only too, but recent lore developments have made it so they need female's on the front line)), and skin color doesn't seem to matter that much to them. Not just that, all of Gamesworkshop defended this decision, so much that they told the community to suck it up or move on. This whole tweet is a lie
Ever since the birth of AoS, there's been certain types of fans who hate everything related to it and want it to fail. At first I thought it was some bitter FB fans who needed a scapegoat for their frustrations but in recent years it's most definitely been some of the anti-woke crowd.
Sounds circumspect, but GW wants absolute control and doesn't like hearing negative press. I think it was done for gain and inclusion and doesn't care about it's properties as long as they can sell books to appease shareholders. I hate they are trying to censure you. I've dealt with them as a game store employee and a store owner. They really have been clueless since becoming publicly traded. This whole thing feels just like a try to grab customers. Its silly. Honestly at this point I've given up on 40k. I've seen them ruin the lore over and over. It's so mentally and emotionally tiresome seeing this shut happen on repeat. I'd love to fight for my hobby but it brings me no joy anymore.
The editor sounds like the laziest reason anyone couldve come up with and I would be flabbergasted to hear if it was true. The intern story I could sort of belivieve, the GW twitter account was blocking people who disagreed, and the tweet seemed pretty haphazard. Sorry to hear about the GW partner thing stopping, but from what ive heard they are notorious for dropping or not sponsoring people if they arent 99% GW positive or ignore big issues with the company and its products. I cant prove that of course, but if you look at which channels ARENT sponsored/endorsed and those who are it seems clear to me. The way I see it GW is a grossly mismanaged company so I would not be surprised to see something like this happen again.
Think many already exposed GW for going woke a while now in several videos, so I don't buy for a second they don't have part in any that stuff. Doesn't make sense they would have CFO leaving and selling stocks, I mean if you knew those stocks were going to worth a lot. You probably try get much more out of them, so think the former CFO knew the direction things were going and opted to get out while the iron was still hot so to speak of.
Companies need a fall guy when they are looking their customers, i think what a lot of these people are learning is its not hard to boycott them, you don't neeeeeeeeeeeeed their stuff to get good Warhammer stuff and its a hobby so its easy enough to put it aside for a while as well. Of couse it was an intern. Please, shareholders, do not be alarmed that our final editing is done by the same intern that makes decision about content creators. I won't buy gold space marines, like I won't buy any other colour because I find them boring, but female custodes made them a bit more interesting. If you want a few ideas about other sets, Frostgrave wizards 1 and 2 are, to me, essential for kitbashers because of the wide variety of male and female faces, arms with hands and extras (among which animals and tiny goblin)
