I totally agree with fif on this... I had a child out of wet lock when I was in the military, and her mom put me through hell. My daughter doesn't talk to me anymore. I may have messed up in the relationship, but never the child. She was supported the best that I could, looking back at my parents it wasn't the best, but I'm sure at least they did what they thought was best. And like he said "children aren't equal to their parents" and that's good or bad, it could go either way. I hope the best for my oldest, but she's grown, I know she doesn't owe me shit, but still love her

What I'm seeing in the comment section that a lot of people don't understand is this! Once your child reaches a certain age there is NOTHING you can do as a parent to have a relationship with them if THEY decide they don't want one with you. At a certain point you as the parent become the fool for constantly trying to reach out to them. The only thing you can do is fall back and hope one day they get their act together and reach out to you. A message for men is this...... do what you can do to have a relationship with your child. If the child is disinterested then you can live with a clear conscience knowing that you did what you could. Children become adults with their own destiny and lessons they need to learn. This is sad. My dad passed away in February and I miss him. Last year I was going through a lot of turmoil with him and he said that he didn’t want to see me anymore. I hired lawyers to help me, but they did nothing. He later changed his mind and I was able to see him a few times, but it was difficult for me and I felt like the whole world was against me at that point. I really hope that 50 Cent can reconnect and reconcile with his son.

The dad I wish I had, NOT AT ALL due to his status/ money, can't care less about it. But due to his mind, the LOVE he has for his son, there is NO price for the PRIVILIGE of his guidance, providing direction in life and among other things the fortitude and integrity to stand still and notvgive in, to me there is NO love greater than that. I think children can be ungrateful but when they are small, maybe up to young teens they just value that you are around. My son can be super ungrateful for what I do but every now and again when I do ask what he’s grateful for he will say something like I appreciate you are always here. I think presence is important. Most kids remember that you didn’t show up or you missed a birthday or the day they waited and you didn’t turn up especially if you are always not turning up and then imaging when you are 50 cent, your dad doesn’t show up but you be seeing him on TV with all his ‘friends’. I think that’s hard for a kid.

I feel like I have to write this here. Read it if you want. I grew up in a struggling asian family, so my relationship with my dad was not good. He had 4 other children, all my siblings. He would yell at us all the time because he has trouble controlling his temper. One thing goes wrong, bang, you getting yelled at, and it goes on and on too. And those words cut deep as well. He would remind me of times he’d disappointed me in the past in his rants. It happened so often that I don’t think I can give you more good memories with him than I can tell you the bad ones. I hated the man. Let’s put it like that. They moved the family to Norway, and we all been living together since. Just to paint a more vivid picture, life before the move was hard. It was actual poverty. After we moved here, we start to earn money and you can buy almost anything you could want and need. So long as you work for it. This mellowed him down a lot because all the weight was on his shoulders back then. He not working, we not eating. I’m 28 now, and I talk to him like a man would. I have to check him when he can’t control his temper and starts to say wild shit and so forth. When he says something disrespectful to my mother, I’m off my Seat and check him. Also being an adult now, I have conversations with him all the time now. We would talk about motorcycles for hours. Look at that. We’re bonding. We’re grown men and we just started our actual father-son relationship. He’d smiled more since the move than I had ever seen him smile in my childhood. I went to visit him at the hospital today because he got gallstones, and was admitted that morning. I sat with him there as the doctors are explaining things, and I am lazered in. My dad doesn’t speak great Norwegian, but I do. I wanted to help the man as much as possible. After the doctor left, I’m standing over him while he lay on his bed, and explained to him what the doctors had said. I answered his questions too. Tomorrow, they’re gonna operate on him. I’m scared to death. People say it’s a normal procedure. But I am here scared shitless of the thought of something may go wrong somehow and he dies. We had just started our relationship. Then this shit happens. Back then, if you’d asked me what I thought of my father being in a hospital I probably would have not give a shit. I hated the guy. But now, I dont even know what I’m gonna do if we lose him. What kept us was the lack of resources. 50 probably has all the resources in the world, so I guess in his case it’s backwards My point for writing all this simple. I spoilt my daughters with love and material things, husband passed away from brain tumour, I worked while trying my best to give them love while grieving myself ( met at 17 ) he passed at 43, I looked after him and then covid happened two coworkers left I was expected to work a six day week 8 am to 7 pm , things happened because I wasn’t there in the house , I can tell they both blame me , but no one helped , so our relationship is now strained and told the other day I wasn’t around enough , breaks my heart ( bills to pay ) hoping with time they both realise I burnt myself out trying to please everyone, feel whatever I did wasn’t good enough as dad was gone

My mom uses the same tactic, I did not ask to be born, that was on all you and what you wanted and I was born into an unhealthy family which I also did not ask for. No kid owes a parent anything if we did not ask to be born and that's what parents keep forgetting.
