They're currently ever so subtly and microscopically "rugby curious", we should be pouncing on that, "yep, here is some rugby for you, it is called the NRL, it is like the NBA of rugby". That is how you attack this. Not "it's not rugby, it's league!!!!", that will only make americans say "oh... my mistake... bye" and then they will go find "real rugby". Absolutely! I'm Australian, grew up playing rugby league. I've watched a bit of NFL and I know this guy was a very very good player. But getting back to his hands. I'm 6 foot 4 and my hands when stretched open are 10 inches from little finger tip to thumb tip. This guy has big, big hands. Jack Reacher hands. Just saying.

It is rugby league which is a completely different sport than rugby and none of these guys wear pads or helmets. Your man may have been hit harder, which is debatable however he is protected from alot of the impact. Rugby League players are not protected at all.

I really don’t think V’landy’s goal is for the Americans to fall in love with the game of Rugby League and grow the game in the US. He just wants to educate the Americans enough about the game so they can wager on it. If he can capture a small fraction of the $100b in wagering in the US then I think he has done his job.
