I think Living Traditions Homestead bought a tee post pounder, not an auger although I do like an auger for planting trees as it digs a hole. The pounder just pounds those tee posts into hard ground without much effort. The chicken tractor will make a good shelter. Augers and tee post pounders are expensive though.

Block the end of the chicken tractor to give them wind break on 3 sides. Needed to keep the feed efficiency up. Less cold stress means food goes to growing.

Pigs have an amazing memory for where the electric fence line is and they rarely will cross it even if its no longer there.

Jole Saliatin recommends using a gate for pigs to exit and enter. Just a small place that has no electric wire in front of it. We had the same thing happen with our pigs not wanting to cross the wire line but using a gate solved it. We also use the same kind of wire but do 3 strands, without the barrier but…pigs get out when they want too. usually ours only escape after we moved them and when we wait too long to feed them in the morning. It takes 2 of us about 3 hours to move our pigs. We’re going to harvest our first pig in February. Keep up the good work 👍

I have never had Pasole made with anything besides pork. Seems like everyone uses different kinds of dried chilies (I use pasilla chilies) but uses pork for the meat. I definitely love a little finely shredded cabbage and a dollop of sour cream on top.
