Tony was unique in that he didn't want ANYTHING from Jeannie. He got used to her just enough to have her around the house, and share a "platonic" relationship, breakfast, and so on. Of course, he cared about her- but his career as an Air Force officer- and his own dating arrangements- came first. He also didn't want Doctor Bellows to get TOO suspicious about having her around.
@@fromthesidelines Dr. Bellows eventually DID find out about Jeannie in the season 5 episode Hurricane Jeannie, but that turned out to be a dream sequence for Major Nelson.
Loved this show back in the 70,s Barbara Eden was so beautiful and she still is ! I had a massive crush on her and I was only 11 years old . The show was also very funny and it's still funny today !
Sidney Sheldon decided the "love triangle" he created in the pilot episode between Jeannie, "Master" and Melissa was not going to work out on a weekly basis {the only "threesome" that EVER worked out in any form of media is the one between Archie, Betty and Veronica- and that's been going on for almost 80 years!}. So Sidney made the decision to eliminate "Melissa Stone" as soon as possible; he did it in the fourth episode telecast {written by the Waldman brothers, and "polished up" by him}, "Jeannie and the Marriage Caper". It was Karen Sharpe's second and final appearance as "Melissa".

Imagine if larry hagman and barbara eden were cast on the show and married in real life as well.. That would have given a different vibe to the show. It would have probably seem more realistic.
This show exemplifies what can go wrong with society. When a super hot beautiful magical blonde genie in a pink outfit throws herself at her man every week, but he would rather sit there reading the newspaper and watching football instead of doing the horizontal bop on her 24/7. This show is twisted and evil!
And there you have the perpetual conflict between Jeannie and Tony. He really doesn't want her around, because he'd rather do things for himself and date other women {and she usually screws him on both counts}- yet when he DOES accept her to the point where she feeds him, and takes care of "little things" for him, he sometimes doesn't go far enough to admit his true feelings for her.....and not paying enough attention to her romantic advances. He also has Doctor Bellows to worry about, too. Every time this kind of situation happens, Tony will insist, "Of course, I'm not jealous!". WE know he *is.*
DP2495567 - Where did you hear that from??? In real life they were very good friends. In fact, Barbara admitted to having a huge crush on him in her book. She even considered having an affair with him but chose not too. Out of all the male actors she has worked with - Elvis Presley, Desi Arnez, Andy Griffith, Paul Newman, William Shatner, Fred Astaire, etc...she stated that Larry Hagman was her favorite. She commented several times about the connection they both shared. In fact, her and Larry spoke of it on many occasions while visiting one another. As for Larry Hagman, in interviews and at comic cons with fans, he would always speak about how Barbara was just as beautiful on the inside, as she was on the outside. Here’s a nice little tidbit, in his memoirs, he admits that he was in love with her, despite being married to Maj. He often referred to Barbara throughout his life as “the one he let get away.” The reason he didn’t return for the two sequels to IDOJ was because of conflicting schedules with his hit tv show, Dallas. Barbara states this in several interviews.

DP2495567 - No, you’re fine, hun. I just thought you would like to know that in this instance, they did actually get along. Now, its a known fact that Larry was difficult on set. But mainly because he kept fighting for better scripts. Barbara and Bill Daily both backed him on this but were too afraid to approach the producer of the show, so Larry went at it alone. But Larry was close with Barbara, Bill and Hayden. Have a blessed day, sweetie!
I didn't like this show when it was new, and I was a child, and still don't like it. Tony was the master, yet Jeannie did everything on her own, and never thought of any consequences to Tony. She was so irritating. Roger was a greedy moron. Now days, at my age, the show is even more irritating. It wasn't funny when new. I watched My Favorite Martian and Bewitched when new, and still like them, but no one on those shows were annoying or acted stupid.
Actually you are correct. I felt the same thing. When Jeannie didn't get her way she punished Tony. But that is what the show was about. Tony disagreeing with Jeannie. Jeannie doing something to Tony. Then Tony explaining his way out of the situation to Dr. Bellows. Roger tagged along for the ride. 😀
