The smartest thing this movie did was give Shigeru Miyamoto final say when it came to story and casting. He as the creator of Super Mario knows his creation the best
Princess Peach literally has her own game called ‘Super Princess Peach’, which got released on the Nintendo DS back in 2006 (2005 in Japan). People who are complaining about how she’s portrayed in the movie are just looking for something to complain about.
They just don't want to see women thrive, only want to see them stay side characters and do something cool every once in a while. As soon as it seems like the woman might be better than the man all hell breaks loose.
even before that, she was a playable character in Super Mario Bros 2 (1988), so anyone complaining about that is just a hater and has no sense of who Peach is or what she's contributed to the Super Mario Bros universe.
One of her powers in that game is to literally cry 💀 as loud as she can. It shakes the screen and floods the area. Even with its utility, if one of a characters powers is to whine and cry, then that's embarrassing lmao. Not a really good example tbh
First of all, I love your costume. Secondly, Jack Black did such an amazing job as the Koopa King. I swear, any role that man touches turns to gold. His love ballad "Peaches" will forever be at the top of my personal best songs list.
They didn't alter Keegan's voice. That's actually him. He did it live on a talk show. He's amazing as Toad and doesn't get the love he deserves for this. We love & appreciate the commitment Mell! 😂
i love the way they portrayed princess peach in this movie. it’s good to see something different from the typical “pretty princess needs help” trope. they gave her a bigger role which i loveee
I took my daughter to see this movie in the theaters. Didn't think I'd enjoy myself but I loved it. And I play the Peaches song in the car with my daughter! I sing it to her word for word😂! Great reaction Mello!
I’ve said the same thing about Mario several times on other reactions, but I’ll keep it short here. It’s easily the best video game adaptation we’ve gotten. As a lifelong Mario fan, I really enjoyed this a lot and it made me want to go back and play some Mario games that I still have!
I don't know, Detective Pikachu also set the bar high tbh. But then I think part of that was how well the designs/animation/etc. was done for the Pokemon. I don't think I've ever seen such a well blended style between realism but also the fantastical nature of pokemon. Disney could take notes when rendering their own CGI animals XD But yea, I think a case could be made for either the Super Mario Bros Movie or Detective Pikachu for best video game adaptation (if we go by E rated/for everyone. If we go by for in depth characterizations and mature themes, then The Last of Us no contest.)
I took my 5 year old daughter to see it, she had been begging to go from the first commercial. We play the Mario games all the time. It was her first time at the movies and it was an amazing experience. She constantly sings the peaches song 🤦🏻♀️
I like that this is one of the few times peach gets to kick ass other than super princess peach on DS, Mario 2, 3D world, Thousand Year Door, Super Paper Mario.
I liked Peach being a Badass, She has been in plenty of games where she has kicked ass and is one of the most busted characters in Ultimate. and she lives in a world where many things can kill you in a single hit so, gotta get good at surviving lol
Peach is even playable in the 2nd super Mario bros game on Super Nintendo.. and she dope ass character to play with in alla the games.. she got some cool perks.
We come for your reactions, not the movie. If someone is here for the movie then they need to pay to watch it and not complain. Don't get yourself in trouble. We would all miss u.
She's not always a damsel in distress in the games. It's mostly in the main games that she's a damsel in distress but in the mario and luigi games and early mario paper games, she has a real personality.
I saw this movie not expecting much from it because the latest things in cinema lately have been disappointing, but this one was amazing from start to finish and had a lot of funny and heartwarming moments.
I swear that MASSIVE uppercut DK hits Mario with is part of his Smash moveset. Honestly it's been over a decade since I've played a Smash title, so I can't remember.
I think so, but i may be misremembering. The drop kick definitely is part of his moveset though, it's his back air attack (pretty sure the slapping thing is based on one of his throws too)
my favorite Nintendo character is Luigi, hands down, which is why I was slightly disappointed that we didn't get more Luigi in this movie. but I was super happy with this movie and the amount of references that we got, plus, every single character was voiced perfectly imo. also, fyi, Peach was a playable character in Super Mario Bros 2 so it makes sense to me that she was such a badass in this; it's pretty much canon. loved your reaction and loved your costume! you killed it! ❤
That blue fire thing in prison has apparently always wanted to die, so it can be reborn as a new planet. So it knows that it's own death, is it's own reward as well. I just found out about it yesterday of facebook 😂. And your drip is 🔥🔥🔥
Also fun fact they did not edit toads voice at all he literally kept doing a higher voice until they got what they liked and then he practiced keeping the voice perfect which is super impressive fr for someone with a deep voice
As a Mario Fan for 14 years since 2008 for the wii,I enjoyed this movie I could watch this movie for 100 times now I’m 18 this movie is masterpiece ❤️🔥💯
This was for sure a solid theater movie. The "I need a hero" section was fine because it was fitting for the obligatory 80's training montage, other than that I was not a fan of the random licensed music. What's more annoying is that they had a musical score of Donkey Kong country made for the driving section but they shoved 'Take on me" in there instead. Just look up "Drivin me Bananas if you wanna hear it
I grew up in the 80s so this was my childhood. So much nostalgia. We saw this in the theater and I was thinking “why are there so many little kids here? My bad I forgot it’s still a cartoon and people still play these games. 😂
lol I saw it in a theater full of adults 😂 a few kids there was one family, and the kids and parents were laughing, it was cute they loved it, but yes the nostalgia
For a bit of context for Peach. They based her less on the videogames Peach and more one Super Mario Adventures' comic that they released on Nintendo Power. If you don't know about it ther is an excellent comic dub of the comic on youtube.
My personal fave Nintendo characters are Luigi and Isabelle from Animal Crossing. I like Luigi because even though he's scared a lot of the time, he will answer the call to action when his loved ones are involved (i.e.: Luigi's Mansion). I like Isabelle because she has such a cute design and personality, but still knows how to get stuff done and help others in the best way. My favorite Nintendo game is Animal Crossing: New Horizons. It's EASILY the Switch game I have played the most. It's also the very first mainline AC game I've played and it's made me think about getting a Nintendo 3DS so I can play the games for that console, specifically New Leaf.
I honestly won't care if you dress up as Donkey Kong, because Donkey Kong is also one of my favorite video game characters in my childhood, by the way great reaction to this movie, because this movie is actually pretty good and you did a great job reviewing it as well.
Awesome! When I saw this in the theater, it was in 3D MAX 4D! The seats moved a bit, lights flashed in the theater and little bits of water and air shot at us. There was some fog in the theater room too. It was an awesome experience!
I went to the theater with my whole family (minus my mom) to see this.We were hype the entire time. Smiling from start to finish. We were the only ones to stay in the theater through the entire credits and see the end scene. We all yelled and were super excited to see Yoshi's egg crack and hear him say, "YOSHII!" We all screamed,"YOSHII!" We were so excited!
Jumpman. According to Lore is Marios Dad or grandad .. && The Gorilla from that game is Cranky Kong.. Donkey Kong's Dad or grandad.. I believe Cranky was also one of the prisoners. Donkey Kong from what i remember has fire and ice and other power ups on Donkey Kong 64..
I loved the mario movie! Not just because I'm a huge Nintendo fan! The whole movie was amazing! For my favourite Nintendo games it has to be the fire Emblem series. Anyone who has not at least tried the series try it! Its so underrated! Such a great series Fire Emblem.
The nostalgia not only broke sales records but it brought the happiness tears back to me. This movie was a 20/10 in my book. Narrowly beating John Wick Chapter 4 in my top favorite films of the 2020's
I went to see this theaters with my little cousins and brother and let me tell you they were MESMERISED, the room filled with little kids amd they were so exited but so mesmerised with the movie thet they all were the most well behaved children in a movie theater ive ever met lol
I love the beginning part where you added the king of the hill scene ( i dont know dudes name ) bc i felt the same watching this and feel it each time i watch a reaction. I havent played all the games, such as mario galaxy, so i wouldent get that luna star reference. Luckily i got youtube to point them out for me.
I did like seeing you react to this and all but my dude you gotta experience some of these movies in the theaters. Don't deprive yourself a good experience just for us man. I know you need content to keep your channel fresh and all but there's hundreds of movies you haven't seen that you can use that people will love you to watch. Just saying you don't gotta miss out on stuff for the rest of us.
I appreciate when you do new movies. I don't do reviews as i enjoy bad movies. So this is a way to not fully spoil the movie and decide if i want to watch more
Funnily enough, take on me is jarring for a lot of people and it turns out there originally was an original soundtrack for that scene (which was amazing) but for some dumb reason they put a random song in
btw the original lore established by the Super Mario Bros Super Show had Mario and Luigi as Plumbers running a business together, Shigeru Miyamoto (Mario's creator) didnt contest this lore until a couple years back. this movie however was established on that lore, as that's what fans have known for years, i wonder how much that irked Miyamoto, i can only imagine.
If they go with the characters’ voices from the games, I feel like it’s not gonna fit; it would be kinda weird and annoying. People need to understand that a video game and movie are two totally different things. And just so you know, Mario and Luigi used to speak like regular people with Brooklyn accents back in the 80s, since they’re canonically from Brooklyn, New York. Do people not know about the old Mario cartoons? The iconic Brooklyn Mario was from a WWE wrestler, Captain Lou Albano, and he was Italian-American. Anyway, Chris Pratt actually did a good job doing the high-pitched Italian accent in the Plumbing commercial scene. And also, this is an origin story about Mario and Luigi being in the Mario world for the first time, and they’ve just met Princess Peach; she might get kidnapped in the future.
I, as a long time Mario fan, actually felt they _mostly_ did Peach well, particularly in her physical capabilities. The problems are that she was _way_ too serious, game Peach never takes anything seriously to the point that she invites Bowser, _her regular kidnapper,_ to join them in sports and games and festivals, she is unfailingly polite and kind to everyone she meets (even her enemies _while she is fighting them!)_ and game Peach would _never_ wield or even touch any proper weapon or do any sort of martial arts, because she is proud of her femininity and does not like doing unladylike things. She instead would have a twelve pound weight inside her parasol or a brick in a purse, and dispatch enemies with grace by weaponizing ballet kicks. Ladylike with _a punch._ Peach in this movie really doesn't much act like Peach, her attitude, brashness, and tomboyishness is more fitting of _Daisy._
The depressing star is lumilee, he's a friend of rosalina (from super mario galaxy). In smash bros her and lumilee fight together like the ice climbers.
You can tell from the opening scene that this movie was made BY Mario fans FOR Mario fans! Jack Black absolutely stole the show in this movie! There is a great clip IGN made where they took the scene of Bowser singing and replaced the song with Tenacious D’s **** Her Gently!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Whether you grew a lifelong fan of Mario or just a casual fan, this movie is SO MUCH FUN!! I can’t understand why anyone would give this movie a negative review! Is it perfect, no. Could they have shown more of Luigi, yes. But it does something I have always had a complaint about, and that’s finally make Princess Peach NOT the damsel in distress. I hope they make her like this in future games. Plus who else after watching this movie had a strong and uncontrollable urge to play Mario Kart?😂😂😂 And for people who complain that Chris Pratt barely changed his voice for Mario I have two questions. 1) Would you really want Chris Pratt or the original voice actor (Charles Martinet, who already has multiple cameos in this movie) to do the thickest and let’s face it incredibly offensive Italian accent ever, THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE MOVIE?!?!? 2) How can you complain about Chris Pratt barely changing his voice when Charlie Day (who absolutely killed it) did nothing for Luigi? Also I hope we get more of the Existential Dread Star Lumalee in the future! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Most people probably don't like it that peach is not a helpless damsel that needs rescuing but as for me I never liked that they made Princess Peach so helpless so I'm glad that they made her a strong woman that don't need a man to rescue her.
Saw this movie on shrooms with my wife, fucking excellent experience, just nothing but joy. The opening made me feel like watching Alladin again for the first time in 1990 whatever. Also best N64 game is Conkers Bad Fur Day
Saw this movie 3x in theaters and 1x at home, had to see it multiple times cause i saw it in XD first, 2nd time i saw it imax and then in 3d, and the scores were this audience scored it a 98% and critics 55% clearly the critics were hatin just to hate and the real fans loved it and that's what matters you can tell this movie was made for the fans but also have to cater to the younger kids as well. and shoot it made the Billion dollar movie club pretty quickly, i for one can't wait to see the sequels and if Nintendo decides to do other movies and build a Nintendo animated cinematic universe cause i can see them doing Super Mario Bro's 2, Super Mario bro's 3, The Legend Of Zelda, StarFox, Donkey Kong Country, Metroid, Punch Out, Kirby, Luigi's Mansion, and the list goes on, and then after a few years have past do a Marvel End game type film and that could be The Super Smash bro's movie. :) do it a big crossover film break it up to 2 parts and watch the billions stack up.
I dunno why so many people are angry about Peach being a badass in the film. Apparently they have never come across players who main as Princess Peach; they are ruthless! Hope they will focus more on Luigi in the sequels.
