Additionally the 5L has a split pin crank for even firing at 72° with a 88mm bore spacing, and the 5.2L does not have a split pin crank, so there is uneven firing at 90° and 54° with a 90mm bore spacing.
@@c331hunt i think it is though. Same platform underneath, same proportions etc. I think clarkson even said he loved it because it's a gallardo underneath
I've been looking at these on and off for a couple of years now, my biggest concern with them is that despite the rarity there are owners out there who decided that cosmetic and drive-train modifications were the right thing to do. One that drives me crazy is seeing these with the later Gallardo nose installed, it is just wrong! Great car and great vid from you Jay! Cheers!
Personally, i’d only buy one of these (if i had the money) BECAUSE i was going to do those mods hahaha. I much prefer the 5.0 engine compared to the MK2 - but I much prefer the aesthetic and improved performance of the MK2 instead. You can always reverse body panel changes and a few modest performance mods.
I've got the exact car except in LHD and black brake calipers and I love it. Factory exhaust except with the cats removed and it screams... Differences are carbon fiber package, different tune on the gearbox, carbon ceramic brakes standard, different tune on the engine ECU, thinner glass on the front windshield and doors and rear windows are polycarbonate instead of glass, rear lid is carbon fiber as well.
My 2017 Mustang had the same problem when braking hard. They set the alignment from the factory so that the care changes direction easily and is very 'darty', but it's disconcerting under hard braking, and it makes the tires wear much too fast. I had mine realigned and am much happier.
I drove one of these in 2012 at the Bull Bar shop across from the factory. I was clumsy with it and intimidated, and it was magical and terrifying and coarse and I loved every moment.
@@visionist7 basta guardare qualsiasi video in italiano in cui si parli della Scuderia... Just watch any italian video on RU-vid featuring the Scuderia!
I have a white SL, amazing car and prefer it to the scuderia I had before it, Scud F1 was better but E gear is perfect on a fast road, , it still has the WOW factor in public and they are circa half the price of a scuderia, lot more user friendly for actually driving somewhere than the scud also,
Ok so... 😁 The engine cover, the rear diffuser, the underbody cover, the exterior mirrors, the rear spoiler, the side sills, and the inner door panels are made of carbon fiber, the rear windows are from polycarbonate. Wheels weight 😁 Standard Callisto 19” Front 48.62lb Rear 60.28lb Cassiopeia wheels Rear 305 - 61 lbs Front 235 - 49.2 lbs Cordelia wheels Rear 295 - 50.2 lbs Front 235 - 43.4 lbs Thats all with tyres. On this model of superlegera are cassiopeia wheels. Suspension: Firmers dampers, stifer antiroll bars, and steering is adjuste as well (tighter) Superleggera has larger front intake and they send more air to the radiators and are said to impart extra front-end downforce. The diffuser and spoiler at the rear are bigger, and of course rear wing is fixed Radio was optional of course 😄
My poster Lamborghini was the countach as featured in the opening scenes of the cannonball run (oh yeah and the ladies😉) But growing up to 6 ft 5" thankfully my car idol and me never met (and inevitably let me down).
Gallardo you should be fine with a different seat (forget the standard gallardo seats, or their ''race'' offering as in this video). Fit a Tillett seat (even on rails) and you'll be fine. My brother and I are both quite a bit taller than you...his daily is a 1st generation Mazda MX5, stock seats for a year until last week!
I think the Gallardo is kind of a forgotten car, in a way. Especially with the Huracan and double-clutch tech, etc. But perhaps it's a bit of a diamond in the rough; looks fantastic (nicer side profile than Huracan, sounds amazing). Cool cars.
I absolutely agree about the gearbox. Manual would be "the" box.🤗 I had a yellow 2005 for few weeks and then got back my M6 which I liked much but.. thats not a Lamborghini 😂
Awesome car - sounds fantastic. Went to a local car meet a few years ago that had some very prestigiuous sports cars, and I had the opportunity to check some out - and was surprised just how many I couldn't fit in being 6ft 3. :( Oh well, I suppose saying I didn't get one 'cos I couldn't fit sounds more impressive than the fact I couldn't afford one. :)
Look meanacing in Black. Supercars are for blasting around in not daily driving. So you may as well have the striped out lightweight version. Nice review. Loving the content.
HOLY SHIT, YOU JUST REFERENCED 'PETE TONG'! Far too many Americans don't know that amazing movie. One of the best movies I've seen in the last 10 or 15 years.
JayEmm: "This was Lamborghini's crack at taking some thunder away from Ferrari and their lightweight specials..." Lamborghini buyer: "You had me at crack."
Drove one of these on a track day experience, and the one things I noticed is how you sit. Your legs are at a diagonal angle to the pedals. Very weird set up.
David King - yep, same here. Really really loved the Gallardo until I drove it. The pedals are really off center so you are forced to sit wonky...where the brake pedal should be, the gas is there instead (as I found out by gently pushing it expecting the brakes and I suddenly shot faster forward)...almost dangerous if not used to it. The murcielago isn’t like that...the pedals are straight in front of the seat. Shame it’s such a big car that isn’t built for the UK roads...I’d imagine it’s a nightmare to drive down small roads we have. Bizarrely I found the Audi R8 V10 to basically feel like a far more thought through and usable Gallardo. Shame it doesn’t look as good, but it’s far less expensive, far better visibility and still same oomph for your buck...just doesn’t have the lambo badge and looks. Funnily enough I came away preferring to “own” an R8 than a Gallardo...at the start of the day I would have point blank said I’d prefer the Gallardo every time prior to driving it. Best car I’ve ever driven was the McLaren 570s...it’s better in every possible way (so light and nimble) except for the exhaust noise. :)
A Manual Gallardo should be on my wishlist. I didn't add it to my spreadsheet because I couldn't find any manuals available when I looked. There are two on autotrader at the moment so I am just adding it now.
@@JayEmmOnCars Wait, was the picture you posted to Instagram from their showroom? They have a really nice manual Mercielago and a very very pretty Diablo at the moment. My heart, if they were affordable.
I drive a Gallardo back to back with an F430. The Lambo was a hard drive as in you had to work at it but quick and fun The F430 was a fast car no mistake but you could of been driving a micra so easy. So easy to go fast too. They like chalk and cheese
The story I heard about the position of the reverse button on e-gear was that it was to keep it away from the curious fingers of children and well meaning passengers.
The reason the Reverse button is there is that Lamborghini wanted it out of the way so you don’t accidentally press it when your driving. If it was in the centre and you want to change from auto to sport while driving you might accidentally press it then your screwed.
Friend of mine managed to write one of these off in the wet aqua plane it off of the A3 near the hind head tunnel 60ft down a bank, so he went back to his standard mk1 😉 said it was so much more twitchy than the standard model
Jay please help me here?!? I have a chance to pick up a SL in Grey with 5000km on the clock and for the same price a well specced Ferrari 599 with 27000km. What do i do? I owned an early Gallardo before with a gated shift but never had it long and sold my 550 like a chop! The same dealer also has a gated 430, again same price but the milage on the 430 is 33000km. Help!
Is the reverse button on the dash to prevent it being pressed by accident? I don’t know if the gearbox is smart enough not to try and slam into reverse if under forward motion or not.
What a noise. Wow. I wish every manufacturer would realize that when you make any sports, start with the properly, truly exciting engine sound. I believe people would overlook the low power of cars like the Miata, BRZ, etc if they made an epic noise like this Gallardo.
@@JayEmmOnCars on the subject of the e-gear box it definitely isn't good, is it not the same as the r-tronic in the early R8? I believe the performance of the box can be sorted with a transmission control unit remap. Still, I'd take a manual any day of the week
Any true car guy will want a manual transmission. If I had the money I wouldn't buy this one. The best one I've seen is the orange one Jeremy Clarkson drove to Romania. Thanks.
