I left DC area before the snow and the deep freeze arrived. Little did I know it would follow me south! #solofemalevanlife #vanlife #campervan #seniornomad #traveldestinations Business Inquiries: LifeWithMicheleSilver@gmail.com
Michelle, it was so nice meeting and camping with you and Sophie! We are definitely hearty women camping in those freezing temps! I’m proud of us! Safe travels my new friend🫶🏽
1. New subscriber here 2. Love your ink and personality 3. Sophie is the cutest little guard dog 4. Cozy looking van build 5. most important, please stay safe while traveling. The world gets more mean by the day. But also make sure to enjoy every second of your adventures. We only live once and it flies by. I’ve been dreaming about vanlife for a few years. Recently dealt with some health issues but I’m on the mend now. It’s made me realize it’s time to get moving on my vanlife dream. I’ll be out on the road starting this summer and hope to meet a bunch of y’all in my travels. Safe travels and happy trails to you, from Texas.
So thankful you are doing well. Take the time you need to heal internally and physically. Blessings for the little things in life. Sending much healing energy. 💜🤍🩷
You and your van are so lovely. I had to keep stopping the video to see how you did things. I love the way everything seems to be very intentional and just right (pour over coffee mug, dog water, sink water, heated blanket). Lovely!
@@LifeWithMicheleSilveryou can warm your water on the stove when outside is cold and you want to take a shower, I guess you filled the shower bag at the hole on the bag ,so three quarter the bag with water ,then pug some water to warm in a pot with a long handle ,it night be a little problem pouring the warm water in the bag ,so get a funnel that can fit the hole on the bag ,pour yhe water and you are good to go ,don't let people laugh at you by saying the water cannot heat up because of the weather, just try my method
It is the Sunshine State However it is the Winter season and rain and overcast is normal. The more North the colder it is, more South the warmer. Best to do the research before travel😊
Thank you for sharing your awesome adventure with us. Have a wonderful time in Florida. Everyone stay safe, warm, happy and healthy. From Henrico County Virginia
Hi, I kind of stumbled on your channel and really enjoyed it. Your dog is adorable and I love all animals. I live in Colorado and it’s been pretty cold, below zero, with some snow. My son lives in the Tampa area and he told me that it has been cold and rainy which is a little unusual. I do love the sound of rain…very soothing. I hope it warms up for you! Thanks for sharing!
Yes, it's raining! It's a tropical state, lots of vegetation everywhere. When it's summer, that rain is warm! Right now, no, cold rain. Hope it gets better for you! ❤ safe travels!
Haha! Yes I lived in St Pete for 27 years. The myths about Florida… It’s sunshine all the time, when a lot of the time you get those lovely afternoon thunderstorms, which, if you’re on the road driving, you it may be raining so hard that you have to pull off the road till it passes! Second myth… it doesn’t get cold in Florida 😆 It’s actually a damp, windy cold that cuts to the bone! You have to layer though, because you will peel off layer by layer as the day warms up! Oh and as a bonus tip, the best time to visit Disney World is in December!! The weather is great and the decorations are gorgeous 💜 Happy travels!! PS your skin is beautiful!! What do you use on it??
Oh yes that damp windy cold is rough! I spent a lot of time in the van just because of the wind! Thanks for the compliments about my skin 😊 It might just be good lighting.. but I use hyaluronic acid and vitamin C serum.
What a kind soul, what would we do without our little doggies? I got my 1st tiny dog at 7. I have had one by my side for 61 years. Coming from a hairdresser, Michele has the most beautiful white silver hair ever. I had a salon in Tampa FL. I moved out of Florida in 2012. Will never go back to live, only to visit in the winter months. I pray for you and your dog’s well-being on your quest. Life and time fly by, live each day to its fullest. Happy trails.
OMG…. You came during the storms that we had.! this is our rainy, season, and then, at the end of the summer, we get six months of hurricane seasons. You have to catch Florida on the in between.😂 right now for maybe the next month it’s going to be 46 at night and 75 during the day. I hope you got warm clothes.😊
Yes, people seen to think Florida is always warm 🥵. We have a second home down there and a few weeks ago we went down and wrapped the outside hose pipe, it was into the low 30s. Stay warm...
North Florida gets cold and has winter for a few days. It quickly warms up around ash Wednesday. We use the few cooler days for outdoor chores and indoor deep cleaning. The county fairs on happening g in February and our famous strawberry festival.
Florida is funny in winter time. It can be nice or like this. One thing is when it rains the ground soaks it up so fast, its like it never happened a few hours later.
I just ran across your channel and see you've just recently begun your journey. Cool😎👍 I'll subscribe and and see what you get into. Good luck annnd safe travels.
Yes! I was thinking about trying to drive away from the storm Sunday but it ran the entire length of Florida! So I stayed put, but the storm line split so all we got was drizzle 😊
I’m working on getting my little transit van ready and very excited to get in road. Your van is beautiful!! My question is how do i learn where the meet ups are and when they occur. I want to know so i can start my ventures with a meet up so I can learn from the group. I’m so longing for the community aspect. Thanks for any help in this area.😊
@@HolliHankins-xi9uuHi, my name is Laura and I'm also from TN. Nashville. I, too, am getting my jeep suv ready for car life. I am looking for groups as well 😊
@pinay328 oh no! Well January looked like a blast 😁 Maybe next year I'll plan better and can do both Jan and Feb. March is busy for me and I have to be back to work in VA.
@@LifeWithMicheleSilver There is so much more to see, and being an artist myself, I know that you would enjoy the rugged beauty and killer sunsets here in NM and AZ. You can find the "colours of the southwest" in the landscape the very colours that inspired Georgia O'Keeffe backin the day. The area is filled with a buffet of"eye candy"!!!
I have the same shower bag.The shower head is not a good quality thing. Get a better one, this one will breaks easily. Warm up one gallon of water and one gallon of cold/cool water. Mix the waters and add to bag.I do it that way when I go down to the Florida keys.
Old mechanic, solar is very weak power,in small setups like RVs. For true, constant high Amperage power, you need a gasoline generator, even a small one. The most popular size is small inverter of around 2,200 Starting Watts ( Inverter, if worried about noise) That provides about 1,800 Running Watts,or approx 15 steady amps. It takes 10 Amps of steady power,to run standard microwave or portable electric heater ,or typical RV water heater, on high setting. Solar,is a almost total failure, for even a few minutes running above appliance's.
When traveling with animals, make sure they’re trained on potty pad for emergency weather while living in a van etc. I’m sure you’ve already thought of that necessity
Yes, I've struggled to pee pad train Sophie. She doesn't like to go inside because she knows that means she wont be playing outside. I have had luck on days that it's rained allllll day long and she finally gives in and goes on a pad 😂
You are an inspiration. I'd like to do what you are doing. But I am not ready yet. I'm not as young as you. Do you own your van? Do you have a job of any sort? Many questions. Stay safe and hugs to your little dog.
Hi Trish! Thank you for your kind words. The meetups I've started going to are women in their 50s, 60s, and 70s. The van is mine, but I am making payments. I have just over 2 years left. I do work at a small wellness retreat, but I hope this time next year I can support myself through my art and my channel. You're probably more capable of doing this than you think. You should go for it ❣️
Hi, you have very easy-going videos. I was wondering what make and model of van you have. Also, do you pick what interior styles you get. Etc. You should get Sophie a mini down sleeping bag. They hold heat well
Hi Larry, I have a 2015 Ford Transit 130wb medium roof passenger van. They normally come with 10 seats in the back, but this one was a mobile office with a giant steel desk and chair. Also, I refuse to use down. We had layered blankets and a heating pad.

I use to have a Planet Fitness membership and showered there, but canceled it last year. Sophie has separation anxiety so I only leave her in the van a few minutes at a time.
Hi Alba, I know we already spoke, but I'm going to answer here incase anyone else has the same question. I'm recording on a 3 year old Samsung Galaxy s20, and using iMovie on an iPad to edit.
When the shower does not warm enough in the shower bad I. 1) Cry and complain to my wife. 2) She heats water on the woodstove or gas stove and ....CAREFULLY ....adds this h20 to the cooler water.
Michele, why didn't you pull right up to the grass for your dog, Sophie, to go potty. If it was good enough for the other dogs, you showed us, your dog would have been attracted to the scent. Just, thinking out aloud. I have a 2 year old teacup Chi, weighing under 5 lbs. He could care less about the weather!
Sophie won't go out in the rain at all. I have pee pads but she will only use them if she's desperate. I've heard from a few other people that their dogs will use a potty pad at home, but not on the road
@@LifeWithMicheleSilver ok !! Well until then? I love your videos and your a great mom to your doggie.. be safe out there.. your friend ric in nor cal.
It was insanely heavy! It was suppose to be like that yesterday, too. I planned to film a day in my van during a rainstorm. But it misted and the sun came out! 😤😆
Girl, you are too bougie for Vanlife😂. You were too bougie for the women and you were too bougie to take a cold shower. It is not that cold. You haven’t seen cold but you’re hilarious. I’m shocked you evenduring van life. I enjoy watching you because you remind me of a friend of mine who passed away she was bougie just like you and I love your hair. I love your calmness, but you don’t do outdoors. I’m shocked.
Why is that poor dog in a pram, i haven't seen the poor little love walking around once. He looks totally depressed. Dogs need exercise, they're not dolls or babies. 😢
Thanks for your comment, Louise. This area we were visiting was covered in burs, and I was constantly pulling them out of her feet. Filming her on walks was NOT my priority. Like the title says, it was very cold and stormy, so she wanted to be snuggled up most of the time. If you look thru the other videos, we are constantly on walks. I assure you Sophie is well cared for. My background is in animal care and animal rights.

Seriously? What in the world are you doing to be surprised that the cold followed you or to not know what weather was predicted for FLA and so be surprised at cloudiness, temps and the heavy rain... and what are you doing whining at your dog bcuz it doesn't want to go outside. This van life stuff is not play and simple; prepare and be responsible! If not for yourself then for the little dog-let who is depending on you.
I absolutely LOVE you vanlifers and all of your videos.. but we must normalize 2 separate sinks in our build outs... 1 for preparing food and 1 for brushing our teeth 🤷🏿♀️ it makes my skin crawl seeing a toothbrush used in the same sink you prepare food in, wash dishes, and your face etc. 🤢🤮
@@Simrata_ you are absolutely right.. however I still think it's completely gross ... Remind me not to EVER eat your house ... Never really know if you took all the dishes out of the sink before you peed in it 😂😆👍🏿
@@Simrata_ pffffft .. " imagination" no ma'am...it took YOUR spit, YOUR sink, YOUR camper, YOUR dishes, and YOUR pee 🤷🏿♀️ 😆 so glad you can see the reality of it all now 🤢
If you don't mind me asking do you have a job or do you live off taxpayers? Not trying to be rude I'm just trying to figure out how so many Young people can just pick up and go because I know when I was younger I didn't have the money to do anything like this who knows maybe you have a savings or something like that but do you live off the taxpayers?
Maybe some day I'll make a video and tell my story. But no, I do not live off taxpayers. I manage a small wellness retreat and also sell my art. I try to keep my bills low and drive a 9 year old van that I threw some furniture in. Money is tight but thankfully I have a supportive partner. Also, thanks for calling me young. I'm 55.
You’re so rude! What do you mean living off taxpayer’s? Last time I checked people who works and retired paid their taxes so there for can collect them after retirement. I suggest do your homework before making comment like that.
@@pinay328 Yes, not only that but stuff like food stamps. I paid in for nearly 30 years before collecting them. I was working full time when I got them. I've never felt the need to apologize for that.
