Yep. I went to Georgia. Just to see tanks. Because why not?
For those who don't know, The US Armor And Cavalry Collection is a special collection who's function is to educate soldiers going through the US Army's tank school. Part of training down at Fort Moore will be to visit the collection and learn about the history of American tanks, among many others. As such, its a bit of an exclusive spot.
However, my agents on the inside whispered to me of an upcoming opportunity for infiltration. An open house event. For one weekend only, the collection would be open to the public, a grave mistake.
I now live under the floors of the collection, where every day I can be with the tanks, and love them the way only a tank enthusiast like me knows how. I will protect them, I will care for them. They are now mine.
If you like what you see, check out my other videos, and my other channels.

Shoutout to that one kid who's mom dragged me in cuz she heard me rambling about the Sherman and wanted me to educate them for an essay the kid had to write. ------------ Edit to correct a few mistakes I make in the video and address some things: #1. The tank at the very start is not a T-55, but a T-62. And therefore has the 115mm smoothbore gun, not the 100mm rifled. Count the road wheels, still something I need to get used to #2. The M60 wasn’t an A3, it was an A1 #3. In reference to the Jagdtiger, “Ausf B” is the designation that it’s a Tiger II, not any specific variant of the Jagdtiger #4. Someone on my discord said that a curator at this collection claimed the T4 didn’t actually have Christie suspension, when I inquired further they couldn’t specify what suspension it used instead. So I’m hard pressed to believe it, but anything is possible. #5. The Churchill is a Mk VII, not a Mk VIII. The Mk VIII is the one with the stubby howitzer gun (not the AVRE) #6. I did not include the Panther II in the video because quite frankly I didn’t have anything interesting to say on it, and I had to cut a lot for time. This video could easily have been an hour long just on me in the museum. #7. The same explanation above goes for any “I saw _____ in the background why didn’t you talk about it!?” Check out my Canada Vlog to see me rant about more tanks like I do in this video. #8. The tank at the end is not actually the MPF. The MPF that was adopted by the US military is the General Dynamics design, the one I saw was the BAE Systems competitor prototype that didn’t make the contract. So my notes on the vehicle in the video are also wrong. I will always call myself a “Tank Enthusiast” because I am prone to mistakes. I’m not an expert, I just really really really really love tanks.

"If you're watching this video it means you've clicked on it." Ten seconds in and I have already been blessed with such grand wisdom. I can't wait to see what the remaining thirty-four minutes and nine seconds is about to show me. Edit: The StuG IV is a gorgeous piece of engineering I will not tolerate any other opinion, and no I am not defending it because I recently bought the Cobi StuG IV Limited Edition and are trying to justify my unhealthy expenses.

Y'know the Jagdtiger that you saw was Jagdtiger 331, the very first one to be captured by the US intact during WWII. It was captured in the town of Neustadt after a short battle with advancing US 3rd army. The tank has an estimated 8-10 Sherman kills credited to its name which was all done on March 22, 1945.

4:12 is actually a T-62, you can tell by the different wheel spacing (these are more evenly spaced out whereas a T-55 has a larger gap between the first wheel and the rest) the different turret shape (admittedly the difference is subtle) and the place of the bore evacuator on the barrel, on a T-55 it is on the tip, and more on the middle in the T-62, additionally you can look into the barrel and see that it is smooth bore, as well as see the shell ejection hatch on th e back of the turret.

Oh oh the the tank at 5:16 is the T54E1. The us were testing the viability of an oscillating turret similar to the French tanks of the period on a Patton chassis. You can see the back of turret has a massive bulge out the back. That’s the autoloader mechanism, again very similar to French Cold War designs.

5:02 That's a M60A1. It has a coincidence range finder, just like M47, M48, and early T-72. You can tell it's not a A3 since there is no wind sensor (a tube) at the back of the turret. Additionally, on the A3, the opening in the left blister is closed.

I saw you talking with other fans but I couldn't remember your username and didn't want to make an ass out of myself. I had been anticipating visiting this collection ever since the Patton museum and Aberdeen closed down, just being able to walk up and touch stuff was incredible to do. The live fire exercise was well worth the wait as well, definitely the highlight of the trip. I don't think I'll ever be able to describe the feeling of a 120mm gun going off right in front of you.

That place was amazing to see and walk around in; the only reason I knew about it was because I heard that's where that last T-28 super heavy lives. If you find yourself near the east coast again, I would highly recommend going to the AAF tank museum in Virginia. You can make an appointment to climb inside some of their tanks, like the Panzer IV. I've loved tanks for a long time now, so seeing so many tanks in Georgia was just amazing.

One thing that was funny was when one of the staff at the museum was giving us the introduction (there was a platoon of us there) he said "I dont care if you play world of tanks or warthunder, leave that at the door". There is also a place in Sand Hill where the museum keeps some of their un restored tanks, there is a Jag tiger there along with some panthers.
