Hi, I am from Czech republic, I know this vehicle very good and we have a lot of literature about czechoslovakian, russian and german vehicles in common libraries.

The T-72 is much more recent than most of the vehicles we see and the guys in these video's are often asking for any information people can provide. I just think that is the mark of people who really want to not only provide entertaining content and good information, but willing to be honest and say that they don't know all they could. Learning the worlds history is why I follow this channel. The world has been shaped many times by acts of conflict and war, so while we should always seek to settle differences by way of talking, we need to understand that when it fails, these machines are what we then use to "talk". But how can you make your own opinion, when you don!t know facts? You are at risk to make wrong opinion. What worst, as you (not you personaly) don't experience moment of recognising your own fault (we call it "aha efect"), if you stay at your statement even it's wrong, you are doomed, closed to understand and learn from your mistakes. @@archieherrington9955 how are they a bad tank? great protection esp the b model when released, great firepower able to deal with all modern threats and a great platform to work with. the only only downside is the reverse speed and for some countries (russia) the lack of upgraded optics.

So did the TC have no access to NVs outside of night sights on the .50?

@@MatteV2 our platoon had one set of NVGs and the Platoon commander's tank had them. We avoided night engagements but one night of the war we set up to ambush a column of moving Iraqi armor till about 2am. They never showed up so we were stood down to 50% alert till sunrise.

@C B The Leopard 2, Leclerc and Challenger 2 have that feature. The Leopard 2 has demonstrated that feature amply in Syria. The Challenger 2 and Leclerc have yet to face an actual enemy to demonstrate it. Their time will come, soon.

@@locarno1542 kind of hard to answer that, depends on a whole lot of things. Technically just about any T-72 model could defeat a Leo, as long as it hits the right spot from the right range at the right angle. I wouldn't say there is any model (that has currently been seen in service) that would beat a Leo 100% of the time. One flaw with the Leo is it has some ammo stowage in the crew compartment so if that gets hit or a fire is started in the tank you're done for.

"t-72 armor cutaway turret" give you an image of a cutaway T72 turret look at the tone with blue and yellow paint. Many of the hits but not the good turret image is from "Below The Turret Ring" where you can see side view of the glacis armor. The image is a stack of 4 glacis plates so a bit confusing before you realize that.

Its the price man. Weapons have become insanely expensive. The new Abrams X and T-14 will likely never be used until we get Abrams X3 and T-30.

The composition actually varies depending on the model, for reference, the T-72b uses NERA/reflexive plates sandwiches between cast steel.

Wait until you see western tanks. There's Chobham armor which is one of the best composite armors in the world and depleted uranium armor too, both far far better than anything Russia has.

The M variant does have composite armor in the hull front but lacks any composite in the turret. The M1 variant has 16mm of high-hardness steel plate added onto the hull front, and includes composite armor in the turret front.

@@R.Sole88109 probably just got misconstrued like Chinese whispers. Maybe someone heard from someone who heard from someone else about some guy who lost his arm to an autoloader when it really just slightly injured him or even only ripped his sleeve off. Or it was just a joke told in training that caught on and some people thought it was serious. Or maybe it was just a myth started to either make the crews be more careful or to make it seem like "even the autoloaders are mighty on Soviet tanks".

Maybe you want to hug the ammo with an autoloader and thats why the turrets blowup.

T-64's autoloader used a system where a raised stud would trip a microswitch to tell the autoloader what kind of ammunition was in a particular tray, so you'd have to set the stud in the correct position for the loaded round as you replenished the carousel. I'm not familiar enough with the T-72's system to say if it was doing something similar, but I wouldn't be surprised - it wasn't much newer of a design and if the Soviets could make something work through oldschool electromechanical means, they would.

M2 or M3?

Not even close to the best and Ru has lost an insane amount of them, so much so that they are dragging out T-54s to replace them!

@@johnhughes8016 i hear you - my experience is very limited after a few restoration jobs, one being a Scorpion, very tight on space, lifting the turret was interesting, but funny to see everyone run and take cover as it cleared the hull and swung over to its stand - like a UXB in itself i can only imagine how horrible it might be for an armoured vehicle turning turtle, and crew bracing themselves, putting arms out to steady themselves and the turret rotating and severely injuring them

@@patchmack4469 been there, seen it, got the T-shirt.... Rolled a Scimitar into a water filled ditch on Salisbury Plain in early 2000’s.... Night time, heavy rain, no lights tactical move. Edge of the track broke away and over we went.... Ended up rolling over the roof, came to rest on its side, I got away with a few broken ribs, driver and gunner just banged up a bit.... an interesting evening had by all..... Vehicle headed off to the workshop for a few weeks Turret was off its race, various internal bits came loose, final drive ripped off, tracks shed, damaging the idler, gun barrel did not look straight and obviously all the sight linkage was a little ‘out’. External stowage was a little ‘second hand’ as well...... Got me off the exercise early though, so not all bad 😀

Still the Ukraine, Polish and Czech tuned the T72 and they are much better then the russian counter parts.

@@f1aziz it was bombed after the tank got disabled by the turkish Air force. It was old A4 versions send without support and got disabled. The crews survived all, they destroyed the Tanks after that they cant steal the secrets.

If a round successfully pierces the armour just how dead would you like to be ? Understand that when a round breeches the armour it doesn't go bang. It rattles around inside chopping everything "fleshy" up like a blender. ie: you're already non human regardless if any ammo blows up as well. Go read some old WW2 books. Turrets regularly blew off hit tanks.

An M829A2 round (or newer) can penetrate this tank at any angle from 3000 meters. The Abrams will eat these for breakfast when the Ukrainians get them

Bruh the ergonomics are ass, western tanks are limousones in comparison. Are you sure you're 6'5? I'm 6'3 and I fit just right in the turret, but it's nightmarishly narrow. Just squeezing through that hatch is difficult, you have to sort of wiggle in like an eel.

@@nikolakaravida9670 that means that you are fat. Being fat and being tall are too different things. I'm 230lb. Fit in nice an cozy. M60 has more space but I would never call it a limo, more like a huge truck. Of course, you need all that space to manually move them shells around. T-72 is like a high tech sports car in comparison. You slip in and press the buttons. That's the beauty of the autoloader.

..also very easy to learn to operate.

@@SuperIv7 I'm around 200lbs. I'm still not sure if we're talking about the same vehicle. I've also been inside a T-55 and even that thing is more spacious. Calling the 72 a high tech sports car... I dunno. The M60 is old and nowadays the T-72 faces Abrams and Leo which are spaceships in comparison.
