Hope you all enjoy this video! My team and I have been working on it for literally months. By the way, since there's some confusion, the date at the very end of the video isn't announcing a tournament but instead what next weekends video is - I think you're gonna like it :)
Can’t believe I sat through 2 hours just to learn that Wolfey won because opp missed all their sings while he gambled bleakwind like a degen at the end and still win smh my head. Truly world champ dif.
I want to reply here in the hopes you can see my comment. You get a lot of comments so I doubt you would see it otherwise. I want to say I REALLY appreciate the breakdown of how you ev your mons in the beginning of the video. Idk if many others like that part of the video, but for me its the highlight. EVing mons is, imo, the hardest skill to develop in pokemon. Coming up with correct ev spreads is crucial and, as you alluded to in your amoongus and flutter sections, it can be the difference between winning and losing. Truthfully thank you for taking the time to explain this stuff. I greatly appreciate it. Keep up the great work and have a nice day!
Bro really went from the largest unedited RU-vidr in Pokemon to some of the highest effort editing in the business without loosing the charm of the channel
@@velbutvel To me, what he brought has always been that enthusiasm that makes him so unique. Those MS Paint intros were still higher quality then most anything else in the community, now its just crazy good.
there was a brief point where it was rough but he adapted to this new style and brought out the best of both worlds. He really has the world champ difference
Europe is somewhat infamous for using weird and unconventional strategies that the rest of the VGC community (vgcc?) isn't paying much attention to. It's kind of crazy how we're still considered a very strong region despite a lot of European players using dogwater mons and trying to find some use for them. Wolfey says something about this in the beastcoast Pokémon podcast episode that came out after this tournament back in April, I recommend checking that out for a more detailed post tournament report from him.
European players are crazy. One guy in the UK made the probably biggest gamble in all of Pokemon by using a bright powder sand veil garchomp and played some of the funniest games I've ever seen😂 If you type in "probably the luckiest game in vgc UK 2012" you'll find a masterpiece of tilt. They banned sand veil shortly after this incident😂
Huge respect to the round 12 opponent for resetting to the original game state without saying anything even though it wasn't a good position for them. Especially because they were down a game.
i love how wolf is always like “This is a disaster! Corviknight game 1!!” meanwhile his opponent is probably having a heart attack seeing they are up against wolf lmao
“I was is a terrible mental state. I wanted to give up. But into the last game I had to pee really really bad which gave me motivation to win the game”
It's incredible how, in the same video, you teach newcomers basic things like ev spreads and more experienced players more complex tactics like ambiguous speed stat strategies. You always joke about not knowing how to be a "youtubist" but you're easily putting out the most comprehensive vgc content out there man.
I cant tell you how impressive this is, longform content with this level of quality just isnt out there. I grew up playing pokemon, never touched competitive once. but your vids are so unbelievably well made and engaging i could watch forever. your passion clearly comes through, combined with great storytelling and a good attitude make for really fun videos that dont have a ton of comparisons. it feels a little like summoning salt for just pokemon but that doesnt do it justice, as the amount of quality gone into every segment of this is just incredible. yall have really hit on something special imo and can't wait for whats to come.
I feel like there isn’t enough appreciation for just the sheer beauty of the depth of team building and every decision made. I’m literally smiling like a goofball thinking how clever and thought out everything is; it really is a skill and with endless creativity and synergy is just beautiful. The way you explain everything too is so easy to understand and keeps me interested the whole time (:
I really appreciate that you made the team building explanations so long. They're always the most interesting parts of these videos. The battles are tense, but the team building really intrigues me.
Half the reason I watch these videos is because I'm fully invested in the love/hate relationship between Wolfey and Incineroar. Love the vids Wolfey and team!
I still remember when Incineroar's design was leaked in the lead up to Sun&Moon release and how everyone hated Litten turning into this Fire/Fighting-looking guy. However, unlike my poor boi Emboar (to be redeemed in Z-A?), Incin really grabbed his bullies by the throat and said "Care to repeat that?"
@@QMS9224 Well depends on what part you're talking about in boruto they are pretty close friends and near the beginning in the battle against haku they didn't hate each other
@@thebestman5382we don’t speak of that garbage ever. It doesn’t exsist. The lore ended when He became hokage and married Hinata. NOTHING HAPPENED AFTER THAT!!!
I like how Wolfey explains how Amoongus fell off at the start of the video and then still incorporates Amoongus countermeasures into most of his mons. Just shows how scary Amoongus is.
It’s like how M-Kanghaskhan didn’t win in one of its most dominant years because the meta was revolving so hard around making sure they couldn’t run roughshod over it
I love the play-by-play where the video pauses and we see the lines and drawings. It makes some of the more complicated moments easier to understand, especially when it involves a lot of pokemon and move names.
While I understand these large events have a tight schedule, if they cant allow competitors time to pee in between sets just because they went to game 3, then the schedule needs to be reworked. Like thats a major logistical issue if you can't ask a TO for 5 min to go pee without fear of a DQ
The schedule at EUIC this year was gruesome. If my memory serves me right we got 30 minutes to eat on day 1. The good thing is though, they reworked the way regional and international events work going into the new season so hopefully the big events after Worlds 2024 should have a slightly more lenient time schedule.
@@olafmikoaj3121 He's basically saying that when Wolfey actually tries, he sweeps. In the fight between Lee and Gaara, Lee was getting manhandled till he took off his wrist and ankle weights, then he was smoking Gaara like a pack.
@@Lysanthor But still Wolfey didn't drop anything that holded him back. He just used good pokemon. The better comparison would be total opposite. His opponent is using unusual strategies that suprise and overpower Wolvey (Gaara) at first. But later Wolvey ultimetely clears the floor with opponent showing that unusual tricks can't hold to power of good pokemon just like Lee getting overpowered in the end. Wolfey IS the Gaara of that fight
Love that experienced players are bringing unorthodox Pokémon to battles. Keeps the battles fresh and interesting and, as you said, makes players use active problem-solving skills instead of remembering everything there is to know about the same 10 Pokémon over and over again!! A fun watch!
The Flutter Mane 2x speed of incineroar tech is one of the biggest brain teambuilding moves I've ever seen, amazing use of stats to gain hidden information
So glad I got to bump into you day 1 when you were getting set up to go on stage, i was so nervous i could barely speak, but you were so chill and friendly. Thank you for that 😊
My favorite part of the videos is always the team building explanations, I love hearing how a player at the highest level thinks about their team comp, don't apologize for going into your process in depth it was great!
Every time I think about how easy it would be to not have to have a day job and do this nerd stuff. I watch a Wolfe video and immediately remember how much work it takes to make a good video. Forget actually being good enough to be considered a competitive Pokémon player lol. Great work as always, haven’t finished it, I really root for you as I watch, trying to avoid spoilers
Wolfe My man My dude These videos are incredible I love your breakdowns I love you talking shop about team building You and your team are absolutely goated A million blessings upon your families I will keep supporting you however I can
I actually like the idea of wriggle room as a move that converts every type to bug, that would have some crazy offensive and defensive plays. You are a genius wolfey
Man you'd think I'd stop being surprised and impressed with just how GOOD these videos are, but every one seems way better than the last. Thank you so much Wolfey and team
My guy, the way you deliver Pokémon info dumps is just so eloquent. I can watch hours of your videos and not even realize I watched a two hour vid lol. Energy is up there but not obnoxious or arrogant. Love your content homie good luck 😎
"I limited myself to only using the strongest pokemon. First up: Amoongus, a pokemon who has fallen off hard and isn't considered the strongest anymore."
wolfe's vids have reintroduced me to vgc for the first time since 2019, when ironically his 2016 worlds victory was what inspired me to start in the first place. these videos are so high effort it's insane, not only are the stories and analysis entertaining but I'm also learning more about the modern day competitive scene. Great vid big man
I LOVED the incredibly deep dives into the nitty gritty of pokemon selection for these big tournaments. The editing is so snappy, the jokes are clever, and the info is presented in such a way I genuinely didn't realize how long I spent watching because I was 100% invested. Spectacular job, y'all!
i absolutely adore the way you format these videos, it’s super cool how you explain everything about the pokemon you pick for your team one by one and the events that unfold in parts too
I loved watching the teambuilding process part of this one more than any other video, it's way more in-depth in explaining how you approached training every Pokémon and even as an experienced VGC player, I learned a ton and will definitely apply it in my future teambuilding endeavors. Thank you, Wolfey!
Guys we gotta appreciate the quality editing in these videos, I do not want to think the effort the editors go through to put this veritable movie together... if you see this editors y'all are amazing and the videos have been great with all the effort put into them
Multi-hour Wolfey content is what I live for Shoutout to you and the team, the production value of a video of such lenght is crazy good and these are always such a delight. Your storytelling abilities are just unmatched
I love the in depth breakdown to every aspect of the Amoonguss set. Literally my favorite thing ab these videos are the team breakdowns. Amazing job Wolfe and Team you guys COOKED here
Commenting at 19 minutes into the video. I was so curious on how you got that Amoongus model so crisp like that. I love the amount of work put into this video already. Huge shoutout to everyone working in the background providing the art and animation and of course the editing of the entire video so far which is insane!
i know this is probably not feasible to include in every video but man i really love the section where you explained your reasoning for the ev spread of your pokemon, it really just goes to show how passionate you are about the game and honestly it's contagious, or at the very least its very inspiring, im tempted to sub to the patreon just to see more of this indepth stuff
so thats why jaiden made those faces in her latest pokemon animation were she was talking about seeing you battle on the big screen and looking like you were in a blender with a haxorus
I just wanna say how cool it is that Wolfey does this. I never imagined I’d be sitting through an entire 2 hour fully edited video but here I am. It’s just cool to see someone who is actually able to use their passion to its fullest.
Such a great video, I can see why it took your team several months to produce. You've always been so ahead of the curve with tournament team selection. I loved the team breakdown, even a veteran like myself can lean about your team creation process. Amazing work, looking forward to your Orlando video!
...i love math. i also love every single ace attorney reference in your videos. especially the music (i LOVE tgaa and hearing the ost while you're explaining competitive pokemon is a dose of serotonin), though the psyche-locks on amoonguss's moves were also a nice touch.
Wolfey, I just want to say that these kinds of videos are so nice to watch and the effort that is put in is incredible! (Competitive and Editing wise) All the best from Germany!
It was an amazing video and had to watch all of it in parts! I appreciate when the teams are broken down and what roles that they play on the team! Love learning from a former World Champion and hope you keep creating more! 😄
Man I love these tournament videos! thanks for the effort and time you put into making these. Tough luck, especially with the resistence system and i'll be rooting for you during Orlando Regional!
Omg, I never knew you all recreated an entire lighting engine and modeled the 3D Poke'mon used in the videos. That's an insane amount of work, respect to your team!
YESSSSSS I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VIDEO SINCE EUIC HAPPENED!!! I absolutely love your tournament content and craved it so much I joined the patreon, but this video specifically has been my most looked forward to for months. I followed the matches on stream, and it made me so excited to see the finished video that detailed all of your matches. I can't wait to one day see the video on NAIC and Worlds this year, and I'll be rooting for you while you're at Worlds in a few weeks!!
Babe wake up, Wolfey talks 18 Minutes about the depths of his Amoongus. I really love this theory parts of your videos. I don't really like to play competitive Pokemon but I really love the whole theory behind it.
Wolfey, you are my biggest inspiration. Everyday I wake up, I check for a new video from you. You make my day so much better and you're really nailing content creating as a whole. Thank you for everything ! ❤
Honestly really appreciate this video as someone just recently getting interested in playing pokemon & learning about how to battle & teambuild strategically. The breakdowns and explanations of everything are super helpful
Like him or dislike him, Wolfe has been one of, if not the, biggest pinnacle in the VGC community because he’s great at breaking down VGC so it makes sense. I don’t play VGC but really enjoy watching it because I’ve watched Wolfe, which has led me to other content creators.
