Great review! Thanks. I went to get fitted for P790s and ended up with these. My distance and dispersion were just so much better. Trackman doesn’t lie. I checked my ego at the door and went home with the club that my TM fitter recommended. My clubs were 1/2 inch long with Nippon Modus shafts. Golf is hard enough and I am looking for ways to make it more enjoyable. The mini driver and these clubs have done just that.
This is what I did when I went with the cobra t-rail irons last year. They are just so much easier to hit, my miss hits travel further and I find it easier to get the ball up in the air (which is something I struggle with). It would have been easy to just keep banging my head against the wall with my old irons, but these legitimately help my game quite a bit!
I just did this today! I came in and said I was interested in p790s because I’ve heard of their forgiveness. The guy told me they weren’t for me and I listened. Ended up with these aswell hit them very well. 1/2inch short vs your 1/2 long tho on shaft
Just waiting for my QI HL irons to be delivered. Went for HL as my swing speed is low, (bad back). Gained 25 yards at the fitting..!! Felt good and look OK, even with the thicker top line.
I bought a 5-PW Qi irons 2 weeks ago. I love them, and the offset I had to retrain my grip and ball position. Once I got that in, they feel great, look good, and for a 12 handicap they are… easier…
Ok, just got fitted with the QI irons, replacing 7 year old Pings. I am at least one club better off in distance, and at the age of 68 that counts a lot. Lovely feel, and they give you so much confidence, which tends to translate into a more consitent swing and therefore better results. I tried various other clubs including the P790's at the fitting, and whilst the P790's felt great, these were longer with similar dispersion.
I played a lot of golf in high school and I’m in my 30s now. I started getting back into golf last year using 16 year old clubs built for a different version of me. I picked up a set of Qi irons running AW, PW, 9i-5i and I absolutely love them. They make my bad shots better and my good shots more frequent. These irons are both long and forgiving and I’ve been loving them so far.
Id been out of golf for 5 years and during that time i had two hips replaced. I bought last years Stealth irons because i wanted foregivness and distance which now being 70 was starting to show. Love the Stealth and tbh the Qi dont look too much different

I recently bought a set of the old TM speed blades to replace my tour preferred with stupid stiff shafts got them real cheap in a reg shaft ( I’m old now lol ) and they are long and feel great love them 😁
I got fitted for these irons and absolutely love them! I did upgrade the shaft (Aerotech SteelFiber i80-s) and have added at least a full club on my shots. I’ve noticed that even if I hit the ball out towards the toe or heel, I only lose about 4-5 yards. I’m very happy with my decision to purchase these irons.
When considering new clubs (was playing Amazon clubs I got for my birthday lol), I looked at getting something like this since I’m a higher handicap golfer. To me it made more sense to look in to a little better all around iron in the second hand market to grow in to as a player. I managed to pick up some copper cobra forged tec irons for less than $300 and I’m super pleased so far.
What I think would aid in marketing these over the P790s would be if they were drastically cheaper than the P790s. They’d sell like hot cakes if they were in the same price range as most DTC brands of like 350-600$. I personally wouldn’t pay the price most of the big brands charge which is why DTC has been blowing up like GigaGolf, golfworks, and Tacomo for example
Im a bit torn myself, between the Qi and the P790’s. I’ve played very forgiving irons for going on 3 years and my iron play has improved and looking to go for a fitting later this year.
I got them I'm a mid handicap. 4-A ,1/2 over standard length tbs tour x flex 130. I might be the exception to the rule but I'm not having any issues holding greens with them. I played them since they were released 3 times a week.All the way a-7 iron their dropping and stopping. I'm not a slow swinger. And oh yeah the 4 iron is my go to driving iron off the tee 240yard, 220 off the fairway. Love them!
I'm looking at the Qi HL irons. Been away from the game for 30 years and back then I was not very good. The go to response to "which clubs do I need" is to go get fitted. So I did, and the results were as expected. I haven't hit a ball in 30 years, I step into the simulator and hit a couple dozen balls. 2 of them landed in the fairway and the rest were thin, shanks and slices. The fitter said that I needed to be able to hit a consistent shot before I get fitted. I get that, but to hit a shot I need clubs and right now I have none. The cost isn't that big a deal. I just want some good quality, forgiving clubs and these Qi HL clubs seem to come up in most conversations with pros. I have an instructor lined up and ready to go as soon as I have clubs. So I've pretty much landed on these clubs along with the Qi10 max driver, 3W, 4H and 5H. The only thig I can't find a clear answer on is the shaft. TM online options for the shaft are KBS max lite steel and Fujikura speeder NX TCS 50, both in R flex. The TM rep recommended the steel shafts because they are more controllable, but graphite seems to be more forgiving on the joints. I'm 62 with a few back injuries/surgeries so I'm not ripping like a tour pro. Will the Speeder NX 50 feel like a pool noodle compared to steel? The steel is only 25g heavier so weight shouldn't be a huge factor. Both are R flex, if that's even apples to apples between steel and graphite. I likely won't even know the difference until I get better. Just don't want to look back a year from now after I have more experience wishing I went the other direction. What do you all think?
Taylormade have absolutely smashed it with these Qi10’s irons. Went a few weeks ago to get fitted for new irons , left my ego in the car and walked in with a open mind and yip you guessed it walked out with these irons with Accra IS7 graphite shafts. Can’t disagree with anything that you’ve said in this review 👌🏻⛳️
Just recieved my 5-A wedge Qi’s yesterday and am playing g them today for the first time ..iwas going to get fitted ,but last minute just ordered a set online as ive always played st9ck irons …only thimg that has me nervous is theyre slightly shorter than my 20 YR old RAC’S . Hope im not suddenly topping everything today , being anywhere from a 15 to 20+ handicap over the yrs.
I just treated myself to a new set of irons. I got my TM Q1 irons with UST Recoil Dart graphite shafts. Very inviting at address. Looking forward to donating a few golf balls to my local courses 😉
I love my P790’s the best iron TM have ever had in my opinion. I have mates on single figures who game the more higher hcp category of irons if there is any such thing! They play so good with them you’d never believe they would use them. The older you get the harder it is to hit it far. Great review by the way.
I just got my set of Qi irons and noticed the hosel/neck of the 5-8 irons is different and jagged/edged. The 9 and wedges have a smooth hosel/neck. Take the 8 and 9 iron out and swing them in the air. You'll hear a very audible difference between the 2. It's almost like there's a lot more drag in the air with the 5-8 irons, than the 9 and wedges. Anyone else notice this? I noticed it immediately like something was wrong or loose...
I rented a set of QI irons the other day for 9 holes, granted the grips were too thin for me. But they're surprisingly good, I was expecting them to be crazy bombing distance irons. But no
I got fitted for a set of these back in March and absolutely love them. I am a casual golfer with a slow swing speed, but even the five iron performs well for me. I did try p790s and liked them, but they were beyond my budget (I might pick up a used set one day if I find a deal). Also, I'm not going to lie, I benefit from the stronger lofts.
I got fitted for these yesterday, I hit the 7 iron higher than my current 9 iron.. 1 degree more upright but very,very impressed.. 19 yards average gain( 24 on best shot ) I’ve struggled of late with my vokey wedges with high bounce, so I dropped the 6 iron and went 7,8,9,pw,aw,sw
Good decision, sand wedge and a wedge are so much easier to hit than my old vokey wedges ( with a bigger sole ) 2 great up and downs from bunkers with a tight pin
4:13 I actually went to get fitted for these the other day (25 handicap) but the strangest thing happened. I couldn’t hit them. Ended up going home with P790 which were quite similar to my 10yr old game improvement irons. Moral to the story is try before you buy!
I was I the market for a new set of irons couple of weeks back, tested a few clubs out from different sets including these, the cobra dark speeds and a cheaper option from callaway that was around £650, so £200 cheaper than these, but I ended up buying the Qi’s, was hitting way better with these on the test range at American Golf store, can’t wait for them to arrive, having to wait 4 to 6 weeks on delivery since they been custom fitted , just been watching reviews for them while I wait
I did buy the Qi irons (4 - PW) and had them fitted to me. They're still on order but if I hit them on the course half as good as hit them in the simulator I will be ecstatic! Compared to my old R7's they feel very soft. They made me feel like I'm beginning to understand what people mean when the say "that hit felt buttery."
I bought these 4-PW through a fitting and enjoy hitting them so far. Takes some adjustment but I'm also changing some mechanics of my game too. I def hit the ball longer with QI. Not as many miss rights too.
Never bought new clubs before so got fitted for Qi irons as a 21 handicapper, added at least 10 yards carry for every club. Very forgiving as long as I swing the clubs consistently. 😂
I had a fitting 2 weeks ago and they really pushed me towards these. I thought they sounded absolutely terrible. I have never hit the ping but I cannot imagine another iron being louder. I hit them decent enough I just didnt think they looked or sounded great. Ended up going with the JPX 923 over the QI
I bought these in 5-PW with Mitsubishi MMT 65 shafts. After about 10 rounds I went back to my Srixon ZX5 MKII irons with KBS Tour Lite shafts. The Srixon irons feel better and give me better spin and sound better.
James I bought the QIHL and still waiting after 10 weeks..I can’t believe Taylor made said they are back ordered ..imagine a new line of irons and they are so far back ordered..just absolutely disgusting..in my opinion
I had a set of the sim2 irons. Was just getting back in to golf after a 6 year layoff. At first I thought the big distance was neat. Once I got back to where I was playing decent the distances this things went got annoying really. Dam PW was going 150 and my 50 degree was going 115-120
At this point I only game Ping eye 2s. I need to and will be saving up the money to get my copper beryllium set of eye 2s re-gripped and then they will be going in the bag
I reckon I'm going to lay money on the fact that you didn't come back with p790?! Most overrated, underachieving irons in my opinion. I'm 16 handicap, so hardly the best but these irons aren't all what they're made up to be.
I don't buy the yearly irons from Callaway or TaylorMade. I like to feel like I get a bit of value before another new set comes out. Irons for me are not a yearly purchase.
I bought a set in March. They hit great. I was in love with them and my game! I've been playing great golf however.... the quality of this set is crap to say the least. After 2 months maybe 10 rds and 3 lessons... they look like hell!!! The finish is coming off, and the black on the back of the head is chipping off like a bad paint job. The other day on par 3 I hit a 6 iron straight over the flagstick.... and the 6 iron cracked at the hossil! Got to looking at the rest of them.... they are all but 8-9 iron cracking in the same place. I'm assuming because I don't need those clubs often. Taylormade was quick to send another set.... but naaaa I'm good. I was refitted to the Titleist T200s.... go with quality guys. Taylormade is lacking that!
Mine were too Matt & I got fitted for these. Lighter shaft and numbers told the story. Still working on my game, but drop off in off centre hits a lot less than my old clubs (x20 tour).
They're not new. They're re-skinned Stealths. I had the original Stealths. Great beginner clubs. I hit these. Exactly the same. Save your money and buy a used set of Stealths.
This is typical Taylor Made marketing nonsense. They launch so many clubs that they cannot be either well R&D or they rebadge existing models and relaunch them as "longer, straighter blah blah blah". If all their products did what they say then we would all be tour pros
James could you review the new Lazarus fairway woods and driver? They are selling the woods for like 70 US dollars for 3, 5 or 7 woods or all 3 of them 200$. I’d love to see your take on those
Have had them in the bag for a month or so now and love them. I'm a 22 handicap and a slicer but these clubs help avoid that. Would recommend investing in iron covers as the carbon in the back is prone to chipping.
