I have actually gotten that 2nd trap before but with the move order: e4, e5, nf3, d6, d4, exd4, c3, dxc3, bc5, h6 and bxf7

For the second trap you could've just played 2.Nf3 instead and hope for a philidor, and in case that happens then play bc4

lmao when you were trying to get them to play d6 just play nf3 instead of the bishop first. CUZ UR BISHOP ISNT EVEN ATTACKING THE PAWN SO WHY WOULD THEY DEFEND IT??

You can reach the second trap position with the philidor too- it is a lot more common there.

I used a pretty nice opening trap against the fried liver when I was below 1000. When working, it ends in a nice smothered mate in 10 moves. It goes like this: 1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nf6 4.
