Says to start the freeze dryer up and let run for 30 mins to get cold, and leave the paper wrapper on them😊 (if the wrapper is plastic they suggest to slice a cut in th he packaging) Your a good Daddy Dutch, your girls hearts are going to be filled with so many awesome memories..💜
Reminds me of the time my great-aunt Bee told the story of when her parents were gone for the week and her boyfreind who became my great-uncle Aubry came by. They made rootbeer and bottled it a little too soon and it exploded all over the kitchen. They had stored it under the kitchen table. She said that it was the worse mess ever. But great-uncle Aubry stayed and helped to clean the whole kitchen up. Great-aunt Bee said that there was even rootbeer on the ceiling.
You have not failed. You are a big winner. My dad taught me that if you learned from your mistakes, you havent failed at all. You are a winner. Congratulations.
You can buy several extra toilet bowl brushes at the dollar store and hang them up near the waterers. It's easy to scrub and brush out all the dirt, poop, algae, and debris from inside and out.
That's what we use in the horse stock tanks. Easier on the back ! We use kitchen handled veggie brushes for cat/ dog bowls and another for the bird bath.
The ice cream melted before the freeze dryer got cold. There's a setting on it to tell it if the food is pre-frozen. It will then cool down before you put the frozen food in the FD.
Ours drink a lot too. We also give the watermelons and cucumbers in the summer. We tried to plant our own melons and cucumbers but the Texas rain day after day for days, lol, ruined our garden this year.
Ooops on the freeze-dried ice cream sandwiches lol...Love the nails girls! Thanks for sharing! May God bless n keep you n your family safe and healthy! :)
So glad Brandie and you got to have done time for yourselves. You both work so hard getting ready to move!! God bless you both and all your family. Enjoying the videos!!
You all are very deserving of a date nite Its good to get out an have some fun just the two of you. I know you all do a lot of family things an that's wonderful. Happy to see you all enjoying the evening. 👍
Ima survivor donkey and animal sanctuary has a male turkey. They have had him a year. He was rescued around his wife's birthday. He does change colors all the time. They tried to get him 3 females one left another turned out to be a male. Him and the other female live over at his dad's house now. They rescued a female meat turkey at Christmas but sadly she passed away a couple weeks ago.
Thank you for showing the freeze dryer fail. We recently bought one and have been doing veggies and fruits. Havent done candy yet. Now i know to leave the wrappers on ice cream sandwiches
Thank you for the freezedried lesson. Good experiment to do with the girls. Th and you for the two concerts. First one being you and the turkey the second one Granger Smith. So glad you got to get out on a date you deserved it after all the work you both have been doing. And most of all thank you for acknowledging what God has done for you and your family. God's blessings.
It must be nice having Granger as a friend to be able to go see him in concert like that well not quite a concert but that was pretty awesome thanks for taking us along with you really enjoyed it
You confuse the sensors when you don't put something on all of the trays. Plus as others have said start the machine and get it below freezing before putting food in. Also I have done ice cream sandwiches a lot...I cut them in bite size pieces. I have never tried to freeze dry them in the package.
Very glad you got some spouse time! You may read up a bit on your freeze drying always learning for sure!love the beauty of friendship! God's Blessings 🙏💞🙏
What a great date night, seeing Grainger Smith in concert. Would love to see him live but no chance of that unless he comes to Ireland. 😉😄Miss all that country music, since we moved back to Ireland. Love your videos , Dutch. You have an awesome family. 💕
I’m thinking the pigs are still getting shocked by the fence. It bows out towards them and doesn’t leave much room for them to get near the nipple. Use a pole to help pull it back away from the nipple and they may start drinking more from it.
There is a setting for food that is already frozen. It goes straight into drying, since it doesn't have to freeze first. Don't mix room temp food and pre-frozen in the same batch.
We had neighbors who made root beer every year. One evening my mom heard pop, pop, pop, etc, so she guessed what happened and went next door to help with clean up
I just found your channel and I love it. I love how your girls get out there and work. You are a great family and I look forward to watching your journey.
Wow, blow up time, lol. At leadt you didnt hide it from us. 👍. Granger, could be a good singer. But was hard to hear him. Ouch, shattered ribs. Happy that you two had a date night.❤🇨🇦😊👍
Hi,Dutch and girls. Glad to see you, on the homestead #1,I was hoping 🙏ya'll would put Cold Water 💧all over your head 😉. Freeze dry anything is good in the Summer. You are so patient with the girls. Hi,Brady. Ya'll take Date Night 🌙from a grateful great grandma 👵❤in Toledo Ohio 👵🙏
Heh from 🐨🦘 Great that you & Brandi got some adult time away, awesome entertainment too. That Tiny is going to get it from Abe one day. Take care & cheers 🥰👍🏼
Ice cream by definition has air in it... the industry calls it overrun. when you freeze dry stuff the air inside expands and that means it blows out your ice cream sammiches. Higher end ice creams have less overrun in them, so they would expand less. the one in the wrapper probably still worked cause the wrapper held the filling in place while the air was allowed to escape.
Don’t think I would like freeze-dried ice cream. Would taste like chalk. The joy of ice cream is the flavor, the creamy texture, and the cold of it cools you off. Have a good time ... be safe! How very nice to watch the show at Granger Smiths! Nice concert!
I can't remember if it was Living Traditions Homestead or Good Simple Living...one did a freeze dried icecream sandwich and it was not in a wrapper...came out right...Always love Abe...thanks to you and Abe/Mary...we now have a Bourbon Red Tom, two Heritage Bronze Hens...we collected 10 eggs and put in incubator...we got 4 turkeys hatched Tuesday. the Hens and Tom are all 3 sitting on 6+ more eggs...We had previously purchased 5 Narragansett 7 day old poults...they are now 8 weeks old...know we have at least 1 Tom...he struts and gobbles...and today we bought a 4 mos. old Bourbon Red Hen...so we are now in the turkey business! We will also be incubating chicken eggs and selling chicks...goats, rabbits, turkeys, chickens, cows...all are providing food for us and selling some helps with feed bills...be self sufficient...raise and grow food!
i cut the ice cream sandwich in half leaving the paper on. then, return the trays to the freezer for at least 12 hrs again before putting into the freeze dryer. you had some melting happen before the pump turned on and that caused the super expansion.
I think you should try putting some double stuffed Oreos in some large marshmallows and freeze drying them. Don't know it it would be good but sounds good. You should also try freeze drying some packaged popcycles. I'm just curious if that would work.
Did you read the instructions? My book tells you to pre-freeze the freeze dryer before adding food. Also it says not to mix pre-frozen with non-frozen food. It also tells you to cut the Ice cream sandwiches into bite sized pieces.
So with all this crazy weather I think it would be a good idea if you built a Storm Shelter out on your new homestead, it's terrifying being in an RV when a severe thunderstorm hits coming from someone who has been in one.
You DON'T have to leave it in the packaging. I unwrapped mine, but cut them in half. I laid them on parchment paper, however. But it sounds like you didn't use the 'pre-frozen' step. You're not supposed to mix non-frozen (marshmallows) with frozen, either. ALL have to be frozen and then you use the pre-frozen setting, which means you choose that setting, close the unit, let it drop its temperature down to below freezing, and then put your frozen item loaded trays in. That keeps your frozen items frozen, which is what happened to your ice cream sandwiches... the unit was still above freezing, and the ice cream sandwiches literally melted before the unit was able to get to the freeze point.
There are no failures just learning experiences. That is what Chad at Adler farms says anyway and I kinda like that saying. Would not want to be the one cleaning the freeze dryer though. Have a blessed weekend and don't work too hard.
