I failed my SEC+ the first time I took the exam but I didn't let it get to me. If you watched this video thank you and hopefully it helped you if you also failed it on the first attempt.

Failing any IT exam is never a failure. You’re a far better IT professional because you gain valuable knowledge just from all the studying. No one can ever take that away from you. We must always remind ourselves that failing is only when you give up. Anything else is just a learning experience and helping build your foundation for the future.

What a great video, ppl always share the highs but not so much the lows. It's always a learning curve and the trick is to never give up! Congrats on passing both certs. I'm taking 701 at the end of the month!

@@user-zs1ud1tu5s Keep that momentum going with the studying. We were close! I take mine next month, but definitely grind it out until you take it again to still have that information fresh. They should give you the objectives on what you missed. Good luck next time!

Hey Guys, three weeks ago I dropped the Sec + writing only a 723. A couple of days ago I retried and guess what? I wrote a 762! Just goes to show you...All you need to do is hang in there and don't give up. The old guys used to say, "I may give out...but I will never give up!" I just went back in with heavy practice on those PBQs. You need to be comfortable with those. Go through the objectives and identify and eliminate all weaknesses. You can do it!

I'm doing this whole process backwards... I've been doing IT support for like 15 years, and I never worried about certs because I support small businesses and work for myself. I'm looking to get into pentesting and decided to start with the basics and work my way up. I did the google and ibm cybersecurity certs, and then the isc2 cc, and now I'm looking into doing the sec+ which is why your video came up I assume. I took some practice tests for the sec+ and I'm averaging around 60-80%.. I get stumped on the stuff I don't use, like obscure attack methods and cryptology terms. And to be honest, I'm very rusty on python and sql. I'm watching the professor messer videos this week and then I'll schedule the exam. So even if you start from a place of experience, it's still helpful to study!

Dropped my first try as well 723. I immediately got back on the horse. I’m putting in a lot of PBQ practice. Doing more labs and making sure that I understand all the acronyms! Not just being familiar. I’ll let you know how I do on the first! Don’t give up.

@@Career_Change_with_Freda Hi. Yeah, thanks. It’s great to have support from people in the same boat! I am watching Vincent Humble RU-vid practice exam videos and I have Professor Messer practice exams. I think if I would’ve practiced the pbq‘s more , I may have passes. What study materials are you using?

Any advice? Because I am studying right now and I really honestly don’t plan on doing the stimulation type questions in beginning just wanna get the multiple choice
@Career_Change_with_Freda
@Career_Change_with_Freda 8 месяцев назад
@@aj__love5919 The best advice is to leave the pbq questions to the end, just focus on doing the rest of the MCQ first and go back to them later. I can’t give you any advice if you’re taking the 701 exam because I did the 601. But for me; the best way of learning how to pass this exam was by actually taking the exam. Then if you get the feel of these CompTIA exams it just gets easier as you go. Obviously do as many practice questions as you can and watch Udemy videos

I am horrible with exams. I know the material but I am always undone by nervousness. Even when I was younger, my own tendency toward perfectionism would it is an inspiration to hear from someone who did not pass on their first attempt dance from someone who did. That just shows you 50 exams are hard for a reason. The people who made up the exam want it to be short and it was taking it was serious new what would be expected of them in a job. I watched your video all the way through and I don't think I missed the fact that you did take the test again and pass congratulations! That goes to prove that we all are not perfect on the first sometimes it's just best to get the experience first so that the next time you go in, you are ready and better prepared

I am preparing for this exam,i am CCNA,CCNA Security,LPI and LPIC certified, and i must say this certification requires a lot of memorisation. I am curious, how much we can remember after 6 months or one year, from this study guide ? On a daily job we will not be asked what are the reliability factors, but how to setup a firewall against current and future threats and attacks. 90% of this exam is just theory,and Comptia should change it to a more hands on.
@hugeslacker
@hugeslacker 6 месяцев назад
I agree.. these exams are all terminology, and theory. The best outcome possible is someone memorizes some terms, but there's zero proof they have the ability to apply the theory to reality. I think I got more out of the google and ibm cybersecurity certs than studying for this. At least those had structured labs that taught you very basic, but real world hands on scenarios.

If you fail when you get it for FREE is fine. The problem is if you are unemployed, pay for the thing and then fail. That would be really frustrating! That's why I'm not sure when I'm going to take it as I've been unemployed for quite some time and cannot imagine losing this amount of money.
@Career_Change_with_Freda

Exactly! The first time I took the exam i didn’t feel so much stress because it was free 😅 I was just taking it for the experience and the tricky questions all threw me off and I ended up changing my answers to the incorrect ones 😂 But I highly recommend SEC+ as an entry level certification

Congratulations, you failed a test that a ton of other people have failed too, including me. I took the 301 test and failed, but later passed. I've been a software engineer since 1984 and the Sec+ exam is for system administrators, but the US Government mandated all us software engineers to get this certification. After I failed, I bought the "CompTIA Security+ Get Certified Get Ahead" book by Darril Gibson and memorized all the acronyms, terminologies, and lists, then passed the test with the minimum of 750. How the heck can I get exactly 750? That's like taking a multiple choice test and getting 100% wrong. And why are there questions on the test that are specially put there, that you aren't supposed to know? That test and knowledge is totally useless to me and I never needed that information as a software engineer. Still don't. But I continue to maintain my certification to meet the Government requirement.
