(trying to) Fastpacking the Speyside Way. One of SCOTLAND’S GREAT TRAILS
The Speyside Way is one of Scotland's Great Trails; 137km long, starting in Buckie and ending in Newtonmore. Known for its scenic beauty, the trail takes you through the Speyside region, famous for whisky distilleries, riverside paths, woodlands, and historic landmarks.
Public Transportation from Aviemore to Buckie - the start of the trail
I used split tickets to find the best train fare from Aviemore to Elgin, then took the public bus (Stagecoach) from Elgin to Buckie. The journey took about 4 hours. I arrived in Buckie at 11:30am, this was the earliest possible arrival based on public transport from Aviemore.

Good effort - and it brought back a few memories - I ran the original Speyside Way Race twice back in the mid-90s - it was run as a 50K from Ballindalloch to Spey Bay - organised by Don Ritchie - in the daylight and downhill - far easier!

Thanks for watching. I'm glad it brought back memories. There is now a 50k and 100k Speyside Way race, maybe I need to think about the 100k race so I can complete a bit more of the route!

Shame! I'm sure you'll succeed next time. Perhaps it would be wise to divide the 137 kilometers over 3 days? Good luck! By the way, I'm curious to know if you're going to attempt the Pennine way again next year.

I like to push my limits, but probably need to know my limits. Starting earlier in the day would have helped! Finishing the Pennine Way is not currently on my list. Now I live in Scotland, I'll be doing more closer to home here. Some Munros probably in the summer and maybe another Great Trail, but better planned with more manageable days.
