James is feeling very good in his groovy ski sweater, it has sparkles! It takes Batgirl a couple of minutes but she soon realizes who she's talking to. Dig James' fancy foot work...Mick Jagger did! James Brown skiing...? Hmmm.
He had his own original dance moves, moving his feet like that back and forth like a shuffle and his voice didn’t sound like anyone else! He was a great performer! The Godfather of Soul and Funk! RIP James Brown
Back in the Fifties and Sixties, NOBODY called James Brown the “Godfather” AT ALL !! That was a 70s-80s thing. In the Fifties and Sixties, we called him “MISTER DYNAMITE !!”
I was 11 when I first saw this in the movie theater with my big brother. In 1965 you didn't see a lot of black people on screen. We were both blown away by his performance and became instant James Brown fans!
I saw James Brown in concert when I was a senior in high school...(Jersey City Roosevelt Stadium) Two years before his death I was his opening act. Have an autographed album...24 James Brown's Greatest Hits...looking forward to the movie about his life starring Chadwick Bosman (42) as James Brown.
@@HizashiXevileye except it's not. people like find any stupid reason to attack white people just for being white. this comment is as dumb and unnecessary as me commenting something stereotypical and prejudice against black people in a video featuring them.

Sure. But white men have invented electricity, cars, technology, medicines, and I don't see black people complaining when they get any of those. So don't be pathetic.
@@HardcoreNerdTheories Hey, wait, there's a lot more black mobs can profit from the white, haven't you thought about that? If whites get "fucked", as you put it, who's gonna send that ton of money and volunteer workers to African hell holes? Blacks? Lol
This was a good cross over opportunity for James and the Flames. Much of the music was segregated back then. Believe it or not this was progress that people take for granted today.
It was his first big hit on the White charts reaching #3 in December 1965. He had white hits before but not Top 5 ones. He had, had dozens of hits on the Soul charts and had big selling albums, this song really sold him to a white audience. JB luckily did not care so much, he was helping his people, which was great. His music of the late 60s and 70s was much more conscious.
@@Moneytane1976 as a matter of fact it was this & his 1963 Live at the Apollo album which reached #2 on the pop charts that helped sell him into the white audiences
James Brown was my second concert I went to in my life. I was 11 years old. It was when this was released. We were standing on our seats the whole time! The energy from this man was unbelievable. What a presence! Grew up in Michigan & on Motown (and the British invasion). The 60's /70's were the Golden era of R& B (in my opinion) Wore out the records! Thank you James Brown for an incredible time!!!
The 70's are and always will be the best decade in music history! So much different styles of music were produced and the production level was so high back then, that even today they struggle to reproduce that high quality of sound!!
James Brown and His Famous Flames are hot, soulful and funky as usual. Yet, no matter how many times I remember and watched this scene over the years, the audience response still rings amazingly corny and creepy. That horror movie organ sound doesn't help either. Thank God most Black, Brown, Beige and White people I know are far more hipper and funkier than these actors. Thank you James for taking America to the next level. We're a lot less corny and creepy now. At least musically!
yeah, all the great soul singers were trapped in scenes like this. marvin gaye had to sing in front of a bunch of white go go dancers. what a travesty. but hey, james made the best of it.
@@xeno7830 why do so many white people get uncomfortable when people call out the prejudice blacks have faced in the past. It’s people like u that thrives under segregation joy those working class white trump supporters but whites like u that turn a blind eye to racism and when it gets focused act outraged at the fact that ppl are even talking about it. Sir on behalf of the black community, Fuck You.
If you think James knew nothing of racism back your ass has been living in a cave! Learn his history, not watch movies or read a book and think ur a subject matter expert, buddy
In THE 1950's and 60's , when James Brown was lead singer of The Famous Flames, (the 3 gentlemen shown with him here), he was NOT known as "The Godfather of Soul". he was known as "MISTER DYNAMITE", and "THE HARDEST-WORKING MAN IN SHOW BUSINESS". That "Godfather Of Soul" nickname didn't come until he was an old man.
williamg2552 True. I used to see his shows at the Apollo in the mid-Sixties, and he was always introduced as “the hardest-working man in show business”. He did five acts a day at a phenomenal intensity. His acts would end with him pretending to fall to his knees in exhaustion. Two assistants would come on stage and cover him in a silk cape and help him limp off stage, but after a few steps he’d throw the cloth off and resume his dancing. They’d do this routine three times, the last with a gold-colored cape. Supporting acts weren’t bad either: Sam and Dave, Wilson Pickett ...
He allegedly ripped his pants in that last split. Hence him grabbing his ass. LOL. Some of yall need to get your grandparents for not clapping on time. Cmon.. James Brown's lip synch game proved everything matched up LMAO
Wow!!!!!!!!! Amazing!!!!!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 thanks for this video!!!!!

James Brown, nobody like him, EVER! I saw him in concert in that very year, couldn't afford it but wasn't going to pass up the chance, and it was mindblowing, as all his shows were. I don't know what silly show this was, but it was really nice of him to appear, must have been incredibly weird and boring.
Though my folks were already grown when this came out, I still thank you God that I was not alive in these times. The agony of racism and ostracism was REAL.
After watching the movie knowing what he was thinking and feeling when he performed this is still etched in my mind.......he hated being there!!....truth
JB always had that speaking voice. Ha. This is the first version of his iconic song. The second version is the one that EVERYONE knows: I Got You (I Feel Good). JB bein in this movie was a BIG deal cuz it brought him to a bigger, wider mainstream audience.
weird is original record chord progression is diffrent than todays verison. In the original, there is Gminor7 after the D7 chord, G7 comes after D7 as it is known today. interesting.
