Will NEVER forget seeing this for the first time. My friend who was with me had to pick my jaw up off the floor. It was such a huge statement for an electronic band to wheel out a drum kit half way through a show, but also the way that Alan plays is hypnotic. For someone who had never really played drums a whole lot, he did it so well

I love the air drumming you do at the start of this one. You've got so much friggin' energy, man. And you look amazing here. This highlights what a skilled musician Alan is with incredible rhythm. What is particularly impressive is the fact that he's playing to a click track. This is a completely unforgiving mode of playing drums because the moment you stray from the click, even a small amount, it becomes a noticeable trainwreck. I know this firsthand. The drummer in my industrial rock band wasn't particularly skilled at playing to a click and it often showed during our live performances. Btw, Dave was no doubt saying to the fan, "I love you too!"

Out of all bands i think the drummers get overlooked the most along with the sound technicians and backup groups 90% of people could probably name the Guitarist of major groups, But i reckon only 20% could name the drummers. It's very sad in a way because of how talented some of these drummers are ya know!?
@balovett
@balovett 4 месяца назад
@@SephPlays it's true. Drummers get little respect. They are thought of as the dumb ones in a band. Not part of the songwriting process. And sound technicians are virtually never even considered.

One of the very best ever performances of any song they ever did, the visuals and lighting were perfect. Absolutely blown away! If ever I want to show anyone "my band", I show them this performance lol. The intro was actually the outro of the album version of Get Right With Me from Songs of Faith and Devotion. When i read that the intro was the outro of Get Right With Me, i honestly did not believe you, because i knew for a fact that the same piece of music is what the I Feel You "Life's Too Short Mix" is completely built upon. So i checked it out, and you're completely right! So what has happened here is that the outro of the album version of "Get Right With Me" is a stripped down version of the groove in "I Feel You".

This is them at their stadium performing greatest. This is how you use the visuals and music and performance to get 40,000 fans in the palm of your hands. For me this is their single greatest live performance of any song of theirs. Some performances after of individual songs got close but this single song’s performance is amazing. For me blows U2’s Zooropa your out of the water. Their current tour is amazing by the way. Saw them at Twickenham, 80,000 of us were in raptures.

Seph did you know that Alan Wilder did his own thing besides and after Depeche Mode? He started a solo project named "Recoil" back in 1986. The first Album has two tracks named "1" ans "2" and both tracks are Alan messing around with Depeche Mode Samples for 33 minutes in total lol. In 1988 a second record named "Hydrology" got eleased, also instrumentals and In 1992 the first more serious Recoil recording named "Bloodline" got released. Bloodline was the first record with actual songs where Alan worked together with a few artists/singers. Its great. Maybe give it a shot.

Imagine seeing Alan on drums live in person for the first time. Mind blowing! And frankly I like his drumming to their current tour drummer, Christian. To many frills and fills, not right for Mode's music. Also notice hard Alan plays. He said he was constantly breaking sticks.

Alan was in this band he left after the tour he felt to my knowledge he did not get his props. Also when Andy left due to depression during the tour then the taught the other staff,, Andy's part of the synth and bass he wanted more money from the tour, David and Martin were on drugs mostly David I think. There bio explain it better that is why ultra he's not there and andy ( the manager ) felt like they did not need him and did not want to work with him it was him or Alan.
