All 379 people aboard a Japan Airlines (JAL) plane escaped the burning airliner after a collision with a Coast Guard aircraft at Tokyo's Haneda airport that killed five of six crew on the smaller aircraft. 'Honestly, I felt my life was over. But when I was able to get out of the plane, I felt relieved,' said Aruto Iwama who was on the burning plane after coming back from visiting his family in Hokkaido, Japan.

A little tip.....The reason why flight attendants yell at you to take off your shoes before heading down that slide is because high heels, rough tread on shoes can puncture the slides and then you free fall 3 storeys basically, also other passengers behind you have to jump 3 storeys to the ground and break their legs.......So when cabin crew say to do something JUST DO IT because they don't have the time to explain why.

JAL aircraft A350 had collided with a Japan Coast Guard small jet, which was not allowed to enter the runway, and caught fire. It was found that the air traffic controller had not given the Japan Coast Guard small jet permission to enter the runway and had instructed it to wait in front of the runway. This coast guard jet was planned to deliver supplies to areas affected by the earthquake that occurred the previous day. We pray for the repose of the souls of the deceased Coast Guard officers.

How scary
@electro_sykes
@electro_sykes 7 месяцев назад
@@spacenerd9499 not as scary as this would have been, but still very scary. The seaplane took off halfway along the runway and then the engine cut out, so tried to land again, but once we landed, we were at the end of the runway, so we just overshot the rocks and into the water. The back of the seaplane was complete ripped off from the rocks, exposing hydraulics and cables. The plane was written of as they already had frequent issues with the aircraft and it was pretty badly damaged at the back and the engine was buggered with water, the tail was damaged. I had nightmares for about a week after it. A few days later we left the resort airport from the same runway to head home on a commercial flight and I was clinging on, tensed in my seat, hoping we wouldn't overshoot the runway again. Luckilly we didn't that time. Even though I was scared, the pilot told us to take in deep breaths whilst the damage was quickly assest. The aircraft luckily didn't sink because it was a seaplane, so the pilot decided it would be best if we sat in the plane whilst we waited for the rescue boats to come. We took some deep breaths and had a drink of water whilst we waited. When I hoped out and saw the damage, I was shocked. We did get refunded though. It may sound nuts, but the best thing to do in these life or death survival situations is be quick, but stay calm. Those who Panic, die. Those who stay calm, survive.

I have always had an issue with the rather obedient culture in Japan, where people tend to avoid confronting or criticizing the authority. However, this culture seems to have played a significant role in saving the passengers' lives. Unlike passengers from many other countries, they did not block the aisle to retrieve their carry-on luggage. They must have followed the crew's instructions perfectly.
@FlightMate
@FlightMate 7 месяцев назад
Yes, it worked in their favour this time. Though I think sometimes the obedience culture can have bad effects in accidents too. An example that comes to mind is the Sewol ferry disaster, where passengers obeyed orders to stay put when it was clear the ship was sinking. Or several aviation accidents where the FO failed to challenge the captain's decision even though they were wrong.
@Nicole-kc1vx
@Nicole-kc1vx 7 месяцев назад
@@FlightMate but that was failure of the staff, as passengers your best chance of survival is following the orders of the trained staff, if everyone was panicking and trying to escape it could cause more death via crowd crush and blocking of exits. The obedience culture is much more superior to western lack of compassion/all man for himself culture. Just look at how Japan is able to quickly recover from disasters, all because they listen to each other. US states have yet to recover from Hurricane Katrina...

Most of us are truly amazed and grateful that the plane held up, the 3 doors opened and slides unfurled, the attendants calmly directed passengers, passengers followed instructions without panicking too much- and everyone survived. The plane was probably insured anyway, so it will be replaced sooner or later. Everyone was scared of course, but they stayed calm. Children are expected to be more scared and shout more than adults. From now on, I think I'll keep my wallet and passport on me while onboard any plane.

Hats off to the Japanese sense of orderliness and obedience, even as my heart goes out to those who perished. On a more practical note: please follow up with an article on what to do if one were caught in a similar situation - in particular what to do before going down the safety slide: Shoes off? Hands around the head to protect injuries? Thanks in advance.

Bless you. From the look of the photographs, it doesn't look like anyone lived. Your guardian angels must have been with you. ✌😎👍 ❤

This only happens in Japan. If this was in India half the people would have died because they would have tried to get all their bags first 😑
