Nice preamp. However the Wilsons’ are just monstrously ugly with a cobbled together look . Just saying for 300k that is the best they could do aesthetically?

I had this preamp and it’s amp in my house for an at home demo. Really nice, lots of low end grunt, and super easy listening. I liked the look too. My takeaway was it was great, but you can get a lot more for the money going with other brands. And if you want to go Swiss… I’d go nagra as they put so much money into R&D. You can tell when listening it is next level. I think Jay’s gut feelings are spot on.
Haha Jay. what 'foreplay' means is 'warmup'. How I know if you may ask? Michael Fremmer has a similar dart zeel unit with power amps and with his usual cheeky humors, he commented the display.
I actually learnt about this brand through my research of Wilson as a brand, there are some famous set ups using dartzeel gear together with it. Super cool you got this preamp, excited to hear what you think of it in the system!
Just saw your short clip with your Dart Zeel. I don't know if you were to close to the speaker while you were filming, or you don't have it tuned in with your system yet. But the vocals sounded muffled, not clear. Compared to the Boulder 3110 that is.
This should be very interesting. If it weren't for you Jay, my exposure to some fairly exotic gear is narrow, so it's neat to see and hear this gear. Keep up the good work Jay.
Looks amazing Jay. Way beyond my pay grade but happy for those who have the money and desire for something truly unique. If Michael Fremmer has it in his system it must be great. Like you he can have what he wants and has heard many different superfi units. I bought a PS audio Stellar phono stage on his recommendation and I feel you are equally as trustworthy. Battery power brings that low noise floor that would be very noticeable on a system of the calibre of yours. Wish I could see and hear this brand at an Australian hifi show. Would love you to check out Ballobo and CS precision gear too.
Fantastic! You just blew my mind can't wait to hear it but you need the amplifiers or it doesn't work the magic with your xvx. I hope I'm wrong about that. Will wait to hear it. The architectural lay out of the circuits have to jive with the design of the amps from the same boutique design coming from dartZeel
OMG! Jay and Michael Fremer have the DarTZeel NHB-18NS. Did you learn of the sound quality from Michael? NHB 468 Amp in your future? In Munich check out the unique CUBE speakers from Poland. Always enjoy your unique channel even though every high end piece is beyond reach $$$$$$$!😢😢

Jay, being at Munich Show, kindly go end enjoy two world class German manufacturers: Acapella Speakers and Symphonic Line electronics. They match together as ying and yang. Report back to us then. Don’t complain about the outside looking of Symphonic Line, it is definitely not the level of JeffRowland, PassLabs and the like, BUT its sound, attacks and power beats them by very simple transistor push pull double mono circuits. I can almost guarantee you this. Just listen e.g. to the RG7 Reference Edition having 140W/8ohm. Let’s know. Thanks, Greetings from 🇩🇪
I've had the pleasure of hearing this preamp in combination with the NHB-108 dual mono amp at Sonic Artistry, as well as both of their integrated amps. Absolutely incredible pieces of equipment! I'd be curious to hear your opinion about how it pairs with your Boulder
Dude honestly. It’s all good. But try some benchmark AHB2’s bridged together in dual mono and tell me what you hear. I’m 54 and a musician. We all hear differently of course so alot of this is subjective.
I wish you a great stay at HighEnd Munich - If you want to avoid listening to Magico or Wilson Audio maybe you will also miss great electronics like Solution, CH Precision or dCS because they often use this kind of speaker in their demo 😅

@@jaysaudiolab No. It's a recent recommendation (not sure why) and I'm curious to see how off the deep end on audio unicorn nonsense you go. So far I have found exactly two home hi-fi channels that don't believe in magic unicorns. I'm hoping to find a 3rd. It isn't looking good.

Jonathan was simply a giant of our industry and a passionate advocate devoted to advancing the art of high-end sound reproduction in the home. Jay, while improved in the latest version of the 18NS pre-amp, the balanced operation is not the proper way to analyze or review the performance of the 18NS pre-amp, which, like their amplifiers, is intentionally a single-ended design. Instead, the best way is to pair it with either of the two darTZeel amplifiers using their proprietary 50ohm Zeel interconnects with either darTZeel or Evolution Zeel cables. On a last note, the price of the 18NS is 63k, not 73k, however, it may have increased in the previous year. I'll check into it and confirm back
I love the look of the Dartzeel stuff. But Jay,,, one thing I hate the look of is all your distorted equipment in your recent videos! Do you ever actually look at your vids before you post em? Whatever recording device you're using, be it a camera or a phone, move it further, MUCH further, away from you and use a zoom. Have you seen the look of these Wilsons?! It's like I'm trippin! Or they're made of rubber! The wide angle lens of whatever you're using, is waaaay tooo wide. Rant over:-)
40mm thick anodised metal, That's pure garbsge cheap . I'd take, this should come with 40mm thick sapphire glass or copper titanium , 916L stainless steel . That's what you call premium , lesrn from Rolex . How it's done.
May be nice gear but the aesthetic is definitely skewed not to my liking. Red and gold are not colours I associate with audio gear. Mike Fremer uses the amps as does Jacob Heilbrunn. The Accuphase front faceplates are another matter entirely. The colour scheme of the Dartzeel is no accident. Targeted marketing.
@@jaysaudiolab -first heard the Dartzeel amps maybe 15-20yrs ago at the Alexis Park Hotel, The Show, CES Las Vegas! No other the SS amp (maybe Karan Acoustics) came close!
