The Nomadic Kingfish Slayer strikes again! so many impressive fish brother. Im learning alot about the rigs you use. Would love to see some rare/odd species being targeted, I feel like Youd probably catch anything you targeted.

Thanks bro, so sick that your getting value from me stuffing about In my kayak! I wish I could catch anything I targeted bc I've been targeting a 20kg kingfish all my life lol. That being said, as I get further south there's definitely more species available.

Great video Matt. I'm always learning something new from you. Thanks man. If I can figure out the drift maybe I'll get some nice reds. I'm still telling people about your channel

Thanks man, Goodluck. I always like doing a dummy drift to figure out what way the wind and tide are pushing me

those blue mackerels are the best both alive and dead but very hard to hook into. only hooked a few off the wharf. good job on the shark and kingfish haha hows ur wrist btw?
@NomadicKayakFishing
@NomadicKayakFishing 5 месяцев назад
Yea man those blue koheru are a nightmare to land, they swim directly to the surface and shake like crazy until the hook eventually falls out:/ Wrist is healed up good after two weeks off the water. Now I'm in napier hoping to get a chance at tuna

@@NomadicKayakFishing nice i could use a tuna or few haha or even those blue/slimy mackerel

If you can , take the time to learn to bridal your live baits. Just need a bait needle and bridal material of your choice, (rubberband, thread, ect...) Same way you would fish for marlin... Allows for maximum hook exposure and Live-bait Longevity. Tight lines...
@NomadicKayakFishing
@NomadicKayakFishing 5 месяцев назад
Thanks man, I actually do often Bridle my larger livebaits. However with the smaller livebaits I find that there is ample hook exposure. Definitely agree that it's the best way to rig them. Cheers

Great vid man! With the Kayak, what swirl do you tend to target? I've got a Kayak myself and mostly keep to estuaries and stuff, but have been tempted to try a bay out sometime.

If you mean 'swell' , it all depends where I'm launching, if it's not a surf beach then I dint mind a big ground swell. However if it's a surf launch I usually try fir days with less than 1m swell

@@NomadicKayakFishing Sorry man, should have proof read my reply haha. I did mean swell! Thanks for the reply. I'm currently binge watching your other vids, good stuff. The big Mako one was great

@@NomadicKayakFishing then please could you do a “catching bait, for dummies” clip?! What’s the best times? Where ? To berley or not to berley? How to recognise bait sign on sounder preferred sabiki style and anything else you deem relevant. There’s not much on the tube except peeps conjuring up bait on sabiki they just dropped over the side.

possibly in the future i can make a video, in all honesty im not the best at catching live bait. often times its as simple as marking a bait ball and (as you describe) conjuring up bait on a sabiki you drop over the side. the hard part is finding the bait fish on the sounder and im no expert in that. although typically its easier at change of light (dawn/dusk). i hope this helps untill i manage to get a video about the ins and outs of sabiki fishing
