@muzikgod r inability to understand compartmentalization of cultures including music is YOUR issue...not anybody elses. It is plausible, maybe not probable....which means there are statistical percentages that can easily slip by. He might have had brushes with it that he never paid attention to and doesnt remember. Let go of your ego.
The zombie gorilla's dance (around 4:45) is the same as Michael Jackson's Thriller music video, which is why the clap above the head's in there. Also, it's a melodica - a keyboard that you blow into to produce the sound, but play the notes on the keys - rather than a harmonica. Damon plays it on a number of Gorillaz songs.
Oh dude, Gorillaz has one of the deepest lores ever for a fictional band. It tells a story throughout their albums, and it's a LOOOONG one. Could be cool to make a series of it!
Considering that they exist in a shared universe, it's deeper than many realize. Same universe as Powerpuff girls. The creators of each are friends and started burying references in each work, then actually had one of the PPG villains fill in on base for the Gorillaz at one point
It really is virtually impossible that you've never heard this song, not just because it's an amazing song, but because it was played literally EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME! Anyway, Gorillaz are a virtual band, founded by (and doing vocals) Damon Albarn from Blur.
Idk man.. I heard feel good Inc and this song for the first time like 3 years ago and I grew up with rock and metal, etc 🤣🤷♂️ Could be lying, or could have heard the song and recognized certain parts without having actually ever really listened to it
The artistry of Gorillaz is astounding. There's never been a band so untethered by genre, industry, or expectations. They just make pure music, they've been telling this story for over twenty years, and every song is a masterpiece. You could make a channel thats just a deep dive into them and it would be successful because they are such a phenomenal group.
Look into Pigface, 150+ revolving members from bands like tool , the cure, Nin, sex pistols, peter Murphy, ministry, sepultura, Rammstein, Gwar, sisters of mercy, Red Hot chili peppers, Ween, and that's just scratching the surface.
Del is one of my favourite rappers precisely because of the swagger he puts in his delivery. It's got a bit of an old-school feel to it, but it's smoother, like you said, just riding the wave.
You may like Funny Man, from Hollywood Undead. He has a lot of the vibes with a laid back feel to most of his rhyming and raps and he has a deep voice as well. :) And of course the grandfather of deep voiced rappers with cool flows, Nate Dogg
Definitely one of those great songs from the 2000's. There's an amazing metal cover that was done of this song by Leo Moracchioli that you would probably enjoy.
To be fair, I'm in my early thirties, and this song came out when I was 11. It wouldn't be surprising that someone in their twenties wouldn't have heard it.
@@DarkestAndBlackest Alex is 29, would have been 7 at the time, don't make excuses for him. All of his kid friends would have been listening to it, all over the radio, and television.
Part of the 'thing' of Gorrilaz is that they always have a guest artist that kinda determines the direction of the song, which makes every song unique and means they bounce wildly between genres. Personally I really like their songs 'Melancholy Hill', 'Saturnz Barz' and 'DARE'. And this one of course
Bro, i dont care if someone has heard it for the first time or millionths of times. Im just glad people still bop this. It's a timeless banger, and hopefully, it will be forever.
This entire album is brilliant. First listen: appreciate the songs. Second listen: Hear all the instruments, styles, tones and influences that gel in an amazingly complex and smooth way. Nothing in this album is straightforward or basic, but it feels easy and accessible. Classic album.
The Gorillaz are my absolute favorite band, they just can't be categorized into any genre because every album is so different. Hope you respond to more of their songs, they have so many good ones.. And Damon Albarn is a genius, always amazing how he juggles Blur, Gorillaz and all his projects
I love the Gorillaz! Some of my other favorite songs from the 1st album are "Tomorrow Comes Today", "19-2000", "5/4"... actually, I'm just going to say the whole 1st album is just such a great mix of sounds and funky vibes that I love!
Same here. I remember popping in the disc to our household Gateway computer and watching the music video and couldn't stop laughing when he gets pulled down by the nuts. Sound Check (Gravity) is probably one of my favorite tracks of all time.
Fun fact if you havent known, the voice for 2-D, the bands virtual lead singer is actually voiced by dameon albarn who is in fact the lead singer for the rock band BLUR.
i want to say thanks dude been a fan of Gorillaz for years but i never really delved into the back story of the songs till recently so when you pointed out what the back story for this song was it was like a block just fell into place & suddenly i could see the deeper meaning & vibe on a deeper level so cheers
'The harmonica gives the song a five o'clock shadow'... In all my YT travels, I never heard such an oddly specific description for a musical instrument's contribution to a song. Yet, I'm not remotely surprised it came from you, Alex😉
Definitely one of those songs that I refuse to skip no matter how many times it pops up. This one, feel good inc. and tomorrow comes today are for sure my favorites.
😵 I've heard this song probably a bajillion times before and know the background and what it was intended to represent makes me not only want to listen to it on repeat but straight up gave me CHILLS this time. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS BREAKDOWN!!!!
Don't be so gullible. You honestly believe he's never heard this song before? People do this all the time. Do fake reactions to things they obviously already knew about. He does it for money.
I've been a passive fan of Gorillaz for 20 years, catching a couple songs of theirs here and there. Last year, I did a deep dive and listened to EVERYTHING. They quickly climbed my ranks and are now in my top 5. I highly recommend reacting to more of them. They have no set genre, either. The creators just wanted to make music, and they've been highly successful at it, including TONS of collabs. Mostly with UK stars, but also with some US stars like Snoop, Jack Black, and Bruce Willis as a character in a music video. Some songs you could react to, some of my faves actually. Dare, El Manana, Empire Ants, Welcome to the World of Plastic Beach, Plastic Beach, Rhinestone Eyes, Stylo, Tranz, Melancholy Hill, The Lost Cord, Cracker Island, and Humility. I could say so many others, but those are all top-tier bangers. Immaculate vibes.
I can still remember hearing this song premiering on the radio. My middle school/high school years had some bangers and it was a weeeeeeeird time for music. But it was beautiful and I miss it so much.
I don't really comment on videos often but Alex has become one of my favourites and Gorillaz might just be my all time favourite band. Would love to see more reactions.
Damon always picks the best people to collaborate on his Gorillaz tracks. Del, De La Soul, Snoop Dogg (Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach is just brilliant) among others. It's all golden. Also it's not a harmonica, it's a melodica :)
I don't know why but the fact that you JUST heard this song for the first time made me feel very old LOL 😆 I love your reaction 👍 It's awesome to see someone genuinely enjoying great music! Your channel rocks
Those dance moves they do with their shoulders and all that is from "Thriller" by Michael Jackson. If you've never seen that video, you should. It's done like a mini horror movie.
I’m a metal head, but when my wife and I “partake in communion” with the grass in the backyard… you can betcha we got Gorillaz on the playlist. Their latest album is also full of bangers
Came to your channel about a week ago to see your reaction to LIBAD. Then I had this waved in my face and I had to subscribe. Good entertaining breakdowns man.
Gorillaz is one wild ride. I mean everything they've done is just so unique. I mean Plastic Beach and Demon Days Gorillaz are just awesome. No other Band sounds like them.
BRO 100% keen to see more of you checking out Gorillaz. There's such an awesome variety of songs. Super chill/sombre songs like El Manana or Aries. Upbeat happy stuff like Humility, trippy songs like Tranz. Any and all of it. All the best mate.
Gorillaz were such a trend setter. They were the first band to really get in to audio-visual, now every group does it. Some other songs by them for you to check out are 19-2000, Fire Coming Out of the Monkey's Head, Stylo, Kids With Guns, Dare.
Alex I'm STOKED that you reacted to this! I'm a big fan of this song. I've been a fan since I first heard it back when it first came out all those years ago! Should you listen to more Gorrilaz? Uh.. YUP! I'm not going to pick a song though - go with your gut. :)
Harmonicas DO actually give songs a five o clock shadow. 😂😂😂😂❤ Loved that comment so much, on top of all the other commentary. You are the best, Alex. 😊
I absolutely love the Soul Child remix of 19-2000 as a follow up song/MV to go into after this one, but another really good track of the first album is "Tomorrow Comes Today" its worth a listen!!!!!!
@@mowerman8377haha I often think that too. No way you didn't know x. I kind of accept it as given when it comes to Elizabeth Zharhoff's channel. As an Opera singer she is a bit more detached of let's say common music. But damn she is fun to watch her reactions. Be it fake or not. Like her input with her music background
For years Gorillaz was considered a one-hit-wonder because of this song right here. And then they put out Demon Days which is one of the greatest hiphop albums of all time. Seriously. Every track on Demon Days is a masterpiece.
Hope you are doing well. Need to do more Gorillaz, Dirty Harry, Dare, Plastic Beach, Meloncholy Hill, Strange Timez, The Last Chord, The Pink Phantom, El Manana, all great songs. By the way, been reacting with you since you first started. Always have enjoyed your enthusiasm and passion in your reactions. Keep it up.
I'm actually surprised that you had never heard this song before. We're almost the same age, and I remember this song receiving a lot of air time on MTV!
I’ve been away for a while but it’s cool to see you keeping the energy for the reactions. I gotta say man, you can’t mix that eyewear with that mustache. I’m not going to say what it looks like but I wouldn’t let my kid near you 😂. I’m half kidding. Cool vid, though I don’t buy that it’s the first time you’ve heard this song.
Such a good song, this jam is definitely what hooked me on Gorillaz...even before I realized the lead singer is the same guy that was the lead singer of Blur.
My sister and I love this band ever since I bought a disk entitled "Demon Days" without even knowing them at the first place. Her most favourite Gorillaz song now is "Saturnz Barz" and "Fire Flies" total banger for times you want to chill.
Gorrilaz is a band well worth exploring. This song is one that you put in the playlist for when you just want to vibe, like disconnect and float along with the music. Oh, where to go next form here... I'd say definitely need to hear (in no particular order) "Dare," "Stylo," "On Melancholy Hill," "Cracker Island," "Dirty Harry," and "19-2000." If I had to "top 3" that list I'd say Stylo, Dare, and Cracker Island in that order. Also if you've been itching for some Linkin Park there have been several "new" songs released from old demos and masters that were never put on an album, most dating back to the Meteora days and are thus being released in conjunction with the Meteora 20th Anniversary release. I think you've already reacted to "Lost" but there's also demos of FIgure.09 and Faint that are really great, as well as "Fighting Myself" and "More the Victim," as well as instrumental tracks like "Pepper," "A-Six (original Long Version)," and "Rhinocerous."
I love the the Gorillaz!! Been listening to them since this song came out way back in the day, I was like 10. Welcome to the club, you will end up down the rabbit hole lol
Hey Alex, the gorillas dancing in a graveyard animation. They are doing the Dance from MJ's Thriller dude, lol That's why is it so fimlure. But the music is one that sticks with you. :) Just found your channel buddy keep it up. l
I've been waiting for reactors to catch on to their cannon in the videos, PLEASE Look into reacting to them in order of release, Bananaz is worth watching for some clarity about how the collective works, it will help make sense of the project as a whole, and theres 20 + years of masterpieces to discover. Not to mention artists you've never been aware of to discover too❤
