Thank you, young man, for this video. I am 63 in a few days and raced moto-x from 8 years of age through my young 20s. I, of course, can only savor the memories of long ago, but watching you with your helmet cam put me as close to being on that seat as possible without actually sitting on it. I was on the edge of my couch racing right there with you 😂. You guys got such COOL 😎 Bikes now...dam. thanks again, and enjoy being young. Some day you will be an old man like me and have these wonderful memories to savior.
That pass for the lead was fukkin epic dude..had me hooting and hollering and up off the couch..and those rollers were so brutal looking OMG what a nice ride your dialing in on the 450
ikr? the rollers looked/felt punishing af. I wonder if it's the camera angle or what. I would have thought braking bumps on the downhills. but honestly, those rollers. it seemed brutal. like how much of your body is absorbing stuff for each hit?

Good for you Matt! I raced mostly in Michigan my life through the 90’s and never felt comfortable doing it. It is a big deal. If you have not been there you won’t get it.
@@Janko630 Yeah that helps. I was there as a spectator in ‘92 when it was new. I have a pic of Stanton, Bradshaw and Kiedrowski all in the air at the same time on the jump. What some people don’t realize is the factory bikes have different gearing in the transmission. This is why the 125’s were able to do the triple’s back then, in supercross. Different story I know. Just putting that out there.
What was the most brutal part of the track for you? the bike pov seemed pretty gnarly in a lot of places. edit: turn before the rollers looked a lot less loose/sandy than pro day.
@@mattburkeen820 it made those rollers look truly insanely brutal though. like you're soaking a hard stop 6x in a row. I could not imagine hitting those more than twice. I'd be completely gassed even on my best day.

A little hustle and bustle battle there in the first few laps. Now at the leap is a different story as little fella hit the step up and Matty goes over him saying, “hold my beer”! Contracts, contracts, contracts. Just read em, its in there.
Hell yea. That's the smoothest I've seen you ride. Now if you can psychologically carry over that same flow for the nationals when it's rougher. Great job dude. Fun to watch.

You might not be towards the front of the pack. But you’re definitely handling that 450 so much better compared to when you first hopped on it. Great job on hitting the leap, can’t imagine how cool it is to hit that big ol jump. Must be cool just to be able to be a part of the pro class and be around all the pros and have a somewhat successful job at making Contant. I would do anything to be in your shoes and have the opportunities that you have. I’m 48 so I couldn’t be able to live that life, but I sure wish I would’ve made different choices when I were younger. I was there watching you guys race on Sunday. I saw you doing the leap. Was there another guy doing it also that you were racing against? If not, I took an awesome pic of you from up on the hill near the announcers stand/bleachers. It was definitely a blue Yamaha. I wish I could post it somewhere you could see it. It really shows the air you get and the front end is pointed up at the sky no other bikes or spectators in the shot.
