So fun to watch this with my older brother. Thank you for suggesting this song. If you are new to reactions, we are supposed to pause and talk over it to be at least somewhat transformative. What a song and what a performance.

Just Like Frank Zappa. And If you haven't heard of him, I suggest you seek him out. The song "Trouble Every Day" from Zappa's debut album, "The Mothers Of Invention - Freak Out " from 1966 is arguably the first Rap flow ever! If you don't believe me, Listen to It... I dare ya'😁

@@leddygee1896 Thanks. That was cool. I have heard of them but not this particular song, it’s definitely ahead of its time. Although, I’d say Cab Calloway’s scatting is also a bit of a precursor to rapping.

The first time I saw Zeppelin live was 23rd March 1969 at my local pub. The venue was supposed to hold 200 max, and there was over 400 people in the hall. They were paid £100 for the gig, and tickets cost £1, and we even got to chat to the band afterwards. Last time I saw them was 4th August 1979, and I saw them another 5 times in between. Each time was better than the last, and their music will live on forever in my opinion.

My oldest brother was ten years older than me and he took me to a few big, outdoor rock jam festivals, probably mostly to impress his girlfriends. I was a little kid and pre-Vietnam he was a very clean cut guy. Passing that sacrament every Sunday. 😉 So we were not on anything at all and didn't need to be. I got to see some legendary bands all before the age of 10. Then in 1970 he went to Vietnam along with 2 of our other brothers. The world was never the same after that for them or for me.

My first concert was Ted Nugent. I was sitting dead center just a couple of rows up from the standing area in front of the stage when the guy on my right taps me on the shoulder and proceeds to hand me a large joint roach clip included. I never did drugs so I did not partake and passed it on down to my buddy who kept it going like doing the wave at a football game or something. Then the Motor City Mad Man makes his entrance by dropping from the rafters of the arena by a rope screaming the Tarzan sound and wearing nothing but a loin cloth. When the rope drops him down to about center stage he lets go of it and someone throws his guitar up which he catches in mid air and by the time he lands on the stage he is already playing Cat Scratch Fever. I never witnessed anything like that ever again at a concert.

@KivaDigs I definitely understand your point. Sebs has reacted to many songs I have requested thru the tip jar. Occasionally a part of a song that I want to see how he reacts to is missed because of some chatter or laughter at the critical point that I was waiting on. Man, I figure it just comes with the territory of reacting to unfamiliar music. He has added a “feature” where he reads through the lyrics afterwards and usually catches anything he missed during the song. Not quite the same but close enough for me I guess. Sebs however is definitely the most entertaining person out there at doing reactions in my opinion. I apologize if I came across as a little snarky. That wasn’t my intention.

Sebs, every concert that I went to in the 1970's, the place was full of marijuana smoke. It wasn't unusual to be passed a joint from a complete stranger, take a toke and pass it on. You can see the smokiness in the lights at this concert if you pay attention so yeah, I'd say a good percentage of the audience was high. I loved what you said about their confidence, it's one of the things that I think the band possessed in abundance. Thanks for reaction, for the record, I didn't mind y'all talking. Unfortunately Sebs if a song has been doctored (remastered) that likely means that at least the vocals have been run through Tone Control and Pitch Correction software. It’s becoming somewhat difficult to find live tracks that haven’t been pitch corrected after the fact by someone on behalf of the musician or band. If anyone is interested, Fil of the Wings of Pegasus site does “Analysis” videos that aren’t a competitor of or a replacement for reaction videos like these by Sebs. Using software that actually graphs the vocals Fil can visually prove whether vocals are original or have been pitch corrected. Additionally Fill recently “busted” the Eagles for actually miming pitch corrected versions of their songs during their live concerts. A suspicious fan sent Fil a video of the band’s live performance asking if they were really singing or only miming. Analysis showed that they were miming! He then determined many other bands are also guilty. Fascinating and eye opening stuff!

We saw them twice and it was a blast. Literally. So loud your teeth might rattle. But even back then we knew seeing them was a historic event.

Note the opposing tempos that Bonham(drummer) plays throughout the song. Time changes for the whole band. Hfor two bars at a time. Sick music theory applied.

Yes this reaction video is not meant to replace or compete with the original. You should only be here if you are interested in watching and listening to Sebs’ reaction to the song. If you want to listen to the original without interruption then search for it by name and pick this same live performance, a different live performance of the song or the studio version, whichever fits your fancy!

I understand reacting, but they talked through the majority of the song, as the other person commented, we couldn’t for one hear what they were saying. Stop it once or twice, say what you need to say, & react at the end.

Ledgend has it that the reason they named the song Black Dog is because they didn't know what to call it but there was a big black dog hanging around while they were writing it so they decided to just name it Black Dog. Live Zep is always fun but the studio versions are more polished and sonically pleasing..

The best way to cut through the chaos is to have a bass player like John Paul Jones.

I saw Led Zeppelin in early 1972 at Southampton University, just before Led Zeppelin IV (the runes album!) was released. They had released Led Zeppelin, Led Zeppelin Ii and Led Zeppelin III and Plant introduced a song off the new album saying sorry about the delay in releasing the album, we can’t think what to call it!!!!

My best friend at that time worked the center where LZ was playing and he got to set up the stage and put Jimmy Page's guitar on the exact spot so they could come out on stage in the dark and find their instruments.

Led Zeppelin pretty much the greatest rock band, but when you watch the live performance of "Free Bird" you might be tempted to change your mind about this.

Sebs has already reacted to Free Bird by Lynyrd Skynyrd. Just search for it by typing into the RU-vid search function (small magnifying glass at top right of screen) something to the effect of “Sebs Duran Free Bird”. If I’m telling you something you already know I sincerely apologize. Never know when someone could be a newbie who really needs a tip!

You hear this and think it would be the greatest achievement of Metallica or GnR etc...and its just one in a pantheon of great and utterly unique music by Led Zepplin. They have more than a dozen legendary tunes.

@robertprice6830 Regarding imperfection, a bunch of my friends and I once decided that the appeal of The Rolling Stones must be that it was easy to sing along with their music because most people can’t carry a tune but neither can Mick Jagger! 😂

I was a teenager when the film was released that this was taken from. It is funny. I see RU-vid comments all raving about how good this sounds. It is good, don't get me wrong. But here is the kicker. When it was released it was criticized because the band didn't sound their best. People that saw them live complained. It didn't capture the magic. Robert even explained it by saying that it was recorded at the end of a tour segment and they were all tired. So think about that. As good as this sounds, this was not one of their better shows.

It sounds like a simple song to play. But Jimmy Page said it was their most difficult. Jon Paul Jones intentionally wrote the song with each member actually playing something different. It was impossible to recreate what they did in studio. Yet it still spunds epic live.
