11oz is ok, a bit heavy
Ego Max is cushion is not soft comparison to other products
Because of that, feels dated (which it sort of is, as the new version VIA Olympus 2 has same midsole cushion.) but could be nice if they offered a softer feel.

The via olympus 2 is totally different from the 1. The main criticism of the 1 is that its too firm. For the 2 they changed the midsole to be much softer.

Surprised that the review didn't mention anything about the zero drop insole and foot shaped profile, which are two of the USPs of this shoe.

Oh didn't realize this was Via Olympus v1! I've tried both on foot and V1 and V2 are very different. V1 midsole are like bricks. V2 has some good squish to it. Maybe slightly squishier than 880v14. Or in that ballpark. I was confused when you said it's firmer than the Bondi but that makes sense now lol 😂

I am so glad you did this review , I hope Altra will see this (they will) and see what I’ve been thinking for years (I love their shoes) . They need a squishier foam on the timps, and Olympus , and the lone peak. Each needs a squishy foam in thin, medium , and max thicknesses.

I have these and they’re ok. Like the last and shape. The laces stay tied which is underrated. They are fairly lightweight. Probably won’t buy another Altra without trying it on, however. They’re likely to be my summer yard work shoe.

I got these and I hated them. I love the concept of wide shoes with zero drop and those components are great but the foam is booty. It felt like running on blocks. I just wish this company would use better foam. You nailed what they should do at the end. I think the Via Olympus 2s were supposed to be bouncier even though they call the foam the same thing.

Olympus 2's are a bit softer. I do like the chunky shape of them as well.

You should try Via olympus 2. They softer than this ver.1

i tried a pair of Altra goretex runners last summer but ended up returning them. Weirdly enough one of the selling points for this brand is the wider more natrual shaped toebox but I found it uncomfortable with my pinky toe rubbing and almost getting a blister. I think these will work for some people but for some they may want to just stick to something like a Hoka shoe.

Interesting how our perceptions of cushioning are different. The Clifton had squish but the Bondi 8 is the firmest max cushion shoe I've tried. I felt the Altra Via Olympus 2 was definitely softer than the Bondi 🤔
