I finally watched APOCALYPTO and It was INTENSE... 

Yep and we had the most accurate calendars

The movie is wrong. They were aztecs not mayan. When the spanish conquistadors, the aztec empire was at the peak of strength. The maya were long gone. disappeared. When the mexica and toltec started to arise. As a combine group, later mexica took over completely. And started to conquer other tribes. The pyramids some were already built. The aztecs built almost the same structures almosct the same as the mayans did. The aztecs were already a great civilization, structural ,political in math and science and other. As the mayans were. many tribes hated the aztecs. because of the human sacrifices. and ruthlessness . So many sided with the spaniards. not knowing, they were used by these white men, for their gain . exploitation, and robbery. Also Montezuma wanted to see cortez. 1. There is a legend before the mayan empire of kulkukan , of a man and his group came from the east or west. don't remember. but the legend goes that a group of men or a man. came from the water. similar as cortez. And was going to raise the aztec empire more. The same legend goes with the mayan and then inca. with another name viracocha. that's why Montezuma wanted to see cortez, of curiosity, and if the legend was true, of cortez.

Yes the same thing happened to the Native Americans in what is now known as the USA. The Europeans brought their disease to them and wiped a lot of the Natives out.... Went about claiming everything for themselves

Yes, it was their Apocalypto. The end of their old world.

Actually, it was not the end of those who lived in the jungle - they still exist to this day. It was the end of those who lived in the cities. But yes, the population of the Americas was practically exterminated, mainly due to disease, notwithstanding the wars and atrocities they were also subjected to by the Spanish. Many died of diseases like small pox and measles even before they got to see a European in the flesh. It is estimated that there were hundreds of millions of native Americans living in the new world in pre-Colombian times. It dropped to a few million after the arrival of the Europeans. One of the greatest decimations to a population in human history.

Just a movie, although it is possible a man can survive in the manner as the main character. And as for the rest of your comment on the movie, most of the movie was as accurate as historical facts are provided.

its not a wild boar, its is a tapir. Wild boars are old world animals, not belonging to the Americas (although it has been introduced here later on and are now an invasive specie). But this seems to be a sophisticated tapir, it speaks a foreign language. In the movie it squeals like a pig, but tapirs make whistle sounds.
