In this writing vlog I finished my first draft during the final week of camp nanowrimo! All this despite a week that almost seemed to be trying to distract me 😂
The writing vlog includes writing from all 5 days of camp nano week 4, observations about scenes I'm liking the most, and all the challenges I faced this week. There were more than a few!!

I just found your channel today and I already feel so inspired! I am working on a Science Fantasy project that has a huge world and a ton of backstory with lore. However, I digress. After finding your channel today I feel ready to explore and dive even more into my story! I did watch your world building video and that was the one that really got me excited lol 😂 thank you for sharing! Also, I haven’t been doing Nano if that’s how you spell it lol 😂 but I do on average write about 5,000 words a day so I think I could do it lol 😂 however, I’m not sure. But all in all, thank you for inspiring me! And good luck with your project!

Congratulations on accomplishing what you set out to do! I planned to do it this april, but things didn't go very well. However, I think I'm no longer in freefall. I'm going to be trying to do something this month if life doesn't get in the way too much.

@@john_writing_ It's going great so far, but I realized I used the wrong character sheet by Abbie Emmons and now I am working on the second one. I think both sheets are really useful except maybe the daily routine. I am already almost finished again with Jake and started a little bit on Gabby, just need to sort out their relationships and then start writing my outline. :D

I feel like some character worksheets are more useful for a person set in modern day life with a pretty normal lifestyle. They don't really seem to work for Sci-fi/Fantasy characters as well... Either way, sounds like things are going well! Hope the outlining and remaining character work goes just as smoothly :)

@@john_writing_ Thanks, I am now working on Gabby before I sort out both relationships, but I have a lot of Jake's horrible moments sorted out, I still need to figure out Gabriel's issues and such. It's soooo close but so far D: I can't wait!

@@john_writing_ I agree with you though in regards to how character sheets generally seem to affect more slice of life characters, for instance what is a typical outfit and some even going out to say a daily routine. They help but at some point it's very easy to go off the deep end and we are now talking about the molecules of the character's hair. I think the new character sheet works a lot better for Fantasy/Sci-fi than the last one and it has really helped me sharpen my focus on who my character is.

Thanks Gussie!! I'll continue getting up at 4am for sure and I will be writing some smaller stuff during the gap between now and the readthrough; doing some experiments and what not. But also a big thing I want to focus on is improving some of the problems I noticed with my writing during this month!

I'm curious: after a writing month like this, do you typically take some time off, to recharge? Or do you make a point of continuing to write, so the muscles don't stiffen up?

I don't have any hard and fast rule, but this month was pretty tiring, so I'm currently taking a week of relaxed work. Mostly just learning and doing light work that appeals to me. I did start brainstorming for a different world and story, but just because I was excited by it. I'm not too worried about any sort of decline, because I'm in this for the long haul and a week or two of relaxed writing demands is tiny in the grand scheme of things 👍
