After you put the touch-up in the scratch you should squeegee the excess paint off with a credit card while the paint is wet. This way you don't have thick paint to sand off the good area.

Honestly the spirit was not even the same class of vehicle. The Olds and the SHO were targeted to a different market. Was it fast? Ya, sure it was! Was it also a cruiser that could take you anywhere extremely comfortably and quietly? No, it wasn’t. You wouldn’t compare a modern SHO to an SRT-4, even though the spirit and the neon are very similar in target market.

We were going to the cliffs south eastern Pa to go through Maryland and back to pa idk but its what I remember how to get to the cliffs in my buddies 5 series bmw flying down this road in Maryland that it seemed like every front yard had a classic muscle car restored for sale and all of a sudden this little crappy car with 6 kids packed in comes up behind us passes up and continues to build speed up until i couldn't see them in front anymore...i was like what kind of car was that ? Quad 442 stands for 4 cylinder, 4 valve, 2 cams I believe. It's definitely a 4 banger trunk lid.

@@dmacarthur5356 There are multiple variations of the Quad 442 found in the Beretta GTZ/Z26, the Grand Am GT, etc. The W41 was a package which included the 190hp version of the Quad 442. It was only found in the '91 Cutlass Calais W41 and its successor, the '91-'92 Achieva SCX W41 (Achieva SCs could be had with the 'lesser' Quad 442 motors).

its not a 4 banger trunk lid. that is a decal from a 90-91 Calais W40 package car. that decal went just behind the front wheels.

Word to the wise: dont ceramic coat an area youre still working on compounding because if you hit that ceramic area the polymer bonds will booger up some and really nulify your pad. Im sure some detail experts will say the same. It can be done but its better to keep your pad clean.

22:35. Yes as crazy as it sounds (at least speaking for the cobra taillights) people sell them for that much. I think $2000 is way too much but I’ve seen them sell for $1000. The taillights have amber turn signals and those specific taillights are only found on 99/01 cobra mustangs and some import mustangs so yes, they’re rare. The front bumpers on those cars were equally as rare as they also only came on 99/01 cobras. People could sell a mint condition 99/01 cobra bumper upwards of $800. That was until LMR released a reproduction bumper yesterday 😂.

That episode was one of my favorites so far Alex! I'm an 80s kid and it was so fun seeing the 90s cars racing! I own a '90 Corrado, '99 F150 4.6 5spd, and a '10 Volvo s80 (with the Yamaha built 32v v8) so I was kinda rooting for the SHO, but I love all 3 cars!

That rust converter works so much better and quicker if you use some brake cleaner, scuff it up with whatever, brake cleaner again, then absolutely drench it with the restorer. Still needs a couple coats but does sooo much better. And cheaper than POR 15 obviously, lol. Also, you leaving it un-tinted made me smile. Some cars just NEED the crystal clear windows. My '00 Caravan wouldn't cut it with tint. Can't explain it!

What an absolute Treat to see that Beretta Indy...love those GM L-body cars! I had a 94 Corsica with the improved 3100 V6, I added a Front strut tower brace from a '92 cavalier convertible, 92 Beretta GT tach Dash cluster, z51 rear sway bar from a Beretta GT, found the Ground effects kit,rear Lip rear spoiler and Solid grill from a super rare 89 Corsica XT along with a set of 15 inch Corsica LTZ Wheels!, damn it!! I miss that car!

You keep talking like the 3.4 DOHC and the 3.8 are the same engine family. THEY ARE NOT!. The 3.4 DOHC is derived from the 2.8 V6 which is a 60 degree engine. It was built as a 2.8 then 3.1, then 3.4. They were updated to a "high value" 3.5, and finally a 3.9 in it's last iteration in GM minivans. The 3.8 engines have always been 90 degree engines.

I’ll help. Remove the Sticker. The Sticker don’t go to your car. The 442 option was revived on the Quad 442 front-wheel drive 1990-1991 Cutlass Calais. This model used a 2.3 L LG0 Quad-4 four-cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder and two camshafts.

Yea that olds 442 sticker isn’t correct , last model year was the 1991. The 442 meant 4 cylinder , 4 valves per cylinder and 2 cam shafts. They had a 2.3 4 cylinder with either 180 horse for the w-40 model or 190 for the w-41 model.

NOT 4 speed. It was a 5 speed manual. 4 cylinder 4 seat, 2(dual) exhaust. The original 442 was 4 barrel, 4 seat 2(dual) exhaust.

Alex, Seeing this car has been a blast from the past. Though not the exact same, when I was a kid my mom had a '91 (I believe) Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme (sedan), with the digital dash. We liked to joke that it "made" gas, because occasionally the sending unit would fluctuate and report that we'd gained back a bar on the "piano bar" gas gauge. We really liked that car, we only traded it when my mom decided she wanted a bigger vehicle and went with a '94 (again, I think) Oldsmobile Bravada. After I became of age to drive, the insurance on that was astronomical to add me on, so she went back to another Cutlass Supreme, a '97 at the time. Oldsmobiles always treated us wonderful, and I miss the brand. Glad you're keeping this fantastic score of a car.

No it is not a four banger trunk lid do not remove it It is the original car what it stands for you have a special engine in there I am a GM Master tech I just live down in Indy what it stands for quad 442 is your engine It has four cams That's what the quad is for It is a dual twin cam It has four cams two cams in each head which makes it a quad 442 very very rare

84-89 Merkur xr4ti. Imported by Mercury Germany to Lincoln dealers. Brits got them as Ford Sierra. I drove the Xr4ti and loved it due to the unique body and 2.4 turbo 4 cylinder. It was ahead of the other cars in some features.

800 grit is best used for sanding panels or parts to prep before paint. Wet sanding a painted finish I like to go no lower than 1500 grit and then follow that up with a 3000 and 5000 wet sanding paper. When you said 800 I got a little concerned. Atleast with the burn being in the center It would be easier to repaint the door and not throw the color off the fender and quarter by not covering the edges of the door with base.

Great episode! I was an all GM guy in the 90’s but was into older cars at the time because that’s what I could afford. My pride and joy was an 86’ Monte Carlo SS. Can confirm, replaced a starter in a 90’s Cutlass supreme, same color for a friend and it was a nightmare in the dirt driveway. I like all of these cars now but the Beretta is my pick!

the quad 4 was in the Calais.....REMOVE THE QUAD 442....not stock!!!!

The Quad 442 was the Cutlass Calais with a certain performance package. It had the Quad 4 high output with about 190hp. Also, the Olds Achieva SCX had the same engine. It’s worth looking up and maybe finding one to add to your collection. My buddy had a an Achieva SCX in high school (early 2000’s time frame) and that would beat Integra GSR’s, FWD DSM’s up to about 100 and a handful of other cars. It was a fun sleeper and the same color as your olds.

The SHO and the Olds are 2 of my favorite cars of the era. It would be nice to drive one again…better yet, own one. Thanks LSC for sharing these with us.
