Imagine your soul being a race and life is a marathon. The reward is heaven but we need to cross the finish line to get there. You've trained so hard for this tough hard working race but at the 100 meter line you stop because your tired and you want to quit...that's how I would describe medical suicide. Keep going til finish the race no matter how hard it is...the reward is worth all the pain and suffering. Keep preaching the truth, Father 👍

Decades ago I was a hospice volunteer. The families (and the patients) all suffered as the time came closer for the loved one to die. However, I was present when relationships were healed, a renewal of faith happened and when acceptance became joy. The process is more than just pain. Taking your life ends the pain..and the blessings you could have had.

As a practicing Catholic registered nurse in Toronto who has refused to refer patients for MAiD and convinced patients to not die by MAiD, I aporeciate your message, Father Mark. However, I would like to clarify your point about morphine. In patients who are actively dying, large amounts of morphine will not hasten death. Without adequate sedation and pain management from medications such as morphine, the patient will die sooner and with much discomfort due to the stress of +++pain, difficulty breathing, +++discomfort. Not only does morphine ease pain, but it also relaxes the breathing muscles, allowing the dying patient to breathe easier.

Been a reborn Christian since 19 & can’t believe I’ll be 60 soon, I still eat Froot Loops, watch cartoons, still invest, go to Bible study, Catechism 101 with Fr JP Seon here in NY, Mass & continue my walk with God

As a hospice worker morphine doesn't hasten death, it helps the patient let go, relax and have a peaceful passing. Morphine is never given until you are in the active dying stage. Blessings ❤

I remember having conversations with my dad in the late 60's, 70's, talking about euthanasia, medical assisted deaths (he didn't say suicide) and I remember very distinctly not believing things like this would happen. I am at an age where I could start experiencing bad health. I am a sinner no doubt but will carry on to my final end the last thing I want to do is die in mortal sin and have to face the consequences of hell. Thanks Father I will not forget your mandate no matter what.

BRAVO Father! My dear mother suffered so her last three to four years on earth. Every day she fought to live. She was 88 and on dialysis until shortly before her death. We, my brother in particular, fought for her until her last breath. It was when she received last rites that I recognized Protestant churches were not my home and I came home to our Catholic faith.

I love this! :) I can't believe a Catholic would ever think assisted suicide, euthanasia, capital punishment or abortion was okay. Ending someone's life is God's job, not ours. And Doctors are supposed to do no harm! Doctors need our prayers because they are confused these days about what doing no harm means, it seems.

Thank you Fr. Mark for speaking the truth! Last night I watched the season finale of 9-1-1: Lone Star and it bothered me so much. Shows like these are masterminding weak people who think MAID is the answer to suffering. Rob Lowe’s character agreed to his brother’s dying by suicide. I have lost so much respect for actors, writers, directors and producers that allow these shows to filter the minds with suicide as an easy way to leave this earth. Unfortunately it showed also the marriage of two men and kissing so much it made me sick again for the viewers. No respect….all for money and ratings. I pray that all tv shows that give the wrong message have very low ratings and need to cancel them. Truly sad world we are in. Come Lord Jesus!

She just did as much as she could and prayed & prayed & prayed. She knew! Our parish priest came by and said to her, “Its okay Jane. You’ve been a good and faithful servant”. She passed away 6 hours after that 🙏

So many of us wish there were more priests like you, Father! The sheep struggle without a faithful shepherd.

Dear Fr. Mark, Your preaching is GREAT, PRAISE GOD! A good friend of mine died yesterday. His name, Gary Taylor. His experience of death was profoundly Catholic. I also am a RN who was privileged to work with the Sisters of Providence in St. Mary of the Woods, Indiana, USA. I watched my holy friend as well as many sisters who died accept their suffering as God's will for each of them as well as participate in redemptive suffering for their souls or others. So my hat is off to you for speaking the truth that to use suicide to escape your suffering is a mortal sin and damaging to ones soul. Thank you for preaching TRUTH!

We are in the greatest spiritual warfare and destitution in all of human history. Our daily Godliness, watchfullness, morals and prayerfulness are a matter of life and death from now on * The cowardly and diabolical abandonment of exorcisms, spiritual warfare, deliverance and the Godly Holy Spirit infilling has caused all the destructions in the world..past and present..God save us now..

Every single priest an bishop in the world needs to proclaim Fr. Marks words from their pulpits, and at the bedside of every suffering and dying person they visit.

At the end of your sermon, as I trusted you would say what I thought you would say, I was already standing and applauding! If I had been there live for the sermon, proper decorum would have precluded such a reaction. I will continue to pray that you remain courageous in speaking the truths of our faith and how we should apply them in our daily lives.

As Pope St. John Paul II said, "Be not afraid!" We can be assured that in faith our deaths are according to His Will as long as we don't cause them. Thank you, Father! Please continue to speak out! We need good shepherds like you!
