I FORGOT THIS about Riding My Harley Sportster Iron 1200!! It's been a while since I got to spend a whole day riding on my Harley Sportster Iron 1200. I've been mostly riding my Street Bob a lot. But today I spent most of a day riding around on the Sportster and there's plenty of things I forgot about this bike!

I have an 85 FXRT and a 16 FXDL and lately I’ve been so into the FXR that I forgot how nice my dyna actually is. I also ride my wife’s Triumph Street Twin sometimes and every time I do I want to go buy another triumph. Totally agree about the character of the Evo engine. The FXR was the “big twin sportster” and I love all the mechanical noise it makes.

Hi M.J. I own 2 bikes a 2006 883 Sportster and a 2002 BMW R1150RT and after 47 years of riding I am incredibly happy with these two. Bmw for crap weather. We have had heavy rain for nearly 2 and a half weeks! Tomorrow's weather is sun, sun, sun. So it's Sportster day. YIPPEE 😂. Ride and be safe Ron from Ireland 🇮🇪.

I don't have multiple bikes (yet) but I can confirm the Iron 1200 getting a fair amount attention on rides. I often have people stopping to ask what year it is. Because of the tank design people always think it's a much older bike that's been restored or just well kept and want ask about it, lol.

Sportster is my only bike, totally stock , had it since new , now I have almost 7000 kms on it. Long rides do bring back pain though.

Currently I have 3 bikes. 1985 Yamaha FJ600, 2020 Husqvarna Svartpilen 701 and a 2021 1200 Iron. The Husky is a wheelie machine and has grunt but that 700cc single is mad uncomfortable on long rides. The FJ is dated but semi upright and very speedy with some comfort. There is something about the Iron though that really brings a smile to my face. I installed a 2up seat from a 2014 1200C and put on forward controls from Drag Specialties and it really helped with fatigue and back pain. Be safe out there brother.

100% understand what your saying I have my iron 1200 still aswell as my lowrider st and the ST just doesn't have the sound and the rawness that I love.

I have a 2019 1200 iron and it only has 2800 miles and when I ride it it has a raddiling sound especially when you Rev the Rpm and change gears help driving me crazy.

And don't forget the fact that you constantly need gas :). I have exact same 1200NS. A bit more "hooked up". With better Progressives monotubes front and rear, 2 into 1, standalone racing ECU with wide band O2 sensors + some other farkles. It's still bumpy and not as fast as my '07 FXDB that I sort of inherited and fixed up a bit. So after a while I find myself just riding the damn dyna. Sportster is great nimble bike for running errands. But can do nothing that I can't also do on a dyna so it became sort of redundant.

The sportster is a love it or hate it bike for sure. I too love the mechanical visceral feeling and that sound. Arguably the best sounding Harley. At least in my opinion 😜 I also have the twin slash slip-ons only with the quiet baffle. I think it sounds amazing 👌

Beautiful countryside and roads and soooo much of it. So different from East England. Looking forward to getting a 1200 Iron in the near future, definitely my kind of machine. Thanks for sharing.

Hey man, I just wanted to say with a few performance modifications on the evo 1200 can drastically change how it rides. HD severally under-powered both models from factory. I guess they did to meet a certain price point. As well as not to hurt the big v-twin folks feelings. Everything you commented on can easily be adjusted. The sportster is a diamond in the rough. Please look into some modifications. I promise you won't regret it. FTW 🤘

I’m looking for my first Harley and I think this bike is #1 pick. I owned a ton of sport bikes but I’m interested to see why Harleys are so popular.
