Hey Ben, I know this is a little random, but I thought you might like this recipe since I’ve seen you eat spam before, It’s super cheesy and rich, but it’s spam casserole, Basically you just cut up your choice of potatoes into thin slices, cut spam into thin slices, and layer it a few times, along with your choice of shredded cheese, (I prefer cheddar), pour a can of evaporated milk over it, and make sure your final layer is shredded cheese, I do potato, spam, cheese, potato, spam cheese, then pour the milk. Finally, you cover it with foil, and bake in the oven on 375 for 30-45 mins, Uncover and bake additional 5-10 mins until cheese is golden brown. It’s so good!! Hope you see this and give it a shot!!!!
My mate lived in Korea for 10yrs. He said they don't give AF and will copy anything. If a good restaurant opens up, a blatant copy will open across the road. No shame. Ruthless. He had a similar mentality for a year or so when first came back. Didn't give AF but gradually realised how weird it is and that its bad business ethics.
It's not just in Korea...it's everywhere across the globe. There's plenty of brand knockoffs all across Europe (especially Eastern Europe), Russia and Latin America too. Restaurants, supermarket products, clothing, you name it...
A few videos ago, Ben said he said he might not be able to finish those 2 giant burgers. He just consumed 3 chicken sandwiches, 6 pieces of chicken nuggets and a side of fries in one sitting, in the same video lmao. Don't be lying to your audience haha. You know if he wants to, he's gonna eat EVERYTHING.
The idea is to piggyback off of the marketing of a much bigger chain, without spending any money yourself. So the customer roughly knows what they're gonna get even though it may not be the same. It's quite an old tactic
they do it because of the association, more people might try something similarly branded to chick-fil-a than if it were an original restaurant; especially if the brand isn't available there, people will still seek something similar
I mean. As an American that has lived in a different country, there’s something humorous, charming, and familiar about it, and definitely peaks curiosity. Sure you might be “let down” but it’s like running into someone that looks like an old friend that turns out to be really cool. In Italy there’s few of these “Wild Buffalo” locations, combine that with the black and yellow scheme throughout the restaurant as well as TVs playing sports… and well you get the idea. The reality is, that it will get people in, especially Americans. Note: That Wild Buffalo spot had these Whiskey BBQ wings that were bomb as hell, but, sometimes they were off with the whiskey to BBQ sauce ratio and it would just taste like you were eating a shot… good times.
Happens in other countries too. In whatever industry, first you copy, then you are really good at copying, then you innovate and beat the master at it, then you kill them. Happened when the US copied german/british cars and engineering, happened when japanese copied US electronics, cars, etc. Happening right now with China in every single industry known to men.
I think about this often also In DC there’s always 1 stop shops that are 711 inspired but they will be called 811 or something which always confused me. Why not just go full send on the store 🤷🏽♂️
“I’m guessing this is gonna be dark meat, but I’m not really sure. If it’s white meat I’ll be surprised”. Bro didn’t seem surprised, so…..dark meat then?
i think what happens is that people just want to recreate the flavors of a american restaurants without getting sued lol, also grabs peoples attention if the logos look the same
I used to be like you, I could eat 5000 calories a day and was 160lbs, never gained weight no matter what I ate! .... Enjoy these times because that will ALL CHANGE...once you turn 40yrs or so.... 😂
